I kept waiting to hear angels, but just heard people. I wonder why they put red towels on the people on the floor. Probably done for modesty and just done across the board.

Anyway, I found the service to be a bit disturbing.

Unable to view this at work right now.

I remember years and years ago....probably in the mid 80s or so, Lee Stoneking played a clip of what he said were angels singing along with a congregation while they sang "Hallelujah." I don't know if that was real or not, but it was a beautiful melody.

There is no reference in scripture to angels singing. It's one of those things people want to be true, but probably isn't. "Hark the herald angels said" and "Mama's teaching angels how to cross stitch" just doesn't have the same ring.

Angels? It was a track playing over the PA system. If that is the sound of angels then "you sing like an angel" is now an insult.

TBN did the same mess in the 90's. Claimed angels were singing in the studio. I'm sure that picked up traffic for a while and brought in some extra money.

The video is like a reserved Pentecostal service, less noise and movement, and no external legalistic trappings. They're european, right?

Looks like a charismatic or trinity pentecostal church. They could be Oneness but they definitely aren't into the 'standards' thing.

The red cloths are done for modesty.

The first (larger) portion of the video is prayer, waiting on the Lord.

The last little bit with all the yelling and jumping must have been the conclusion of the meeting.

What makes me think it is charismatic is the way the preacher behaves, at the very beginning... and at the very end (although that ending is no different than many UPC church meetings, btw).

One thing that I was pleased with was there was no 'laughing move' or 'spirit glue sticking people to the floor', no barking, clucking, rolling around like nut-cases, etc. Just people praying, some were weeping, most people appeared expectant.

The first part reminded me of Bartleman's description of Azusa Street, in the prayer room... they had a sign there that read 'no talking above a whisper'.

As for the 'angels singing', I culd hear a soundtrack or something of some lady singing what sounded like a catholic or Lutheran or Anglican style hymn. I saw and heard nothing that would make me think 'Angels are singing!!' and it looks like nobody there had that impression either.

I think there's such a tremendous need in the body of Christ for true healing and deliverence. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but can't God move like He did in the early church without the showmanship that's present in so many churches today?

Someone, please just lay hands on someone and simply let them be healed. Someone, please just speak to the demon possessed and simply free them.
I'm really really really really really tired of showmanship, I'm really really really really tired of cheerleaders.

Where's the simple power of God in the church?

Seriously, that stuff happens in charismatic churches.

'The River', Vineyard churches, some trinity Pentecostal churches that have gotten involved in 'the River' or the 'laughing revival', etc etc.

Similar stuff happened at the Cane Ridge revival, too, by the way, back in the early 1800s.

I've seen some pretty...ummmm....'unusual' things in charismatic churches, no doubt about that.
