Misty is the most dynamic Christian musician of my lifetime. I could not believe it when I found her music in 2008. The thing that hit me was it was all there.
The love of God. The fear of God. Holiness and personal devotion.
Hear this entire concert. Be blessed!

The word of the Lord came to me tonight concerning you.
This is what I have been instructed to ask you.
How come you do not believe that it is evil and sin for anyone to receive money for their God given talent, that was given to them to minister freely to the body of Christ and to minister to the Lord?
How come you do not believe it is evil and sin for anyone to take
the music and lyrics given to them by the Holy Ghost for the sole purpose to minister to the Lord and to minister to the body of Christ...
and to make merchandise of it and copyright it and sell it for money for any reason whatsoever?

You have no idea what you are talking about. She does not do concerts like others. She is at her Church in the prayer room hours a day. When you see her in concert it is right there in her own Church as part of the ministry.
She COULD do tours and be very rich and famous. Practically all her music is right there at her Church. She is there in the Prayer Room nearly every day.
This young woman is a great example of long prayer and fasting and self denial. Had you watched the video you would have been knocked out by the anointing like I was. This particular video is on her Facebook anyone can see it free.

Michael, do you associate yourself with the IHOP church?
I only associate myself with the truth any particular group may be teaching/following.
In other words some things I believe IHOP teaches more truth than "Apostolics". In other things Apostolics teach more truth than IHOP.
I might add I find the music at IHOP more edifying and spiritual than among Apostolics but that is a personal preference and not something to fight about.

By "Prayer Room," you mean the IHOP chapel. Every now and then I've looked at either live or archived videos. Prior to posting this, I went through several archived videos, since it's been several months or even a year since I last looked an IHOP webcast. It's mostly singing or chanting. Ironically, for a place called a "House of Prayer," there's really not much prayer going on there.
I'm very cautious about Misty Edwards. She helped found IHOP, which I and many others consider to be a new age cult.

Really?? A new age cult telling people to fall in love with Jesus? to give their all to Jesus?

Have you watched any of the webcasts or Bickle's messages? If not, go watch some. His beliefs on contemplative prayer is straight new age.
Check out IHOP's bookstore. It's filled with books that are on new age.
Fire Within (https://store.ihopkc.org/fire-within/dp/83) Bickle says he wants this to be IHOP's "manual." It's a book on Catholics and mysticism.
Contemplative Prayer (https://store.ihopkc.org/contemplative-prayer/dp/13) Here's what IHOP has for the book:
"He [Thomas Merton] brings together a wealth of meditative and mystical influences from John of the Cross to Eastern desert monasticism to create a spiritual path for today. Most important, he shows how the peace contacted through meditation should not be sought in order to evade the problems of contemporary life, but can instead be directed back out into the world to affect positive change. Contemplative Prayer is one of the most well-known works of spirituality of the last one hundred years, and it is a must-read for all seeking to live a life of purpose in today's world."
Thomas Merton was a Catholic and mystic.
Dream Language (https://store.ihopkc.org/dream-language/dp/1128)
Lost Art of Practicing His Presence (https://store.ihopkc.org/the-lost-art-of-practicing-hs-presence/dp/930)
John Goll is a false prophet. He claimed God spoke to him and told him Mitt Romney would win the election. After the election, of course, it was proven to be false and he wrote a blog complaining that people took his words out of context.
Forgotten Desert Mothers (https://store.ihopkc.org/forgotten-desert-mothers/dp/1238) This book talks about finding new ways to communicate with God. Among these new ways is "centering prayer" and "Christian" meditation.
Combine what I've seen with what I've read in the news, on the site and from people previously associated with IHOP, that's why I wrote what I wrote.

Contemplative prayer is a very dangerous, New Age practice, that Satan is using in the church.
I read a book recently by a man named Brian Flynn, who was very deep into the New Age stuff, who received deliverance, and was shocked after becoming a believer, to find the very New Age practices he had just received deliverance from, being a very integral part of the church. He has spoken out against these things, and we need to understand that Contemplative Prayer is nothing more than New Age doctrine wrapped up in a different package.

Some think because it's done in church, and it's "prayer" it must be okay. But we have to have discernment and know what's true and what's deception.

I have watched IHOP Webstream for going on 4 years. The Prayer Room is a tremendous concept. While its true that on the platform there is far more praise and worship than prayer, that in no way indicates they are not a praying people.
These young people could be out on the streets doing drugs and playing the whore. They could be sitting in a dead, lukewarm Church merely warming pews like most Christians.
Instead they choose to spend their time actively serving Christ. In those 4 years what I have noticed in their teaching and preaching is a total pointing to Jesus Christ. I have never heard ANYTHING that sounds "new age".
Now if we understand that Trinity and faith alone doctrine are "new age" THEN I would say they are new age. The same as some on this forum.
The same as 99% of all the "Apologetics" teachers that go around deciding who is a cult. The huge amount of those who call IHOP new age and cults are actually all cults themselves!
They hate IHOP because they teach Christian living and the post tribulation rapture. Two things I embrace myself. Many of the testimonies people use against IHOP relate to what they call teaching "works". In other words obeying Jesus Christ!
What a shocking concept!
I have heard and assume it to be true that Bickle recommends books that I consider false. Yet for anyone to think that he teaches anything other than Christ in their community and to brand him as "new age" is totally absurd.
He teaches some things accurately such as sermon on the mount discipleship, post trib rapture, and total abandonment to Jesus.
I honor him for leading thousands of young people that direction. On the other hand he is an Evangelical. Trinity and "faith alone" salvation. This truly is cultic doctrine. I pray regularly for them to come to more truth.
Bottom line as to this conversation Mike Bickle has stopped short of the whole counsel of God. To that I agree.
But to brand him "new age" as in spiritism and the occult is to have no clue what they are talking about. IHOPS message is JESUS from beginning to end.
If I were an Evangelical Charismatic believer I would certainly be part of their movement. It is the closest thing to the "Jesus Movement" I came up in that I know of in these times.

Allow me to point something out. Praise and thanksgiving is a very important part of our life with Yeshua.
18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; 19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Eph. 5:18-20
This is not a small thing.
Again:
Look at these 3 things TOGETHER.
Rejoice evermore. 17 Pray without ceasing. 18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. I Thess. 5:17-18
Its all part of abiding in Christ. Sometimes my prayers have just been giving of thanks. Sometimes just worshipping.
Prayer is very important. But when you are spending hours of time with Christ through the day you get much more of his fullness by incorporating worship and thanksgiving.

Please. Bickle uses impressionable young adults, has them pay almost $5K for his IHOP school. They aren't allowed to leave the building without permission from an IHOP minder. As part of their "schooling" they have to spend countless hours in the non-prayer prayer room.
Even Bickle's brother had an issue with his teaching and handling of the students before he died.
I haven't even mentioned the sex slave murder which happened at that IHOP. Where one of the musicians killed a married girl whom the group passed around as a sex slave.
But I guess I don't have a clue or know anything. Right.

Do Christian Colleges charge money? Of course. I consider it a waste of money to go to any pay for learn Bible College.
Who pray tell FORCES young Christians to go to them? Does IHOP force people off the street to come there? No. They come because they feel IHOP has more to offer them than the Church they go to which is probably almost always correct.
Where is your PROOF that one may not leave the building without permission?
And your sex slave story was obviously not believed by local authorities or they would have been indicted.

Never said they were forced, I said Bickle uses their youth and naivety against them. They feel they are going to do some great work and end up working like slaves.
All the UPC Bible schools are accredited. IHOP is not. Besides that, IHOP can't be compared to any real college or university. It's run by Bickle and all about Bickle.
Again, even Bickle's brother was at IHOP when it started then left after confronting Bickle about his false doctrine.
And the musician was charged with murder. Her husband, who attended IHOP (though they've tried denying it) was not charged, but has been accused of pimping his wife around to the IHOP members who lived with them.

Working like slaves? IHOP presents it as a spiritual boot camp. They know what they are getting into. If one dreads prayer, Bible study, fasting, and witnessing for Christ it would be a good place to avoid.
As I recall the killer was not a musician at IHOP. Don't know where that came from. The group you refer to ran their own group apart from IHOP tho evidently the leader was also attending there.
You make it sound like IHOP is running a sex camp. If true it would be all over the Evangelical newcasts.
Here is the way the IHOP SCHOOL teaches concerning sexual purity. Note especially what is said at the one minute mark.

Bickle claims he's been to Heaven...not once, but twice!
“The International House of Prayer (IHOP) was founded in 1999 by Mike Bickle, who says that many IHOP teachings draw upon the works of St. John of the Cross and Teresa of Avila, as well as contemporary Catholics including Father Henri Nouwen and Father Thomas Dubay, SM. The IHOP 24 hour prayer room, he says, was inspired by the spiritual practices of Catholic European monks, such as St. Bernard of Clairvaux. ‘I’ve always had a passion for Catholic-Christian unity, and enthusiastically welcome this years Catholic track,’ says Bickle. ‘We may have different religious traditions, but we focus on fellowship, and unity and Jesus being glorified in prayer, worship, and teaching.’”

According to the report,Deaton and his cult members attended IHOP and graduated from the school’s university. There is controversy growing surrounding IHOP’s involvement with Deaton as the Star reports that Deaton’s’ name remained on a handout and website listing of friendship groups orchestrated through IHOP. Deaton served as a “division coordinator.” The Star reports his name remained on the list until Nov. 4,2012; five daysfollowing Bethany Deaton’s murder.

* The website Fellowship of the Martyrs, based in Liberty, Mo., has several discussions and stories revolving around whether or not International House of Prayer is a cult-like organization. The Christian Apologetics & Research Ministry also purports the worldwide church, famous for 24-hour non-stop prayer, claims the group has "cultic origins and goals."
Doug who leads The Fellowship Of The Martyrs teaches the doctrine of Jezebel, taking the spouses of others. Real reliable source huh?
Christian Apologetics Research ministry is led by Matt Slick. A slick talking Evangelical who I myself have debated on Paltalk. He also claims Oneness Pentecostals are a cult.

If you recall this thread started as a video by Misty Edwards. I forcefully defend Misty. She is the most dynamic Christian musician I have ever seen. Now perhaps I come to that conclusion because her life has been the most transparent of any Christian musician I ever heard of.
After watching her music and hearing her speak over the years I stand by that.
As to IHOP when I started watching them I read tons of internet articles many written by "Apologetics" groups and former interns. No doubt I have researched it far more than you have.
In these stories IHOP is usually painted as a cult because of the teaching of total commitment which they call "works". Again before they come they are told it will not be easy on their flesh.
Obviously anyone can leave IHOP if they want to. It happens all the time.
My association with IHOP is like my association with Oneness groups. There are certain things in which I agree with them. Then again there are areas where IHOP is deceived just as there are areas where most Oneness Churches are deceived. I promote the truth as I know it.
As to Macarthur I find nothing to agree with him on.

Dave does your Church celebrate Christmas? Does your Church celebrate Easter? I will be interested in knowing this.

The video in the link above should be enough to cause any true, spirit-filled believer to run from the org....yet you instead defend them by asking if I celebrated Christmas???? LoL.
Stupid argument. Seriously. For you to compare demonic, new age mysticism to a widely celebrated, family holiday is ridiculous.

So you defend a man and organization that teaches and promotes Catholicism, mysticism, and contemplative new age prayer....but you're against McCarthur.
I'm done here. There's nothing I could say or show to convince you anything different.
Enjoy.
What I defend is the truth that IHOP does teach. The sermon on the mount. Forsake all discipleship. The post trib rapture. Intensive prayer and worship.
That I agree with. I am pleased that thousands of young people are seeing these things.
Cultic? Any Trinitarian and faith alone teaching is cultic from IHOP, John Macarthur and all evangelicals.
Now back to YOUR CHURCH.
So to you Christmas is merely an accepted family holiday? By who? By the WORLD. I could post literally HUNDREDS of links showing the occultic nature of Christmas and Easter.
Not merely from Catholicism but outright PAGANISM. Apparently you feel ok about it.
You did not want to bring YOUR CHURCH into this conversation I noticed. Could it be you know there are probably a great number of links that can be viewed from many sources that would brand IT as a cult!
Else you would not mind opening it up for examination.
In the meantime someone on the Forum might enjoy the hard hitting discipleship and devotion found in the music of Misty Edwards.

Nice try.
Let me see if I have this right...you're okay with promoting an organization that teaches a false, new age belief just as long as there's one or two things you believe as well.
Mmmmk.
Since you desperately want to shift the focus away from your promotion of a false doctrine to my church...I'll say a couple things about it. Funny how when people can no longer defend the indefensible, they change the subject.
So let's play your game.
We're an independent, apostolic church.
We believe in modesty, but not outward dress standards. We have a council of elders who will be training young men to be licensed by the church and ordained. The Pastor does not take tithes, he worked a secular construction job and just recently retired. We adopted an elementary school which we have a few drives a year for school supplies, shoes and other needs. We also support a woman's shelter for abused women. Pastor does not believe pre-trib.
Remember, gotta keep changing the subject. That's the name of your game. Don't want to face the fact that you support an organization that teaches false doctrine.

I wont change the subject. We will include all relevant topics. I like the things you said about your Church. If by not pre trib you mean post trib I would say you have more truth than IHOP. :highfive
