View Full Version : Camera Assistance Please:

I have a Nikon Coolpix 100L Digital camera. I have had it a while, but when I turn it on I get a message that says ( this camera is write protected ) and it will not snap a picture, does anyone know what I need to do to remove this from the screen? :girlytantrum

Here is one of the responses from the link above:
Take the memory card out, look on the side for a little slider. Move the slider. It probably got knocked onto the protection setting.

Alternatively, buy another memory card in case this one has gone bad.

It's usually the Memory card is locked, unless there is a digital feature in the menu to do that...

Or perhaps the card is bad

I agree with Prax. It sounds like your media not the camera is "locked" and "write protected". If this camera uses a SD card they usually have a little sliding lock on them with one direction being "unlocked" (where you can continue to use the card or to erase it) and "locked" that keeps any changes from being made including adding more pictures or erasing the card. Check that and report back!

Thank you for your help, and that was the problem, but my DIL had already solved the problem, and the little switch on the memory card was in the locked position. Thanks again.
