I'm writing a song and need some help

So I started a band with a few guys in my youth group. I'm the singer/songwriter, and I need some help writing an up beat praise song. I've written several songs, but none of them are good praise and worship songs. Any help would be great.

This is a little vague, but here would be suggestions of mine.

1. Keep the melody and lyrics somewhat simple.
2. Find a few songs that you think are what you're going for and mimic the drum beat and bass line patterns. You'll have to modify the bass line according to your particular chord progressions, but this will give you the tempo and feel of what you think is an upbeat praise song. Once you have the basic feel, add unique hits or fills so that it's not the same as the songs used as reference material.
3. Key selection can be kind of important. # (sharp) keys like D, E, G, A, tend to sound cleaner or brighter and are easier for guitars whereas b (flat) keys like Eb, Bb, Db, have a bluesier darker sound and are more popular among the black churches who utilize the organ more.

Don't know if this is the kind of advice you were looking for, but there you go.

Look at the book of Psalms a 150 songs ready made, plenty of material there
