Anyone in the area want a dog? She showed up at the door step a few days ago.
She doesn't have a collar. She wonders the neighborhood, but seems to find her
way back to me. She is very friendly and shows no signs of aggression. If I had
my own place I would keep her.

A few people at work were interested. I was going to take her by today. She's missing.

Our dog adopted us. A stray. She started hanging around the house for several days, keeping her distance, eating the food we put out. Very shy. But one day, I called to her gently, holding out my hand. She slowly walked toward me, head down, almost sulking, until finally she was close enough that I could pat her head lightly. As soon as I did, she picked her head up, wagged her tail, happy as ever! :lol

We've been her humans ever since. ;)

So sweet! :)

My very first dog (I was 10) was a stray someone had thrown out as a puppy. My parents and I drove up in the yard and I saw him and immediatley
wanted him. They told me if I could catch him I could have him. (I don't think they thought I would be able to)

I tried and tried to get him to come to me, but he was too afraid. I finally got an idea and went inside and got a cold biscuit. Went back out and began
tossing a piece of bread over to him. He would gobble each morsel up. I kept throwing it and kept getting it a little closer each time. Finally I tossed the last piece pretty near to me and when he ran to get it, I just pounced on him.

He yelped and yelped and yelped but finally calmed down when he saw I was not going to hurt him.

He was a good friend for many years and a great protector many times for me. His name was Shang. Best dog I ever had. :nod

Eric Frank Russell was a science fiction writer from the golden age. He has a short story where dogs were really the masters and us humans were the pets. I think it was called "Into your tent I'll creep". They lay around all day and we feed and bath them. Ha Ha!

Love those stray dog stories shared!

Hope Houston's stray dog has a happy ending.
