Would you serve God if there was no Heaven?

Everybody talks about escaping Earth and going to Heaven.

Do you think we will be held accountable for what the world has turned into?

Most Christians act like they don't care what happens to Earth as long as they have an escape plan.

Heaven is not the issue for me. Its eternal life/immortality. As long as I get that I don't care where I am. If there was no eternal life and God did not punish us in some way I agree with Paul.

If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. 1 Cor, 15:19

I believe that living by the priciples in God's word is a superior & happier way of life regardless of if there is a heaven or hell.

Yes. Just having a relationship with Him on this earth is awesome.

I'm not miserable.

Neither are you serving God!

Unless you have repented since I saw you.

That's an interesting question.

I believe that within each of our hearts is a place that needs and longs for God. Many fill that place with other things, but there is really no true fulfillment in life outside of allowing God his rightful place in our hearts. It is a wonderful thing to know that not only can we enjoy the benefits of being a child of God in this life, there is much more, and better waiting for us in the life to come.

As a child of God, we can have the best of both worlds.

Jesus said the Kingdom of God is at hand. Hmmm....

So, was Paul wrong? Or am I lying? Or am I miserable without even knowing?

And what do you think I have to repent of?

And what makes you think I'm not serving God? Is it because I believe differently from you?

As far a misery is concerned, I spent more time in "misery" and depression in my time as a believer than in my unbelieving time. So far. ;)

I think you're misunderstanding the verse MTD posted.

The verse is saying CHRISTIANS are of all people the most pitiable if their hope in Christ is only for life on earth.

I Cor 15:19 (KJV)
16 For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:
17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
18 Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.
19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

1 Cor 15:19 (AMP) If we who are [abiding] in Christ have hope only in this life and that is all, then we are of all people most miserable and to be pitied.

The verse is speaking about the hope for Christians. Hence the comment "neither are you serving God" directed to you

Ah. Thanks. Yes, I think I was misreading that verse. Have been for years! :lol

You do not have any misery because as far as the devil is concerned he already has you, so he makes the way easy for you to lull you into sleep.

The devil wants to bring misery and persecution upon those who belong to Christ to dissuade them from following Christ.

The devil does not bother those who are already his, that is why the easy road is easy to take. you are swimming downstream instead of upstream toward heaven.

Well, none of us actually knows if there really is a heaven. We may BELIEVE there is a heaven, but we don't really know. I live the way I live because I believe it is right. That's about it. I believe that good living brings peace. Or at least theoretically, it should.
