Your opinion....

Is it worth it do drive 90 miles a day round trip for $550 a week take home while driving in a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer with 172,000 miles, spending 500 a month in gas JUST for the commute, 150 a month in auto insurance (because of a work requirement), and 300 a moth for after school care?

I'm paid 15 dollars an hour, can't afford the insurance, and could net take home the same money with a ten dollar an hour job that was closer.

The field of work is child welfare case management which I find no pleasure him. Red tape out the gazoo. Horrible training. Dangerous situations both physically and legally. Allot of vulnerability.

God help me!!

I'd go for the $10 hour job that was closer. But that's just me.

I believe God has a better plan for you. Be patient, and pray. Then step out in faith. I have the impression that there is something you're not telling us. An opportunity you're afraid might be criticized? Maybe someone close to you has already tried to discourage you about it. Don't be afraid. If you feel peace about it in your heart... there is a reason. Even if the opportunity provides temporary relief... I sense that it might open doors to greater blessings. Step out. God hasn't given us a spirit of fear. If this hasn't manifest yet, keep an eye out for it.

Don't fear making a mistake. Trust God.

I think you should buy a cheap car that gets great gas mileage and keep looking for another job. I worked as an advocate for a domestic abuse shelter for a year and a half. I left and never looked back. One of my co-workers had worked there for thirty years. Her health was very poor and she died shortly after retirement. I thought that would be me if I didn't leave.

My brother, the Lord does not want you to be stuck working like a madman and commuting for hours. There is a time for that when you are young... I did that for years and He removed me from all that stress about 15 years ago. The older you get, the more you realize your time is valuable to you and the Lord. He wants us to be about His business, supporting ourselves in the meanwhile. If you take the steps that need to be taken and pray. He can give you the job you want. He will move obstacles out of the way for you if you use your faith. One word of advice....dont tell God you will try to pay him back financially like an O.T. figure. He wants to bless you with no strings attached. You could "stop" Him from blessing you by trying to make deals that He doesnt want to make.

A very tough call. Some people don't realize how tough it can be to find a job nowadays. Anyway while you are in that situation I highly recommend that you use the time in transit as your prayer time. At least on one portion of the drive. An hour and a half to 3 hours a day with the Lord makes for a close walk.

Also keep in mind Yeshua knows all the birds of the air and every beast of the forest belongs to him. How much more does he know all about your situation?

Wow. So basically your bring home every month after the expenses you mentioned is $1250.00.

If my calculations are right, you could find a job making 10.00 an hour, and work 31.25 hours a week, and have about the same income of $1250.00. Might be worth checking into a different job... unless you believe that this job is exactly where the Lord wants you, and has you for this time.

Is it feasible to move to a residence that is near this job? would this job be a possible chance for ministry? Does your heart already tell you no?

We are called to a righteous stewardship of all that God gives us, even in our finances, health, and well-being. Whatever act or level of stewardship that is righteous, is the path to take.

I lost a job that pays the same amount you mentioned, due to health reasons, only to have to take a job that pays the second amount you mentioned. We were not forsaken, either way. All good gifts come down from above, from the Father of Lights.

for what its worth, these are the kind of general rules I think are important when considering employment.

1. It is easier to get a job when you have a job.
2. consider your resume when contemplating the job you are taking.
if you are considering 2 jobs that are just stepping stones, which one will serve you better when other perspective employers are looking at you?

you can take a $10 an hour digging ditches but does a guy offering $50K a year think that is a good entry on your resume?
you may drive further for that other job but will it entice someone else by making them think you have higher qualifications?

3. Working is ALWAYS better than not working. Not simply because you make money, but because it gives you personal value where NOT working only drives further feelings (mostly unwarrented) that one is not contributing. Self worth is important.

Peace to you my friend, I pray you find the right employment!

I actually co-own it with my two sisters. Someone needs to live here to get the homestead exemption and to maintain the 5 acres for ag exemption. My uncle who is my neighbor tried to buy us out and the seal fell through. But if we do sell I am headed for Mexico or Louisiana . I do not want to hang around if I can help it.
