Pastors all across America will be boasting and bragging about how many were in attendance today. Pics will be posted on Facebook, and so will remarks of their temporary delight.

Even backslider show up for Christmas and Easter services.

That way all they have to hear is that Jesus came to earth, was born in Bethlehem, died for our sins and then rose again.

Nobody has to hear any of the hard parts. :smack

I am not a pastor but was sharing on FB info about our Easter service. We normally run 900-1,000 folks between our three Sunday services and with no advertising or promotions of any kind (no giveaways, etc) so far we have had about 1,162 people in the 9am and 11 am services with one more service, 6 pm, to go. I am guessing it will be around 1,500 when all said and done so about 50% more than normal.

No bragging just excited that about 500 more people than normal were in church and hearing God's word. The bible says that the Word will not return void so you have to believe that out of 500 folks not normally there at least some of them are going to have their lives impacted by hearing Gods word.

How many converted to Christ? That's worth bragging about.

How about you give it a little time? I can't believe any christian would not think it is a good idea to have people who normally don't come to church come visit where perhaps their hearts and minds will be touched and they will start coming to church and give their life to Christ. Good grief.

I agree with CC1. Any time a large number of visitors come to church, it's a wonderful thing. It's something worth posting to FB. Better than the gossip, meme's and other tripe that fill FB timelines most of the time anyway.

Our boast should be in the cross. Not numbers.

Our boast should be in the cross. Not numbers.

Of course our boast should be in the Cross, but it does not hurt to mention the numbers.
3,000 on the day of Pentecost
5,000 a few days later.
and after that it is just multitudes.

Our boast should be in the cross. Not numbers.

The boast is not in the numbers themselves. The rejoicing, not boasting, is in what the numbers represent. As I said before people who are not normally in church for the most part and it is an opportunity for them to hear the word of God and have their hearts touched which could lead to them deciding to follow Christ.

I just don't get it. Should one strive to not have visitors on the one Sunday of the year that many folks who don't come to church any other Sunday are apt to come? Should one be sad when they show up on Easter Sunday and ashamed so one doesn't find joy in new people hearing the word of God? I must again state as I did in an earlier post - Good Grief!

One man's boast is another man's rejoice. Perhaps Dante has seen some disgusting boasting. Rejoicing is better.

Boasting is one thing. Speaking, ahem, "evangelistically" is another. :heeheehee
