FYI, owning your own business certainly qualifies as working for a living--and business owners often put in way more hours than a *normal* work week. Js. ;)

LOL! I thought the same thing. But I can agree with the pretty and young part!

Amen to that :)
Congratulations to this young lady! I admire young folks with ambition and dreams. But more than that those with the perserveance and determination to make it a reality.
Obviously does not change the fact I think her mother is a heretic but still a great story of a young person living up to their potential and I know her mom must be proud of her.

LOL! Touche! :happydance It's true that Jeff does what he loves, but he doesn't just "cook barbecue." He writes newsletters every week, contributes to a digital BBQ magazine, contributes the occasional article for other magazines/publications, maintains a website and a huge online forum, manages advertisers, answers hundreds of emails per week and takes and edits all his own photos, among other things. He only cooks on Tuesdays and holidays--and even that requires research and major preparation.
There all sorts of stressful components to owning your own business (such as doing your own bookkeeping, invoicing advertisers, etc.), although I totally agree that it's worth it if you can turn what you love doing into something profitable. In many ways it is definitely easier to work for someone else, turn in the required number of hours and then go home and leave it all at the office.

Even if she wears makeup, jewelry, and cuts her hair?

Why not? Is a parent to not be proud of a child's accomplishment in something even if in another area they fall short in their eyes?

You would like to think it would be that way; however, I have seen a situation where a parent pretty much disowned children because they "fell short" in the parent's eyes regarding "standards of holiness." Children that are dedicated to loving God and serving Him. It can be very sad. No pride in the children's accomplishments and only laments that the children have been deceived and are believing a lie - lost and going to hell. :foottap Parents who state they are embarrassed by their children no longer following these "standards". Parents who are more concerned with what their peers think and say than their relationship with their children. :girlytantrum

That is sad, Sweet Pea.
Regarding Ruth, she is part of her daughter's business and appeared in a positive news story covering it, so I would assume it is safe to say she is proud of her daughter.

What makes you think she wears makeup, jewelry, and cuts her hair? Did I miss something in the pic / article?

Her web page clearly shows her in makeup. It doesn't appear hair was cut. I do not recall about jewelry.

She's prettier with makeup on. More apostolic women should wear makeup instead of looking like bug-eyed zombies.

I had only looked at the Hartford article with the pic of her and her mom. You are correct that the website pics and other link to the video clearly show makeup.
Her food looks amazing and she is one beautiful young lady who is very photogenic. Clearly if she desires to branch out beyond baking she could have a successful modeling career. The camera loves her.

Yes, you apparently did. The camera even focuses on it.
However, in my comments above, I'm being facetious. I don't really care. I think she's beautiful and I'm proud of her success as a young, Christian woman.

The camera focused on her jewelry several times in the shoot.

I only saw the guess watch they emphasized because Guess was sponsoring the video. Did you see something else or do you consider watches jewelry?

I don't consider them jewelry and I know the 'church' doesn't either because they consider them 'functional'. I thought she was wearing a ring too. However, while I don't consider watches to be jewelry, Guess does, thus the reason why she was wearing it and their focusing on it several times in the video.
And I didn't know they were the sponsors. I focused more on her outer appearance than to notice anything else. ROFL!

The UPC would not consider watches to be wrong, though some other groups would. Could you pint out in what picture or video it shows anything else? Where did you get cut hair?

I guess I didn't realize that Women looked like "bug-eyed zombies" without makeup.
Too bad God didn't consult with you before he started creating women....maybe then he wouldn't have done such a terrible job.

P.s. My girlfriend doesn't wear make up and she most certainly doesn't look like a bug eyed zombie. I think she is beautiful and so do most people who know her. Too many people are looking at feminine beauty through a lense of Hollywood whoredom and pornography so have no capability to appreciate the beauty of a godly woman. Sad really...they don't realize what they are missing.

For those of you concerned about the video and pics of Miriam Rieder with makeup on here is a recent tv interview with her where she appears to have zero makeup or jewelry on other than her watch.
