Blind submission to your church or a pastor is not co-equal with submission to Jesus Christ.

1 Pet.5
[6] Humble yourselves therefore,
under (JESUS) the Mighty HAND of GOD,
so that Jesus may exalt you in due time (in this life)
[7] Casting all your care upon Jesus (the Mighty God of Israel)
for JESUS cares for you.
+++
Matt.23
[8] But you be not called Rabbi:
for one is your Master, even Christ;
and all of you are brethren.
+
[10] Nor be called masters for one is your Master, even Christ.
You know, I agree with that. There is a fine line there....If we have elders that are preaching and teaching the EXACT truth. We should submit ourselves to their teaching, thus submitting ourselves to them. Notice, I said EXACT truth.

Sean, who determines EXACT truth?
To respond to the initial post: Jesus indeed is our mediator, our High Priest, and the authority under whom we must answer to. Watchman Nee has a great book about Spiritual Authority that is excellent concerning this topic.

Understanding comes from Jesus, our eternal master/ light.
2Tim.2
[7] Consider what I (a man) say;
and the Lord (Jesus),
give you understanding in all things/ matters.
This occurs with the CORRECTLY baptized,
who knows that Jesus lives,
who have the faith, to ask and wait.

How are you my friend?

Brother, YOU determine exact truth, by testing the doctrines that trouble you.(bounce it off of everything and everyone you can) then come to your conclusion.
These elders in our lives are in the same boat as us. They must test what they believe from time to time to make sure they are not teaching erroneously also.
For instance, if an elder is teaching Acts 2: 38, we are all in agreement and we feel free to shout AMEN.
But if he is teaching, "the Bible is full off errors and cannot be trusted", it is our job to TEST his doctrine and reject his authority over us because of his erroneous concept or belief system.
