View Full Version : Iraqi dinar
Has anybody bought or have a friend that has bought IraqI Dinar, thinking that they were going to make a huge profit when the currency goes to a kazillion percent?
Have a friend that his dad is an ardent dispensationalist. They have misinterpreted Revelation to where they think Babylon is going to rise again so they are betting on becoming instant kazillionaires overnight!LOL
I told the gent that this is what they call a hard currency scam.
Supposedly on the 29th of this month the currency is to take off on it's meteoric rise!
I told him that either I was going to be his best friend for telling him not to buy it, and, because it doesn't take off he saved his money, or he will hate me for telling him that and he could have been an instant kazillionaire!
Anybody bought into this scam?
ive heard of this going on every since the first gulf war.
its always gonna hit in a couple of months.
I have not seen this in the last year or so, so it seems someone is bringing back the dead.

My wife's aunt and uncle went all in on this Dinar thing. They tried getting my wife to give money to pool together. I said no, thank you. Every time we see them they claim it's "just a few days" or "just a week or two" for the money to start rolling in.

My brother in law bought right after the Gulf War.... :-) he's rich now... Walking the streets of gold... Of course the dinar has done nothing...
Supposedly they are saying the 29th of this month!
I just started guffawing when he told me, I don't think he was to happy.
I told him that every reputable market analyst says it is a hard currency scam so what does he know that they don't? He replied that Revelation said that Babylon was going to rise again! I asked him for the Scripture and he flatlined on me!
I remember when a well known faith evangelist was running around the country endorsing Enron, and this was after their fall! I told a neighboring pastor to not buy in, but he did anyway and lost almost 20K of the churches money!
Go figure!

Went to a service in another state last night, was all full of the end of the world stuff! Chills and thrills!
There was so much depression in that place it was bad. The preacher, from Vidor Texas, tried to pick it up but he had to work!
Bad, bad, bad!

Preaching the newspaper headlines! LOL
Preachers don't feel like they've succeeded unless they bring people to an emotional response. Genuine or not.

Some preachers...
Well, yesterday was the 29th, when the Dinar was supposed to revaluate according to those who believe in it.
It didn't.
I called my friend who has a few million of this monopoly money and asked him if he was a millionaire yet. He just laughed.
Oh well, guess I don't get to spend someone elses dime.

I lightly followed this issue for a few years now. The dinar re-evaluation has been predicted for the coming Monday for years now. Fact is, Iraq is the second largest old producing country on earth, and the world market is going to get that oil. That requires the currency to hit the world market by the nation getting back on its feet again. The USA spent trillions working there and they're going to get it back if they can do anything about it. It will happen. It's just a matter of when.

You are waiting for it to RV on Monday!
You are the chapter president of Dinar Buyers Anonymous there in Canada!
"Hi, my name is Mike Blume! I just can't help it, I like Dinars!"

A little bit of gold and silver, tangible goods, and some property, that is what currency really works!
The fiat dollar is going to go away soon. it will be interesting to see what happens then.

the dollar 'goes away' a little bit every day! Imo, it will go away (for one) when they stop using it.

True, so true. It was in the 80's that Mexico changed their fiat currency. I think we will see the day when we have to change ours, knock off a few zeros.
Inflation is coming.

well, i'd say that one can justifiably ignore the gov 'inflation index,' which seems to strip out anything I'm buying, at least :lol
Well, since I started this thread we have seen the extreme al-queda take over Mosul, and they are moving to take over more cities.
I called my friend who owns the dinars and told him to sell them quick. Civil war is never good for an currency.
Doesn't sound like they are going to rv anytime soon.

So, the reason the dinar is frowned upon is because the rumours going wild about the rv???? That's it????

Actually it is called a hard currency scam. The ones selling it are selling it based upon the idea that it is going to RV. The currency is good if you are in Iraq. Worthless outside the country. So they basically are selling a fantasy that people are buying into thinking it will make them millionaires overnight.
What will happen if it RV's is they will issue another currency giving everyone who holds the new currency some time to change it in. It might be 30 to 60 days. The problem with holding it here is how are you going to exchange it without traveling to Iraq?
Furthermore, the ones selling it here are scalping people in the money exchange rate. Thus the hard currency scam.
If people would have taken the same money 3 years ago and invested it in the market then they would have seen much greater returns.
The Dinar is not going to RV anytime soon, unless it goes down, because of the civil war. If ISIS takes over the country then they will issue a new currency making the old worthless. After all, it is a fiat currency anyway.
Bad, bad news for those holding these pieces of paper.

Never been there, been close. Been in lots of towns in the south that were close to the same spirit. Vidor does seem to have a reputation for having the edge on prejudice though.

The issue is that the currency is not on the world market. That is why it is worth on 1/10 of a cent.
The same situation occurred in Kuwait. The currency came off the world market and when the USA stepped in and built up the economy again, the currency went from ten cents per dollar to $3 per dollar on the world market. Soldiers who obtained Kuwaiti dinar came back wealthy.
What evidence is there to suggest that the currency will not hit the world market in the same manner after the blocks hindering it are removed, or that the currency will be changed? The currency has more security methods built in it than the USA's money! Are they going to dump all that currency that was made only as far back as 2005?
I know folks who have dinar and the sources from which they bought it allow refunds.
Interesting issue.
