You can inject one under your skin and no one will ever notice. Using short-range radio frequency identification (RFID) signals, it can transmit your identity as you pass through a security checkpoint or walk into a football stadium. It can help you buy groceries at Wal-Mart. In a worst-case scenario – if you are kidnapped in a foreign country, for example – it could save your life.

Microchip implants like the ones pet owners use to track their dogs and cats could become commonplace in humans in the next decade. Experts are divided on whether they’re appropriate for people, but the implants could offer several advantages. For soldiers and journalists in war zones, an implant could be the difference between life and death. A tracker could also help law enforcement quickly locate a kidnapped child.

“In the long run, chip implants could make it less intrusive than some emerging ID systems which rely on physical biometrics (like your fingerprints or unique eye pattern),” says Alex Soojung-Kim Pang, author of the book “Distraction Addiction” and visiting scholar at Stanford's University’s Peace Innovation Lab.

“This should be a matter of individual choice, but fighting crime should be much easier using chips,” adds sci-fi author Larry Niven, who predicted chip implants in the ’70s. Niven said he supports chip implantation for security reasons, provided it is an opt-in measure.

Whether the "Beast's Mark" will be a computer chip embedded under the skin, or not, I don't know. Prior to the technological invention of the computer, there had never been, in the history of man's presence upon the earth, the means available whereby one's every action could be so closely monitored as is possible by the means of a computer chip on one's physical body. Of course we realize that God needs no such thing, for He already knows everything about us, even our thoughts, but it will not be so with the coming Anti-Christ.

Where is a micro chip in the Bible? The Greek word for mark is χάραγμα which means to engrave as with a chisel to sculpt a statue. Now if the mark in Revelation 13:16-18 is a chip, what about the writings in the foreheads of the people in Revelation 14:1?

I was doing Bible study at a particular place in town and this young man told me that I needed to meet his father and mother. The young man told me that his father knew the book of Revelation better than anyone, so I told the young man to get his father down here pronto quick. When the man walked up he was wearing these big sunglasses, and when he whipped them off he look me in the eye, and I burst into laughter.

http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o304/Undyingsoul1/UtterMadness.jpg

He told me that this was fulfilling Revelation 14:1.

Hey if the mark in Revelation 13:16-18 is literal, then so is the one in Revelation 14:1. I guess the chap was just trying to stay consistent? :heeheehee

Personally, I believe that if one notices that the overall pattern throughout Revelation, including the mark of the beast, perfectly coincides with the Exodus journey of Israel, one will come to conclusions about what the mark and other things really are in ways that make something like a chip or tattoo to be far off -- ahem -- the mark.

Regarding the pattern of Exodus, here is part of what I noticed that refers to the mark.

As Moses came down from the Mount with Law, God informed him that the people made a golden calf and were worshipping it.

Exo 32:1-34 And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. (2) And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me. (3) And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron. (4) And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. (5) And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD. (6) And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play. (7) And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves: (8) They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

We read of an IMAGE OF THE BEAST in Revelation as well.

Rev 13:14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

When Moses came down, he demanded a separation from the worship of the image of the beast, the golden calf, and the Levites came out and stood with Moses.

Exo 32:26 Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD'S side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

After we read of the people worshiping the image of the beast and wearing the mark, we read of another group standing with the Lamb on a mountain.

Rev 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.

In considering the mark of the beast, or his name or his number, on the foreheads of the worshipers of the beast, we read a very interesting connection with the Law of Moses.

Deu 6:2-8 That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged. (3) Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey. (4) Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: (5) And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. (6) And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: (7) And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

Rev 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

Associated with the law being obeyed from their hearts, and with their soul and might, we can see a connection to the soul being represented by the forehead, and the might represented by the right hand. These are Hebraic metaphors for soul and might. They indicate one's totally allegiance to the Law of God and full dedication to the Lord. But satan's answer is the mark in the right hand or forehead.

After Moses called for folks to stand by his side, he sent these faithful ones forth to slay the others. Three thousand died that day by the edge of the sword. Similarly, we read of Babylon having fallen, fallen, after the 144,000 stand by the Lamb's side on Mount Zion.

Exo 32:28 And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.

Rev 14:7-10 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. (8) And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. (9) And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, (10) The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

The chip could be the MARK . It is getting smaller and more powerful as time goes by. In the history of mankind, there has never been a worldwide, or even regional system in place that could even remotely control buying and selling. But in the days we live in, it could be done, by way of a cashless society and RFID in the world combined. It may not be the FINAL mark, but Who knows, maybe it is!

I think that it is interesting the comparison of the book of Revelation to the children of Israel's Exodus. There are so many parallels in Revelation that indeed are similar to the Exodus, that it certainly bears some studying out. Yet I don't think anyone will ever be able to predict, or know for sure how all these things will eventually take place.

And, implantation of a chip, is wrong, and this goes beyond believing what the book of Revelation speaks of. It really ties in to a massive destruction of personal privacy, and once that boundary is crossed, there is no telling how science would try to manipulate one through the use of the chip. It is something we should stand against, I believe.

The Apocalypse is a series visions giving truth in the form of signs and symbols. The "mark of the beast" is thus sign and symbol of a spiritual reality.

Microchips for human control are a SYMPTOM of the spiritual evil represented by the mark, but the mark is not "the implantable microchip".

If you really study what a "phylactery" is you'd have a good idea what the mark represents...

Well, whatever the end result is, we must be ready for a cashless society someday. There is definitely the means to make it happen. When that happens, the govt. will be able to monitor transactions and who can or cannot use the system...welcome to the book of Revelation folks...

16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

This is the problem I have with the entire futurist camp. The impression it puts upon us concerning the book of Revelation. Revelation is not supposed to be hidden as though we will never really know until it all pans out. That is far from the purpose of even calling it REVELATION. Revelation is a revealing. Unveiling. Disclosing. God would not purposely put something in His word, call it revelation, only for us to never know what it means or foretells til it happens. That is what futurism does to us, not God's Word. Something is wrong with a system of interpretation that leaves us thinking the opposite from what the title itself relates.

Perhaps. But, Jesus did say, no man knows the day nor the hour. If the book of Revelation is a revealing, than that is contradictory to this statement of Jesus. And, all the writers of the NT, especially Paul taught the saints to be prepared every day for the return of Jesus. So, they anticipated seeing the resurrection of the dead and return of Jesus even in their time. So, I don't know. I don't place all my eggs in one basket, but rather, I try to live with the understanding that we may not know the day or the hour, but when the time comes to know, it is then we will know.

Just please make sure to get the bacon in there along with them. :)

Indeed.

Why? Revelation did not reveal the time just the events.

Again, preparing for His coming has nothing to do with knowing what the mark really is.

I don't believe in a literal mark. I also believe that in order to have 'a mark of the beast', one will know what it is they are receiving.

Amen.

I think you have hit the nail in the head.
No one would willingly take a mark of the beast.
There has been too much publicity about the mark of the beast.

people might not believe in God or make light of the Bible, but no one in their right mind would willingly jump into a lake of fire, only a few nutcases would line up to receive the mark of the beast, especially if it was a literal 666.
