I do not agree with point #5. You should read The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson sometime.

Good blog; however, I disagree with the recommendation to read "The Circle Maker." Batterson wants people to "pray in a new way," and that new way is, like the book, not based on God's Word.

So you believe prayer is a begging session? Why? Can you give me Biblical examples of someone that begged God and his prayer was answered?

I know you were asking him, but I thought I would chime in too.... I can think of one occasion where a woman begged the Lord.

I think of the woman of Canaan who begged the Lord to heal her daughter and the disciples wanted to send her away because "she crieth after us." And Jesus told her, I am not come but to the lost sheep of the house of Israel, but she kept on, and finally Jesus said "O woman, great is they faith, be it unto thee even as thou will. And her daughter was made whole that very hour. Matt. 15:21-28

I wouldn't call it a "begging session."

However, there are times when prayers are not answered right away - such as in Daniel 10. Daniel fasted and prayed for 3 weeks. The Bible says God heard him the first day and sent the angel Michael to him, but it took 21 days for Michael to bring the answer to Daniel.

Hannah wept for a child so hard that the High Priest thought she was drunk. Would she have stopped praying and just accepted that her womb was closed, Israel would not have had the prophet Samuel. Who knows what ripple effect that would have caused.

Should the blind man, Bartamaeus, not yelled, begged, and pleaded for "Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me?"

There are plenty of examples, like these, of people who prayed for an extended period of time.

I don't call it begging, I call it being persistent. And there's power in persistence.

No, I do not believe prayer is a begging session.

It's just that I don't think 1 or 2 prayers is enough in some situations. Praying every day for a child's salvation is not begging. That is, in my opinion, persistent prayer. And that's why I mentioned the Circle Maker book. The book is about praying big and persistent prayers.

I'm not sure, but it seems to me, David is "begging" in Psalms 51:9 - 11

Psalms 51:9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

Psalms 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Psalms 51:11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
