I would adopt the attitude of 'who cares?' but that would overlook the underlying problem:

American television culture and American media have created this situation. They build up a celebrity, and then follow them around looking for a way to destroy their lives publicly, all for ratings. And all to the detriment of true and serious news coverage.

I feel sorry for her, and for Britney, MJ, MS, and all the rest. They need God.

Which brings up an interesting point. What's up with all these Apostolic ministers champing at the bit to vote for their turn to be hounded by the press like this?

<knock, knock>

"Rev. Jones, you say you're special, you're holy, you hear from God himself, and you alone have the truth? Well we have some [doctored] photos of you in a compromising situation, or anecdotal testimony from people who say you hurt them. Please give us a sound bite that we can use to make you look like a hypocritical manipulator or a fool."

Let the FUN begin!

:lol In the NBA they call this a FLOP!

@ 1:15 in the clip, a patrol car is trying to get past the mob of reporters. He's using his bullhorn telling people to get out of the way, but they're not listening.

This bozo reporter is on the edge of the crowd trying to get a live report for KNBC when he gets "run into" by the patrol car.

However, after watching it a couple times, it looks more like a flop than anything.

I hope the Sheriff is held in contempt of court. Along with that, an investigation needs to be initiated to see if there was any kind of bribe paid in exchange for her short-lived release.

And then he should be canned.

Now, why does the song "It's my party and I'll cry if I want to" come to mind. You can tell she is toooooo spoiled. Her parents must have been picking up the pieces all her life. Some things parents can't fix. She did the crime she must to the time.
The thing that gets me what in the world are we thinking. PH gets 45 days for drunk driving and Mary Winkler gets 60 days for murder. Something just seems way off balance.

Why anybody would feel sorry for a child of privelege who has had her way her entire life and has never faced adversity is beyond me.

This short time in jail could be the best thing that has ever happened to Paris Hilton. She has finally learned that there are rules in life and a price to pay if you break them no matter who you are.

I think the system needs to be overall, a person who commitments what I call a petty crime, like shoplifting or didn't pay a parking tickets should not be put in with rapist and or the likes. Many who do blue collar crimes are put in with dangerous offenders, and exposed to things as gang rape, AIDS, these things they take back to their spouse when release.

Drug and Alcoholics should receive treaments that get them off the stuff, otherwise are taxes dollars are doing nothing more then housing a person who'll probably due it again once there out.

Ms Hilton should due her time, she needs to realize there are somethings money can't buy. Overall as a mother, I hope her stay is a safe one and make a change in her life.

Done wrong? What was her "illness" that she could be treated at home? My friend says she thinks it was chemical withdrawals.

Sorry, I don't see why I should sympathize with her more than any other criminal that goes to jail

ELMER, Tenn. — A woman who killed her preacher husband with a shotgun blast to the back as he lay in bed was sentenced Friday to three years in prison, but with time served could be released on probation in a little more than two months.

Mary Winkler must serve at least 210 days of her sentence but gets credit for the 143 days she has already spent in jail, Judge Weber McCraw said.
That leaves 67 days, and McCraw said up to 60 days of the sentence could be served in a facility where she could receive mental health treatment. That means Winkler might spend only another week in jail.

Prosecutors had pursued a murder charge against Winkler, 33, but jurors convicted her of the lesser count of voluntary manslaughter in April.

Even a full 3 years I thought was not justice.

I don't sympathize either...She had a blood alcohol level of .08 or above. She was driving under the influence. Talk to anyone who's had a relative killed or injured and see how much sympathy that person has for Paris Hilton. Maybe she will think twice before getting under the wheel after she's imbibed.

Her gal pal Nicole could get a year for driving drunk and driving in the wrong direction. They should get the same treatment anyone else does..

Here is an idea...if they want to escape jail time have them pay a million dollars per day that it would have cost and then force them to work at the homeless shelter without makeup or any of the other glitz they have and feed the poor..though I am not sure that will impact them enough to not drive drunk again

BTW Al Sharpton said she got free cuz she was white, however I remember a black actress that was involved in a hit and run and got away with it too. It's their fame and money that gets them preferential treatment

"Of course it's a victory," her attorney Steve Farese said. "She could be in prison for life, and that's what everybody thought she was headed for to begin with."

She could have received up to six years for killing her husband, Matthew, in the parsonage where the family lived in March 2006. A day later she was arrested 340 miles away on the Alabama coast, driving the family minivan with her three young daughters inside.

..................
Freeland said that just before the fatal shooting bank managers were closing in on a check-kiting scheme that Mary Winkler wanted to conceal from her husband. Prosecutors claimed she had become caught up in a swindle known as the "Nigerian scam," which promises riches to victims who send money to cover the processing expenses.

Winkler, however, testified during her trial that her husband hit and kicked her, forced her to look at pornography and demanded sex she considered unnatural. Jurors were shown a pair of tall, platform shoes and a black wig Winkler said she was pressured to wear during sex.

At her trial Winkler testified she was physically and emotionally abused by her husband, but at her sentencing hearing Friday she said, "I think of Matthew every day, and I'll always miss him and love him."

These maybe the answer, instead send them to Africa to do relief work, work the hunger and AIDS camps, built shelter, just maybe they'll realize what good they can do in this world with their money and self as well. These gals are a product of their upbring , they been given a golden spoon, so much money they'll never have to work a day in their life, what a sad thing, never to be pushed to better themselves .

There really needs to be a way of separating hardcore criminals from the petty ones. Many will recall a few years back on another forum we had young person do something that sent them to jail. Many said , God will use this, they'll be a light, God will have them use this as a witness when they get out, will in fact not so long ago someone wrote update on this person. They didn't find the light, in fact they are alot further from God now then when they went in. Sure he did something wrong and should pay the price for his crime, but to subject people like himself to really hardcore criminal's is wrong in my book. I'm sure this person was passed around like candy, after all they were good looking and young, so now we have a damage and broken person, who've been punished way beyond what they may have done.

No I don't much care for Ms Hilton, but she still a person.

Yeah it does and I do not need to get started on that one again. I was told today that her attorneys are trying to get everything expunged from her record. They better be glad they didn't call me up for jury duty. My way of thinking is not the concensus of that jury!

I think this bring up some good points~

TOW Entertainment News
6/9/2007
Why Paris Hilton is hated so much?

Why Paris Hilton is hated so much?Thousands, millions cheered at the picture showing Paris Hilton sitting in the back of the police car in tears, first leg of the sad trip that was to take her back to jail.

Is being the spoiled brat she is sufficient motive to prompt people to cheer at her downfall, rejoice at the humiliation she underwent by being broadcast live while taken away from her home handcuffed and in tears?

What or who are people hating? Paris Hilton or the world she represents? After hearing the news, some fans screamed with displeasure, while one civil rights activist says the decision will help "restore the public confidence" in the justice system, the Associated Press reported yesterday.

Paris is exactly the contrary of what normally triggers compassion and sympathy but the so called brain-dead blonde is a human being just like you and me.

She broke the law and she's being called to pay the consequences of her actions; however the media frenzy surrounding her jail saga could have awakened the worse in each one of us, passive viewers of what public obsession could turn into a human tragedy.

Put yourself in her shoes for a short while; Paris Hilton never worked, never did anything that could justify her being famous yet she is. Famous for being famous, Paris associates the fortune of being born under the lucky star, heiress of the Hilton Empire, to the permanent attention of a celebrity-obsessed nation who doesn't care if Paris never did anything to deserve fame as long as she makes the weekly front page of a gossip magazine.

The spoiled brat is the "Frankenstein" her lucky star and found celebrity generated; she didn't ask or fight to have it, she was "built" by the Media to be who she is.

This 26-year-old young woman has edged on what life has given her to the point of believing she is invincible, above everything and everyone, even the law.

Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer gave her the wake up call on Friday morning, shredding Paris Hilton's "perfect world" into pieces, showing her that what she believes, what she was brought to believe isn't true after all.

Her body shaking uncontrollably, her desperate cry for help as the Judge ordered Paris to be sent back to jail should have been sufficient punishment and lesson for this young woman.

Instead people cheered and partied just like when a tyrant is overthrown; but Paris is no tyrant, she is a mere image, a fantasy exclusively useful to tabloid and gossip magazines.

So what did we cheer about? Her individual destiny taking back at once all the goodies she had from life or what her being sent to jail stands for, that it doesn't matter how rich and famous one is, the law is the law?

I've tried to find an answer to this and hope our readers will help us better understand by casting their vote in our poll. If you wish to further elaborate please feel free to join our celebrity chat board and share why, according to you, Paris Hilton appears to be hated so much.

As for me... I haven't come up with the answer yet but I do feel compassion for this young woman who has learned the hard way that justice isn't "blonde" after all.
