We're leaving the last week of June for N.B. And we'll be home for a couple of weeks. We have plans to meet up with old friends and to attend what used to be the district campmeeting but now is called Summer Summit (or something like that).
We're looking forward to that SO much.
In July we're planning on going to the district campmeeting here in B.C. Bro. Mooney is preaching and I'm really really looking forward to that and to hearing him preach.
In August we're going to Victoria for a few days to meet pastor friends there and then on to Nanaimo to stay a day or two with pastor friends there.
I've already made some friends here among some of the UPC pastors wives so I won't feel like a complete stranger. And there will be others there that I've know from years back.
We're going to GC and have plans already to meet some forum friends there who I haven't ever met yet. I'm really looking forward to that! :) Monday after Conference we're going on a 4 night cruise leaving from Tampa with pastor friends of ours from back home. We get back on Friday morning. Later that day we're flying to Costa Rica for 4 days or so. Then back to Tampa and then home.
I believe this is all providential and that it's all part of the big plan and picture -- whatever that is. God knows. :)

A few years ago, we rented a convertible and drove up the Pacific Coast Highway. We stopped and visited the Hearst Castle while out there.
While the Hearst Castle is impressive, the Biltmore Estate is more impressive IMO! :)

N.B. - yes. My husband is flying state-side from Seattle to Boston so he'll be driving up the 95 to Maine to visit with his family for a day or so and then on to N.B.
I'm bummed because I'm going to miss that. I have to fly this side of the border -- alone :cry because my passport expired. Because there's such a glut and backlog here of people waiting I won't have it in time to travel. I was looking forward so much to visiting Boston again and then traveling up the Maine coast - at least part of the way.
"Home" will always be N.B. I think.
First time back - yes.
The BC campmeeting is held a few hours from here -- not in Victoria.

It's just GAWD Thad! Hehe. Seriously a miracle for one thing :bliss and then it's just that most campmeetings are held in the summer here because of weather issues and all.
It's amazing the re-connections that are going on. One of my very best friends is meeting me at the airport. She's told me that she's never found another friend to take my place. We just had a very special friendship and I've missed that SO much! :sad

I see that your hair is pulled upward & earrings removed I wear my hair up exclusively right now and I don't wear earrings anymore.
It's funny because I felt convicted about it a number of months ago at the altar. Reached up then and there and took them out.
I've put them back in a few times (bad me) and every time I've ended up with my ears running.
It's a sign! LOL. :)
I wouldn't condemn anyone else, but for me I can't wear them anymore. :)

The same thing happened to me Sister.I had really nice earings which were
real gold and diamond cluster. My ears began to run.I packaged them all up and gave them to my sister along with a watch that convicted me everytime I raised my hands to pray.It was diamond studded as well.I know that not a soul thought anything of it but everytime I lifted my hands to pray I found myself hiding my watch.I did not know that this was how the Holy Ghost spoke to you in many
instances.I don't look around to see who has what I felt convicted over on because it was personal between the Lord and myself.I applaud your openness.

I love Gatlinburg and the Smokies.I did not feel it was a carnival atosphere.Pigeon Forge now I thought held alot more worldly attractions.I like how Gatlinburg is situated between the mountains.I am a hiker so all I see when I am there is the mountains and the trails.I love hiking out near the river in the mornings and to all the waterfalls. Its so easy to just stop by Subway and get a meal deal and pack it for the day.Another nice thing is if you stay up in the Ski Lodge area you can wake up to have your coffee on the balcony and watch the smoke resting upon the valley
and see an awesome sunrise.Yep I love it but this year my vacation is going to be an East Coast vacation flying into Baltimore.I am getting a new grand daughter.

Jeff is working in Arkansas, so the kids and I are going to go spend a week at the hotel with him in June, July and August (1 wk/mth).
I did ask Jeff to take me somewhere (anywhere, really) at least one weekend, just the two of us...but I don't have a clue when or where yet.
I had it planned to go on choir tour in July with Nick Sheppard(my nephew) and Fall Line, BUT they cancelled. :sad :depressed

We're not going anywhere. Not this year or any year in the near future. I am not comfortable being more than 45 minutes to an hour away from Walt's heart doctor or MCO Hospital (where all of his records are).
So we'll just hang out around here and do a few little day trip type things.
Justin is going to go to a huge Christian Youth Convention called LIFE2007 in July in Florida.
Keith is going to church camp. And to a couple of Detroit Tigers' games. That'll keep him happy.
Besides, remember that Walt spent 3 weeks in ICU, had 3 surgeries and stayed in a rehab hospital for 2 months. We gots no $$$$'s. But that's ok. We've got each other. That's all I want.

Very open politically, but almost all of the country is Catholic. We are actually going on a work trip to help build a third children's home at an orphanage called the Abraham Project. There are 17 of us going. It's where my daughter volunteered for a year after she graduated college in 2005. Very impressive place!! This is one of the very few orphanages in the country that is Protestant. They would not consider themselves Apostolic, I'm sure. But it is a Spirit filled group, and they have a church on the orphanage compound that we will attend on the Sunday that we are there.

When Ashley lived there, she went to an 8,000 member church called Oasis in San Jose. It was AG, but they shockamooed and ran around way more than AG in the United States. She loved the worship!!

We are planning our annual pilgrimage AWAY from the heat. Last year, we went to Taos NM and were suppose to stay for 6 weeks. My mother broke her hip and had other health problems so we had to rush back home. After looking at possible COOL places - we have settled on Fort Collins, Colorado as a start. We plan to stay a couple of weeks in that area. Then maybe go to Flagstaff AZ for a couple of weeks. I am looking forward to this trip- I love to travel and see new places and after the 96 degree heat today and yesterday-- BRING on the COOL weather.

How much do you guys budget for travel each year? When you have kids it's
a lot more expensive.

I am hoping to go to Virginia for about a month to visit my mom and brother. I also plan on visiting a friend or two in New Jersey while I'm there.
I also plan on seeing Subdued and Barb again, and gonna try and see Lisa while traveling to or from Virginia.

our son just turned 4. we now have to pay for his meals. it is a little bit more expensive with him. when we go to cancun, we have to pay almost regular price for him at the resort....and regular price for him a plane ticket, so that vacation cost MUCH more than one in the states. budget....not sure how much we spend each year for vacations.

HO, if you're passing thru and gonna get to see Subdued and Barb, let me know when and where. I'd love to come up and get to meet you too. (and I'm hoping that it's at a time when I can clear a couple of days on my calendar!!! I'll be much more free after the 3rd week of July. Any chance???)

a lot more expensive. We have our church hold out money each week as a vacation allowance. When we get it, we have to report it as taxable, so there's no tax break in it, just that it keeps us from spending it on something else and it's available in a "holding" account at church when we want it.

Did you go to the GreatWolfLodge in Sandusky? We almost booked a couple of days there for last week. But then the boys decided they would rather have a digital camera (Justin) and an electric scooter (Keith) with the money. We celebrate their adoption anniversaries each year. This is what they wanted this year. Rats!! Maybe we could've met you live and in person. Wouldn't that have been fun!

What about you, Thad? You started the thread, but never said if you were going on a vacation (except to Orlando for GMWA). Is that your vacation? Are you going to GC in Tampa? Do you take one big long trip, or break it up into several trips throughout the year?
My husband and I have been married six years and FINALLY took our first vacation in March (since our honeymoon). Since we live in the mountains, we naturally headed to Florida. How funny....while growing up in FL, my family would head to the mountains for vacation.

Gearing up for the UPCI thing again... that is the only sign I see.
Love & Blessings, RhoniNo, it has nothing to do with UPC. I stopped wearing earrings earlier last year and told some friends about it at the time.
UPC has nothing at all to do with it.

i thought i did ?? last year i was flying somewhere all the time. this year i purposed to stay put. i have an unused ticket to seattle i have to use by august so i might there for a day and cool off. it's a good place to go to escape the heat. I doubt i go to GC. I see little point in going really.
i have a few weeks off in august i may do something i dont know yet.
i'm getting a new car so that's where my money is going this year

We will probably just do some weekenders this year except for a family reunion for my wife's family in Chicago.
My wife is quitting her job and starting her own business so we are focused on getting that off the ground this summer.

I've been kicking around some different ideas for a few weeks. I have a desire
to do an old fashioned road trip. (Did those a lot when I was a kid) I would
like to go out west, but I don't have the time to do a roundtrip on the road from Tennessee to the west coast.
An idea I'm considering is the following:
Day 1 Fly to Phoenix, pickup rental car, and drive up to Flagstaff
Day 2 Grandcanyon
Day 3 Drive to my sister's in Riverside, CA
Day 4 Visit family in Riverside
Day 5 Drive over to the coast and begin heading north on coastal highway
Day 6 San Louis Obispo, Morro Bay, and Hearst Castle
Day 7 Monterey and Big Sur Coast
Day 8 turn in rental car fly to TN out of San Fran area
Give me your opinion on this itinerary

I wish I could....
It was the afternoon of January 14, 2004. I was on my way to Monterey. I heard reports of its beauty. We decided to take a drive.
An hour into the drive we flipped a Camaro.... :)

Wow, were you on the Coastal highway when this happened. It would seem
like an extremely dangerous road to wreck on. Of course flipping an automobile is dangerous on any road!

No, we were not on the coastal hwy. I don't think we would have survived a plunge into the sea. :)
We did come close to going off a cliff in the area that we were driving. If the driver did not [over] correct his stearing sooner, I'm sure we would not be alive today.
Sorry I couldn't help you :lol

Haven't read the thread but I am currently at Dickson, TN in a hotel waiting for my son to finish with Youth Camp. The we leave here for a week of sun, ocean, seafood, golf and relaxation at Hilton Head, SC!
Later this summer (in July) I will go to Ohio for about five days during Fourth of July. Later that month a group of men and boys from our church will go to Norfork Lake in AR and the Norfork River and White River for camping, boating, swimming, diving, and fishing for trout for three days.
