I am looking for a decent synth (do they call them that anymore? :) ) to work with. I am looking for a good used one as a new one is out of my price range right now.
Does anyone have any good suggestions as to what to look for? Models that you are would suggest?
I will be watching ebay etc.
I really can't go much over a couple hundred dollars right now.
I know that makes it nearly impossible to find a good keyboard to work with but generally when we put due diligence into looking the Lord takes care of the rest.

Couple hundred as in two or as in six?
You may find used for 500-600 range.

As in 2 with a little bit of play room....
Yeah... that is what I am afraid of. I just can't go that much right now.
The Lord has provided some fantastic deals from time to time... barring that I will just have to have patience. :) I can afford patience. :)

That would be good to know but not if it is very much trouble. I don't want to put anybody out...
Thanks..
If you are brave enough to play live from software on your laptop you can get a Keyboard MIDI controller with a USB connection for about $200 (61 key or 88 key). But then you would have to get the Synth software.
$200 ??
you can get a yamaha keyboard at costco for about that price
but if you are wanting a REAL keyboard you can forget finding one for $200. not a new one
you may try a pawn shop or consignment

Good luck at that price...might want to wait or have some fundraisers. You might be able to ebay a Yamaha P-150 or a Roland RD 500??? They have weighted keys and good piano sounds. They also will give you a little synth like a soft pad or string patch to play behind you. I'm thinking the $400-600 range. Good Luck!
BTW, weighted keys are a MUST!!! hehe

I have owned about 20 keyboard and I like the Yamaha P200 better than anything I have ever played. I have mine on the front of the platform and lead worship with it at times. They cost around $2000 new but there are several on Ebay today for around $1000.

Motif!!What part of $200 don't you understand...that would cover a couple of the keys!!!!!!! And maybe the power chord. And the Roland Fantom is better anyways!!

I personally prefer the non-weighted keys... I don't like weighted keys... stay away from Ensonic, while they are USA made, I have one and they've never been able to fix it's problem. Bought a second one, and the first day I had it, it had problems... took it back and bought a Kurzwell with non-weighted keys.. ever tried to play a organ on a keyboard with weighted keys? I've been playing for nearly 40 years now... and, Oh... did I say that I don't like weighted keys?

Well, not usually on a keyboard it's not... on a piano it's pretty well centered though. : )

hehehe.... I think it's a matter of preference... I don't feel like the weighted keys really feel like a piano... If I play weighted keys, I like them on a Baldwin or Yamaha Grand. : )
