Have we not moved past this?

When someone asks me, "Is ___________ a heaven or hell issue," I think it's basically the same as asking, "What can I get by with without being damned to hell?"

The person who pursues godliness (god-likeness) is the passionate God pleaser. They yearn to do more than escape hell, they seek to please Him in every way possible. Why is it, that we are so content to live at the lowest "acceptable" standard?

Let's talk about pleasing God in every manner possible.

I don't think that anyone here wants to live at the lowest acceptable stadard.

I agree Berkley, but that is a common response to people who dont agree with the standards of men.We are trying to get by with less standards.

When all we are doing is living by God's standards instead of man's tradition.

I wasn't speaking of dress standards. There are a hundred things we tend to make "heaven or hell" issues. If you want to include dress standards in that, that's fine...

Then what are you speaking of?

WE've not moved past it because so many issues are framed (by us preachers) as Heaven or Hell when they really aren't.

Preachers, my friend, aren't the only ones framing these issues as such.

Established in 1896, NFPA serves as the world's leading advocate of fire prevention and is an authoritative source on public safety. In fact, NFPA's 300 codes and standards influence every building, process, service, design, and installation in the United States, as well as many of those used in other countries.

This thread is about building safety.

I disagree. Not every H/H issue thread is about living at the lowest acceptable standard. Sometimes it's just about asking the question, is it really a H/H issue or not.

True, that.

Can you explain this please?

I mean, I've never heard it come from anyone other than preachers and those who believe what is preached. I've never heard it from someone who read the Bible one day and received a revelation.
