Unless a miracle takes place, Carroll McGruder will soon be going home. Please pray for he and this family.
I don't know the man but sure hate to hear this. Didn't he recently get married? I didn't realize he was ill but I might have seen it and forgotten. I only saw him and his wife sing once and that was at Becton's church dedication in Nashville about a decade ago.

Yes, cancer. A friend who just visited tells that as he lays dying he is ministering to those who visit him....seriously ministering to others.
God's love and grace are always enough!

So sad. We heard the McGruders sing years ago. Wonderfully anointed people.
Makes me think of the Willoughby's in Singapore. She died first of cancer and then he died a few short years later, leaving children behind.
Will certainly be praying for him.
I remember them singing at landmark of 1980(Carroll/Priscilla). They sung "that sounds like home to me".....
That was very inspirational!
I remember hearing them singing "I'm Just Warming Up" at general conference in the early eighties.

Our God is Faithful.
Tonight at 10:40, we have witnessed the promotion of our beloved Carroll McGruder, to his eternal reward. He so aptly penned the lyrics to THE GREAT HOMECOMING; today they are relevant to him.
He made his transition peacefully in his own bed with family gathered around. His family and friends from around the world have held him and us in continuous prayer these past days. He expressed several times how he could "feel" that support.
We thank each of you for your calls, texts, and other expressions of concern. We will all miss this great man of God immensely and ask for your continued prayers as we begin a new phase of life without his counsel, presence, and support.
Our hope is in the witness that Carroll has left us. He received his reward, and we are resolved to go where he is.
Blessings,
The Carroll McGruder Family
Bishop McGruder's influence in Southern Gospel music will be missed, but his music will live on...

Salt Lake?
Salt Lake?
Actually that would have been Anaheim in 84'. I think I still have the cassette. That was the harvestmen service which would have been recorded. Our church choir picked up the song and added to their repertoire back then.

Didn't he pastor in Idaho for a spell?
Bishop McGruder of the First United Pentecostal Church, Kennett, MO previously served as Pastor of the Bethel Temple Apostolic Church in Twin Falls, Idaho, and the Windfall Pentecostal Church in Windfall, Indiana.
