View Full Version : National Youth Congress - You going??
I will be going at for one day at least... Thursday. A close family friend, Loida Howell, will be speaking at one of the meetings.
Youth Congress is by far the best conference the UPCI offers and I'm looking forward to going. It takes place in Charlotte, NC ... the dates I think are August 8-10.
Anyone else going???... I will be in NC visiting my Mom and sister in Wilmington, NC for the first 2 weeks of August.

NAYC is about 3-5 years behind the times. Rod Parsley's Reformation Generation will be preached in some form in the upci in the next few years. I'd rather be the leader than the follower. I'll pass on NAYC.

. Wouldn't you like to be where God is moving rather where He has been? Picking up the crumbs isn't my idea of moving the Kingdom of God forward. UPCI events should be called Behind All The Time.

No .... she was a wonderful person ...
You are being very nice...as little kids we thought she was a meanie standing guard at the door with her chair blocking the door that lead to the church basement...preventing us little ones from stepping away from service to go play tag or wrestling....she was the church bouncer and you know it....
....yes, it was sad to see her go but what away to go, indeed!
Big letters supposed to mean your point is worth anything? There was more Biblical holiness taught in three days than in decades of upci events. And by Biblical holiness I mean straight from the Bible, not from a manual. Stay in the wilderness if you like. I'd rather be stepping in the Jordan River ready to take on Jericho than to hang around a mountain waiting for another prophet to come down the mountain with a word from God.

Hahahaha~~ Outrageous!!!! I'm a liberal.. but I don't toy with the trinitarians... hahaha~~ hilarious! and this is my font size of choice, so shut your trap!!:lol
I take it the bottle cap lens on your glasses aren't working anymore. Truth is truth no matter if it comes from a trinitarian or a oneness person.
I saw the accolades heaped on a popular poster's blog about his comments on being a voice, not an echo. It was the same theme Rod Parsley has been using for years. Rod Parsley says it and it's blasphemous. A conservative person says it and it is deep theological and inspiring.
I'm smart enough to know the lies I was fed years ago by people with the truth is about as scripturally sound as Hellen Keller as a varsity cheerleader.

Nothing bitter here. It is about as exciting as watching paint peel. We have video archives of how exciting youth congress is. A preacher was playing games on his cell phone during service.
I'm not bitter. I'm not going to make lemonade out of toilet water. NAYC is not cutting edge. They are not current.

Her dad is an awesome guy and was good friend's w/ my Dad. He is a New Yorican like us ... who settled in NC. Our families visited each other on various occasions and we even vacationed together at the Smokey Mountains one year.
Who is a handful? ... Loida or their first child ??.. I don't know know how Jared does it??? J-Roc can testify that Loida throws a heavy fist.

Friend,
I am thankful that you have found your holy grail! Pursue it.. worship it... whatever you choose to do with it. I have no problem with you espousing your faith in this man you have chosen to follow.
That said, I do have a problem with you throwing up all over one of the best men I know. You should really keep your attacks upon Anointed, Godly men you don't know to a minimum. I can assure you that RP didn't influence my friend one iota in his writing for the blog.
There is nothing new under the sun... including anything marvelous revelation you think RP has received! So you go back to your creature worship and I will continue to worship the God from whom all blessings flow!
Have a blessed evening!:haloplug

I went two years ago and I thought they had great services. I’m sure you do have people not getting into the services, but it is way better than General Conf services in my opinion.
In Columbus, they were carrying kids out of there slain in the Spirit…. And groups of kids still singing and worshipping as they had to leave. As a parent, I really enjoyed the services, preaching, and was impressed with the worship of the young people. Believe me, if it were anything like General Conference and just a social scene, I wouldn't spend the money that I do to take my kids… I don’t make enough to just blow the money on that.

In the church my dad pastored we have been sending our kids to the last few NAYCs ... the results have been unbelievable .... some are LITERALLY spiritually alive today because of their encounter w/ God at NAYC ... I think it's so important for them to see that young people around the country are living for God.
I hope to see some of my peeps again in August.

I think that is important too, and I know what you mean by the impact those conferences make. I will do anything to make sure mine are in every conference and youth camp there is... I see a spiritual growth every year from the teaching/preaching they receive that is geared towards them. :nod

As a teenager NYC was always a life changing experience. The last time I went I was 19 and God showed me something on the last night as well as answered a prayer and I have been changed ever since. I can't wait to take our youth group because I know their lives will be blessed and changed forever.

we had our LAST fundraiser sunday night!!!! SOOOOOOO glad we are done with it....at least for a year! we were able to raise enough money to pay for EVERYTHING but the kids eats. the biggest expense was the chartered bus!!!
What was your best fundraiser?

hum......i would have to look, but i think the SLAVE sale was the best. keep in mind, we start raising money a year ahead of time. we will have about 70 going. maybe more than that....

That was our best fundraiser also. Are you talking like a "Work Auction" or as we called it this year "Rent A Teen"? We made the biggest bulk of our money off of this fundraiser. THankfully our church bought a passenger van this year so we only have to rent 1 now instead of 3 so we were able to save some money there. We started out with like our whole youth group going - around 30 some - and now we only have 20 going due to kids working.

yes, it is like a work auction. they have called it a slave austion for YEARS. i dont think they kids even work......lol
i THINK we raised about $3500 the slave auction. we had a car wash last week and made well over $1000. that was a shock to all of us. we also serve after church once a month. that always goes over well. our goal was to raise 15K....we made it and went a little over.
