I was wondering if someone could tell me the reason why some pentecostal women in Canada wear those hat looking things? Is it a cultural thing? I've visited a few websites from churches in Canada and some practice it and some don't.

Some do hold fast to the older interpretation of Cor. 11, and practice vieling their heads. This was common in most all denoms at one time.

Its not just a Canada thing, they do it Europe also and elsewhere. Are you referring to the "hanky" they put on their head?

They are following the Apostles doctrine.

1: Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
2: Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.
3: But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
4: Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.
5: But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.

Would that all Oneness Churches taught the truth!

I have no intent to hijack this thread (perhaps I need to start a new one?)

Here is my question: Where can I get a list of Oneness Pentecostal churches in Ontario?

Mr. Hoover,

You can find the UPC ones on the UPCI website. ALJC ones on their website and independent ones from our Canadian friends here on AFF!!

need nothing further on the Canadian UPC in this case. I had no luck with the ALJC site for Canada, and that is why I am asking here.

No I was referring to the shallow circular shaped hat that seems to only come in black. http://www.familyworship.ca/FWC/anvil07.html

I don't have my bible here with me, but doesn't the bible also state that her hair is given to her for a covering?

That is from the Plaster Rock church website. They held that belief since Bro Ralston preached there way back decades and decades ago. All the really old timers in New Brunswick believed in that. Look back in very old apostolic pictures from anywhere, in the USA as well, and you will find that the women usually always wore a hat in church.

This church you saw on the site believes in a hat of some sort, but nothing in particular. They come in varying styles as the years come and go, changing the way the hat is. I personally met the pastor of the site you referenced.

MOST pentecostals in Canada DO NOT Wear this sort of head covering or hat whatsoever.

They must have all ordered out of the same Sears catalogue. Shopping is limited in those wilderness areas!

Actually the trend seems to be that a sister knows how to make them in the church, and they all go to her for them.

New Brunswick is a good place to be FROMWherever Maritimers are they tend to congregate together. There's just a kindred spirit.

I've lived overseas, traveled east to west, north to south, living now on the West Coast and far as I'm concerned there's no place like home. No matter where you roam.

I know the opportunities there aren't as great perhaps as elsewhere but there is also less of the problem you find in some of the larger centers and in more prosperous provinces.

Just heard this evening of a young couple who have been living in Calgary for the past few years who are moving back to N.B. this summer.

I have never been to PR but I do know the pastor and his son I have been invited on more than one occasion to preach but it has never worked out. My brother-in-law's mother goes to church there. He is from the Doaktown-Moncton area originally.

If you Canadian pastors haven't accessed it yet, I would highly recommend you visit www.outreach.ca and download Ministering in a Changing Canada. The statistics are an excellent resource. An interesting slide is #32, Protestant Affiliation Trends in Canada. They actually have a category Non-Trinitarians. Sadly it's not a very flattering statistic.

How are the churches in Kitchener and Cambridge doing? As a youth I lived in Cambridge. For a year or so in Preston area and about the same amount of time in the Hespeler area.

Triple E, How are you doing? I thought you must have given up on AFF. It's nice to see others posting here. You knew that Donna, Felicity's cousin died? She went very quickly once she was diagnosed it seems. It's hard for us to believe that's she gone. We use to see her a lot when she managed the restaurant at the Irving Big Stop in Salisbury. If you get an opportunity to minister to Felicity's relatives please reach out to them. They are really hurting right now. Some of them have just left the Wesleyan Church I understand.

Yes Felicity's Mom was at our church the Sunday before Donna died,I wish I had of known she was from our area sooner. If you want to give us some of their names we will indeed try to reach out to them.
God is moving on new hearts in our area we have had different ones from the street the church is on come in to visit our services of late. Last Sunday night a young man from Persia(Iran) was in service along with his french speaking girl-friend who was originally from northern NB.
