Thought it might be advantageous to some of our younger ministry persons [male and female] if some of us past and present ministry over 40 years might give some tidbits of things that we have learned through the years.

One of the things I have learned is that people are fickle and you need to listen to the voice of God and do not act on feeling.

It is much easier to get a shout and a high energy message preaching on 'standards' than the real meat of the word.

Why? Because...the word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword. Piercing to the dividing asunder of the soul and spirit, and of the joints and the marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

I have learned to pray before service,"Lord help me to accept your word." In reality some of the word of God is hard to bear and I want it to take root in my
heart. If my heart be hard in any area I want God to prepare it for the word.
I don't want to hear just intellectualism but I also want to hear some of what the word calls the foolishness of preaching so I can be saved.I know I am hard headed and not fooling God.I want my pastor to take the word of God and blast all the enemies of the cross out of the region with the word of God.
