I wonder if the results will be sent to their UPC pastors so they can 'deal with them'...

This is what I would expect.
Seems to me many here on AFF remember the UPC from one bad experience, or as it was 5 - 10 - or 20 years ago... People change and sometimes it's for the better - even in the UPC!

This is interesting indeed!!! Someone from our church went to a UPC church on Sunday and they said that the women under forty looked just like the women at our church. Only the older ones were "holding on" to the traditions that used to be taught there. Is this common? We have been out for 16 years, so I've kind of lost track.

Happening more, but I think it'd be safe to say it's not the norm (yet).

I think you would still see long hair and skirts (mostly on women) but not any wholesale rejection of style nor an apparant attitude of faux piety as some have assumed.

This is exactly how the church my sister goes to looks like. Those born in the mid to late 60s forward trim their hair and some even wear light makeup. The older crowd sticks to the traditions they were taught. The funny thing is, there isn't any bickering going on over it.

Some of us never vote on polls.
Thus the numbers are not a true indicator of anything but those polled.
Polls say Americans don't support the current President regarding Prayer.
Polls say Democrats are a shoe-in for 2008.
Polls are many times wrong.

Ok, this leads to the question-
How many voted on each poll?
21 of 23 voted for pants? That is 91% 11 out of 12 is 91.66
Nevermind the math lesson. :search

I think those numbers show an interesting trend in the UPC and other Apostolic churches. And I think that the changes are happening in some cases in such a subtle way that people aren't even noticing them.
I know that the church I grew up always taught against TV, but now everyone - including the former pastor who still attends there - all have TV's.
I see the change even more clearly when I visit bigger UPC churches. There I see women with light make-up, trimmed hair, highlighted hair, etc., all over the place. These are people who grew up in that church. Not visitors.
And personally, I see all of this as a positive thing.

True
But not all have turned their backs on God. I just returned from a wonderful youth camp and holiness was alive and well. I know many churches who still preach truth and weren't letting go.
In the church that God has allowed me to pastor we are still holing on to truth. Our women don'
t cut their hair , wear make-up or jewelry or pants. there is no TV and such here.

There are many disciplines people practice because we believe they please God - not just to escape hellfire.
When will some of you get it?
It's not all about heaven or hell.
To take a silly poll on a place like AFF and make it mean that there is an overall trend within the UPC, is ridiculous.

I think that AFF is a pretty good representation of the Apostolic church at large! The arguments and differences mentioned here are a snapshot of the issues facing the Apostolic movement as a whole.

Knowing I am in the severe minority... it would give me hope for the UPC if they admitted that the bible says absolutely nothing about women wearing pants or cutting their hair, among other things... if they would be realistic about what is actually in the bible, then, and only then will the world take them seriously... (just because someone who had you crying into the carpet several nights a week told you something was in the bible does not mean it is there... read it again).

I agree totally, and I attend a UPC church. I'm just one of those logical thinkers that can't explain to someone else why the church ladies look like they do, other than tradition.

UPC ---------------------------------------------------------------------------46 -------- 52.27%
Apostolic Church - Teaching Acts 2:38 (non UPC)-------22 -------25.00%
Non Denomination --------------------------------------------------------9 --------10.23%
I am between churches at this time ---------------------------- 1------- 1.14%
Cell Group - House Church------------------------------------------- 3--------- 3.41%
I do not attend church------------------------------------------------- 3-------- 3.41%
Other Denomination----------------------------------------------------- 4-------- 4.55%
I can see this as a mix of our group. It may still be heavy on the first choice. But the percentages will not be all that far off in each catagorie if we polled the entire board.

91% or 88 persons who voted is way out of balance. Not a true representation IMHO.
