I feel as though I am in a rut - and we all know what that is.
Here are some titles I had thought of for this thread...
Thinking of Going Back to an Ultra Con Church
Thinking of Going to a UPC Church
Thinking of Trying Out a New Church, etc. etc.
What I want to do is just rededicate my life to God and start praying more and as the old song used to say, "Fall in Love with Him all over again"...My first suggestion to myself is:
#1 Stay off the internet more (then I would have more time for prayer, etc)
Any others?

Stop thinking about and just do it . . . *grin*
It's something I need to do also. My problem is I keep thinking about it, but I never actually do it. I think about my need to do a lot of things:
Study the Word
Pray
Fast
Teach a Home Bible Study
Worship more
Unfortunately, most of the time I just think about it instead of just doing it. So that's my suggestion for both of us.
Just do it.

Good title for the thread.
I've been thinking of the same thing. I want to get all the clutter out of my mind and focus on God. I don't think it matters if you do it while going a Con, Lib, Mod church. What I feel is important is getting in my closet with God, praying and reading scripture and listening to what God has to say through His minstry.
I was reading this morning about Jesus calling His disciples and how they forsook all and followed Him. I want to get down to where the rubber meets the road and be what He wants me to be. Being led of God is not an easy thing to do. It requires giving up of our own fleshly desires, picking up our cross daily and following.
The goal for me is: Being conformed to the image of Jesus.

TalkLady;
There is an excellent book by Foster, Practicing the Spiritual Disciplines. I have taught an adult Sunday School class on this many times.
Start out small so that you can attain your goals: Begin with setting aside 20 minutes every morning before you get distracted: Pray 10 minutes, read the word ten minutes, meditate on the word you have just read for ten minutes, and then journal your thoughts ten minutes. If you accomplish this for one month ...you will feel strengthened immeasurably and will desire more. Fast one day a week.
Month Two: 30 minutes of prayer [choose a worship tape that is soft and slow so as not to distract], 30 minutes of purposeful Bible Reading, 30 minutes of contemplative study/meditating on the word, and then journal your thoughts...you'd be surprised what happens when you talk to God and then listen as He speaks his words into your heart and mind. Fast 3 days once during the month keeping your reg. one day a week.
By month three: You will be more in love with Jesus than you ever were before and will stop in the middle of your day to pray and dance a shockamoo. Do the Daniel's Fst for 21 days...
Honey, you'll be so in tune with the mind of God and pray for the spiritual gifts...He wants to bless and enrich your life with them. Just remember, With all the wisdom and knowledge...pray for understanding of what is happening around you. God will open a realm to you that you didn't think possible.
God Bless you on your journey for more of Him.
Sincerely, Sis. Rhonda
P.S. the mindset many Chrisitans have is "What can I give up?" God's answer is "What can you ADD to your life"
