The concept that Americans only speak English is absurd. Case in point: our national motto. How dare those founding fathers to express our motto in a language other than English !!!

No he didn't.
The WH website under Obama was archived last Friday per law. A "bare bones" template was then put in place which is still being updated. The admin has already stated the spanish pages are being worked on and will be updated.

Gee, the Washington Compost lies. Who could have possibly seen that one coming? They've updated it since, but if anyone wants to read the original version, it's on the Internet Archive (https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2017/01/23/looking-for-a-spanish-version-of-whitehouse-gov-ya-no-existe/).

Not to mention our entire continent and truncated national name is based on a guy from Italy named Amerigo Vespucci.

So, we should have no common language, then.
Less and less of a nation...

English is the lingua franca of the world. It's not going away, anytime, soon.
Further, it doesn't hurt our national status to try and accommodate a plurality of people who are here but do not speak English sufficiently or proficiently.
Additionally, the USA does not have an official national language.
Lastly, I would contend with anyone who says something like "If they're going be here they need to learn English". That is nonsense!
English is one of the hardest languages in the world to learn as a second language. It has very few conventions, had a mountain of irregular verbs all of which have to be memorized individually since they follow no conjugative pattern, has more slang than most other languages, and has borrowed more words and phrases from other languages than almost any other in the world.
By contrast, Spanish is a relatively easy language to learn, and I needed a background of four years in High School, then four years in college before I became bi-lingual.
Expecting someone to come here and learn English in a few months, or even years time is an impossible standard to place on anyone, especially when most migrant and immigrant people are here to work their butts off, not study language arts at the college level.

I think Popeye would be more upset if he couldn't get a hold of synthol injections for his forearms. :lol

Amen, I don't like broccoli either, I like spinach.
I thought the ACLU was going after Trump because he was looking to ban spinach?

Other countries expect you to learn their language if you are going to live and work in their countries.
It is not impossible to learn English, I learned it and so have many thousands of people.
and I learned it in 3 months. :D
I learned enough English to have theological debates which use ten dollar words in every other sentence.

Approximately 430 languages are spoken or signed by the US population, of which 176 are indigenous to the area. Fifty-two languages formerly spoken in the country's territory are now extinct.
