1) This is yet another example in a long list of them in which the POC lied and why I typically am skeptical of any claims made by POC.

2) States should pass legislation to punish false and defamatory claims, like this one, made against law enforcement. These lies by POC put law enforcement lives in danger. They should be held accountable.

Technically, that would constitute filing a false statement with the police, which is illegal. Whether they'd be held accountable for it - or what the punishment would be if they were - is a different question altogether.

Addendum: According to the above, filing a false report is in relation to an investigation by the police, so I'm not sure how it would apply when viewed as an allegation directly against the police. Presumably it would apply equally, but I don't know if that's ever been tested in court.
