This year had an interesting Day of Atonement meeting. Lots of intercessory prayer, which came about by the Spirit's leading. We got some revelation about the local church's role in participating with Christ in His work of atonement:

The high priest went in to the most holy place to make atonement for all the people, combined with massive incense offering before the mercy seat (prayer). Christ's work of Atonement included that prayer for mercy and forgiveness upon the people, and as participants in His priestly function we are called to offer that prayer as well. It's a way the church "applies" the atonement to the people. The lost need somebody to pray for them. Somebody has to do it, and that somebody is the church.

(Not that we just make their sins atoned for, but that we intercede for them that God would bring them under the covering of the blood.)

Amen. Another thing that was brought out was that every 50 years on the Day of Atonement, the shofar was sounded announcing the jubile, when all debts were canceled, bondservants were released, and every man returned to his own possession. A great freedom "reset" if you will.

Well, that loud trumpet blast foreshadowed the sound of the Holy Ghost in the church as it carries out its work of intercession, Gospel preaching, witnessing, etc.

Wonderful to hear about the moving of the Spirit Bro!. Truly the impact of intercessory prayer remains one of the most unlocked keys to the potential the church was given at Pentecost.
