so, I'm thinking that since I have a well and septic system, that I just need to get solar panels to run the well and refrigerator.
We have ammo.
We have a garden.
We have a fire pit and propane grill.

Solar power for a well is a good idea. A back up manual system is also good for a last resort.
Rainwater collection is also good to have but you need a way to filter it if you're going to drink it or cook with it.

There are also tons of primitive skills classes being taught all over the country, many aren't too expensive, some are free in fact (usually for members of a group).
Red Cross provides training opportunities for volunteers. There's also CERT, local volunteer fire dept, county Emergency Management dept, numerous search and rescue volunteer groups, etc etc.
You could even go the local VFW and ask around for any old Marines or Army Infantry types who served in Vietnam, Korea, or even WW2 (Pacific Theater). You could also just find anyone who grew up in the Depression or during WW2 in a rural area, they are literally living enclopedias of survival knowledge.
Here's a hint: if you are directly connected to Red Cross, Fire Dept (Volunteer or other), EMS/EMT/ambulance services, police/sheriff's dept, or county emergency management, you and your family will be on "the list" for early info, treatment, medical, evacuation etc. Yes, there is a list of local VIPs, and yes you want to be on that list if anything goes totally sideways.
