What does one think when you see Happy Holidays in place of Merry Christmas?

Like most things, I'm sure it's a personal preference, but I personally don't like to see Happy Holidays on bags, banners, or whatever. I might be a tad ticky, but it isn't that I totally despise it, I just don't generally prefer it.

I particularly dislike it when Christians use the term, but again, that's probably a personal preference there, too.

And don't get me started on X-mas.

What you guys think?

It's either Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah.

But you have no issue with Christ-mass?

Xmas (also X-mas) is a common abbreviation of the word Christmas. It is sometimes pronounced /ˈɛksməs/, but Xmas, and variants such as Xtemass, originated as handwriting abbreviations for the typical pronunciation /ˈkrɪsməs/. The "X" comes from the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter of the Greek word Christós (Χριστός), which became Christ in English.[1] The suffix -mas is from the Latin-derived Old English word for Mass.[2]

There is a common misconception that the word Xmas stems from a secular attempt to remove the religious tradition from Christmas[3] by taking the "Christ" out of "Christmas", but its use dates back to the 16th century.

Jesus is not the reason for the season.

What is the reason?

What is the reason?

It's the hassle of decorating and buying, buying and buying for kids and grand kids that get everything they need during the year anyway. I try to make myself enjoy it but am glad when December 26th comes. Do enjoy the week off of work and the company of some. Older and not a big crowd person anymore either. I've enjoyed the drama's and choir's in the past however. We do participate in buying gifts for the not so privileged.

I prefer "Merry Christmas!"

Also don't like to see Xmas abbreviated for Christmas.

I love Christmas time and contrary to what some think,
it is most definitely THE reason for the season.

It's wonderful to always set certain days aside for
thanking our Saviour for coming to Earth and for
giving Himself as the Supreme Sacrifice for the
whole world.

Love my JESUS!! :heart
