I have a deep respect for the elders, many of whom have passed on. I was sitting in the first row of the balcony with a friend who was attending for the first time. He was excited to hear Arnold preach, but said this message impacted him the most. When GA finished talking about how the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier guards are inspected to make sure everything is clean and in order....then he turned to the congregation and said, now let me inspect you. (Paraphrase) Man, it was powerful.

I wasn't there but have watched it on Youtube. It's one of those things that if you know what was going on and what happened shortly after the sermon it gives it aa whole new gravitas.
I have never heard him preach but I have preacher friends who back in the day considered him one of the best teachers in the UPC. Apparently he had some kind of sermon club or something like that where people subscribed to receive cassettes of his teaching monthly. This is back in the day before the internet and streaming.

Many there could feel something about the message and his delivery. It was very personal.
He Pastors a church in TX now, Tabernacle of Praise. Still appears to believe Oneness and New Birth, though not dress standards. His preaching has changed from exhortation style preaching to expository, going through books chapter by chapter and verse by verse. Much more subdued and more teacher than preacher.
I still enjoy listening to his messages online.

I said funny as in “oh dear, or oh my”. The reason is, Vesta Mangun and or any women that gets in a pulpit and brings the word of the Lord to a congregation of saints. That’s funny to me, what’s even more hilarious is men that submit to her voice and obey it to the “T”. Women do not belong in authority, I understand some men don’t have a problem with that, might even like having a women preach to him, in my opinion that’s just perverted.

This is new to me, so I don’t understand, usually the night services has 1 speaker. With BOTT they have a Vision speaker and then the main keynote speaker has anyone seen this before. Not being critical just wondering.
At BOTT, there are two speakers each evening.
The "Vision" speaker you're referring to is always the UPCI General Superintendent on the first night of the conference.
I attended several years throughout the 90s. Back then, there was "Morning Manna" with prayer and a message, then 2 speakers beginning around 930 or 10AM, a break for lunch and 2 more speakers beginning at 1PM and then the 2 speakers at night.
They have changed the schedule and have added forums in the morning now with two speakers following.

Thanks for sharing the link to the BOTT 2020 service. Great messages from both Bro. Bernard and Bro. Mangun with a wonderful prayer meeting afterward. I will be praying about the challenge from Bro. Mangun about bible studies. I do believe that bible studies are beneficial both for the gospel and for our own benefit too. Some really powerful testimonies were shared. Wonderful to see the power of prayer in action!

When I heard that last night that’s how I took it. Because it was stated twice that we understand there are people from “other fellowships”. If I went to a WPF or a ALJC meeting and at the WPF meeting they said “we understand there are folks here tonight that’s from other fellowships, I respect your leaders but we have the very best leader in Bro. Godair.” I would’ve thought the same thing as I did last night. Not upset, not being deceptive, just thought it was funny to state other fellowships, and to say that over the pulpit twice just made me wonder. That’s all.

POA has the best streaming / camera quality I have seen. for a church Sometime in the past few years they upgraded to HD widescreen cameras and they must spend money to have a lot of bandwidth as their streaming quality is awesome.
Every once in awhile I googlecast their church service webast to my 60" 4k tv in the den and it is the same quality as watching a cable or over the air broadcast.

This is a perfect example of the ridiculous snarky responses that has driven AFF into the ground. I suppose discussing how sermons on CD is superior to sermons on cassette is just fine but if a person mentions the quality of video equipment and the quality of the stream of video somehow that deserves your ridiculous comment.
Whether a person is hearing the word of God in person, on radio, cassette, CD, YouTube, Holy Ghost Radio, Video Webstreaming, or two tin cans with a string tied between them does not "enhance your understanding of and obedience to the word of God". The word of God is the word of God and the power is there regardless of the method a person is hearing it.
However it is nice to be able to enjoy in real tme as clear and as immersive experience as possible to the service / word of God and that is what POA's quality webstream allows. There is nothing wrong with something being high quality.

Nope. It's stupid snotty remarks like yours that have driven this place into the ground. Like all liberals, you suffer from a complete lack of tolerance of contrary opinions. My statement was not about sound quality on one medium vs sound quality on another. Nor was it about the virtues of "high quality" vs some luddite low-fi pursuit.

Hey all anyone ever needs to do is go through the old threads of this forum. From this forum's jump street there was hair pulling contests. There is a thread entitled "my disappointment with Apostolic Friends Forum (http://www.apostolicfriendsforum.com/showthread.php?t=33258&highlight=disappointment+Apostolic+Friends+FORUM)" my lands the bellyaching from CC1 goes back even farther than that. We are now in 2020 with a far more larger scale of Internet communication. Prodmently Facebook which multitasks. Not just forum discussion but finding whatever and whoever. Also in 2011 there was a dedicated thread to some of the conservatives who left the forum when another forum was created. the thread was called "Leave A Message For The Not So Departed Cons (http://www.apostolicfriendsforum.com/showthread.php?t=33585&highlight=leave+message+departed+cons)" Come on, like I said, since the FCF's owner passed away, it was all down hill from there. The most hysterical thing is the idea that a discussion group of all flavors of the same religion can be a bless me club. CC1 seriously, are you actually looking for this forum to return to a food fight between liberals and conservatives?
I had to edit this post to add this post from CC1

So Sunday night I get a text from one preacher, him and his wife were struggling with a spirit of infirmity. Can I pray with them. At 1 in the morning, got nothing better to do, why not?
I ask him, "where did this begin to oppress you?" He says, in LA at BOTT.
On Monday morning I get another text from another preacher who mentions that he also, independent from the first one, is struggling with infirmity. He is in the ER and is not doing good but they can't pin anything down yet. I ask him where this started and he said in LA at BOTT.

You ever looked at the word witchcraft mentioned in Galatians?
Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Look at the word witchcraft in the Greek
G5331
φαρμακεία
pharmakeia
far-mak-i'-ah
From G5332; medication (“pharmacy”), that is, (by extension) magic (literal or figurative): - sorcery, witchcraft.
This is where we get our word pharmacy.

There are threads about witchcraft/drugs
The last thread about depression went no where fast. It’s just amazing how many apostolic/Pentecostal church’s are dealing with these issues, and they look for the doctors for the answer.

Ill be in Kansas for Easter. Thats probably the closest I’m going to be getting to Texas in a long time.
So's I talked with two preachers that were there at BOTT. They said that some of the preaching was good, this guy from Spain was excellent but that it went over many of the heads there. That place is struggling with the spiritual.
I wonder what they released there?
In their little seminars about mind drugs and doctors.....?

Sister that may be. But what if a man told you that a demon caused him to deaf and dumb, what would you say?
How about a lady told you that she was hunched over for most of her life, because Satan hath bound her, what would you say to that?
I read a book about a man of God back in the 50’s and 60’s, he said in this book that in a church he was dealing with a spirit of Adultery and perversion. He woke one morning to see naked women dancing before him! I’m not trying to embarrass anyone, yet what would you say to that man? In the book he said preachers mocked him, yet through the Holy Ghost he uncovered adultery from the pew to the pastors wife. You can say well that’s different from what Armpit is talking about, maybe but it is? We say we believe in a spirit realm, but in what way, we say we believe we battle in the spirit, How? Against what? We battle against Satan, really? If I’m battling Satan up here, how can you battle Satan where you are? He is not God! He is not omnipresent, he cant be battling me, and then be across the world battling you. Did Jesus battle Satan every time?
It’s sad....

For the record: I began this thread as a point of info re BOTT's services, and to see who might be going.
Having been in and around since the the FCF days I know how threads can veer off and get back on track, as all good conversations do, but this thread has taken an ugly turn.
We are family, the family of God... I urge us all to remember that in all things. We may disagree, strongly disagree on whether Sister Vesta Layne should address the conference from behind the pulpit. We may question why the pastor's wife would choose a certain song... there may be a good reason for it, I don't know.
And so disagreements and discussions on issues are one thing... it's all apart of being on a public forum, but in the opinion of this old woman, the rest is unseemly.
I so appreciate n David and others who speak sense in confusion...

I watched BOTT 2020, and probably next year Ill do the same. Yet, it also shows us what Pentecost is going through. I mean when a Preachers wife declares I have taken Medication for depression and it helped me. When she says praying and fasting didn’t, what I am suppose to think? Do you Mrs. Barb agree with her decision? What that does is it opens doors, and you’ll see that same women with battle other issues, why? Because this is all too familiar to me, when you open one door another will open. So, Armpit gets 2 calls from separate ministers both claiming they're badly sick, one had to go to the Hospital! The other both him and his wife are sick and thats who he just knows about. Do you think it’s impossible that as she spoke about her depression it opened doors of infirmity to attack the church? Or, maybe its just coincidence? Or as you put it confusion....

Honestly, Brother Nic, I don't know...
I cannot speak to what this pastor's wife said because I was not there and did not hear it. On its face value... it is a fact that a medication can help in depression, however... to stand before anyone, and say that prayer and fasting did not help her, it makes no sense to do that. No, I don't agree with her saying that at all.
As for demonic spirits, as a layperson, and please understand I am just a little old lady with no credentials under my belt, just 68 years in and around the Church...
I am of the opinion that a spirit from hell doesn't need and open door. Just as the Holy Ghost is moving in and among His people I am certain the devil and his minions are fast at work as well.
Because, let’s think about this… the devil doesn’t need to constantly be on the case of the heathen… he’s got them in his grip. It is the saint of God he attacks with vengeance, and what better place than where we assemble together?
We see it in our church services all the time… the pastor is preaching, especially during messages on the Blood and the Name, and babies will wail, folks will be up and down, moving about causing a distraction… anything to disrupt.
The enemy comes to kill, steal, and destroy, SO could those things be from demonic oppression? I don’t have a clue, but the point of my post was to ask why some have to be so brittle about it. Can we not discuss as a Body without all the finger pointing?
I respect you for your attitude in questioning me… and it’s ‘Miss’ Barb, but you may call me just Barb… :nod

I wasn't there, so I really don't know all the details. But, did you just discount the individual as a kook, and bid him adieu? Was he a one time visitor? In cases such as the one you mention often times ministers get offended at such a comment. While the chap says he was feeling a devil while the choir pipes out "it's all in Him." The devil mentioned by the guest might very well be in the visitor.

I listened to his message and it was a call to unity.
It reminds me of an odd story though.
There once was an women who joined an independent Apostolic church which did not fellowship with the local UPC because they were too liberal. Eventually this woman's independent pastor stopped preaching holiness standards and also began to believe that people are saved at repentance. over time, most of the people left and either went to the UPC church or the Charismatic church, both of which had a great music and youth program.
Years passed and this woman became part of a group from the UPC church to start a church in the city in which she lived. At the same time, another UPC church also started a daughter work in this woman's city. These two churches were cordial but not really friendly with each other.
Years passed and the church that the woman came to her city with to start a daughter work left the city, so she began attending the remaining daughter work church.
So what is the moral of the story? be nice cause you don't know where you are going to end up.

Do you believe a spirit can afflict a person through sickness?
Yes.
But it doesn't matter what I believe here. Correlation does not imply causation. Some people go to BOTT and afterward, subjectively claim they were being harassed by a spirit of infirmity, and are so weakened by it, they have to call an AFF member to be delivered, with one even heading to the hospital and receiving medical attention for what they claimed is a demonic affliction, and then the AFF member they called comes here and makes a claim they picked up a spirit at BOTT because of something that was allegedly released there, whatever that means?
Whatever happened to loving the LORD your God with all your mind?
Do you not see that the more parsimonious conclusion is that, even if these folks really were afflicted by a spirit of infirmity, and it wasn't just Montezuma's Revenge or a migraine or some other NATURAL health issue, it's because they were already so spiritually infirm it was EASY for such a spirit to take hold of them and give them a good trouncing?
Let's be honest here. If Holy Spirit-filled, truth-believing and preaching saints of God are so easily whipped by a devil, how Holy Spirit-filled, truth-believing and preaching are they, as saints? Tred on serpents and scorpions? Bruise Satan's head under your feet? Cast out, devils? Anyone?
And why couldn't they recognize the attack for what it was, and rebuff it in the name of Jesus? Why did they need to make a phone call to someone who knows how to "pray deliverance"? Why don't they know how? BOTT is for ministers of the Gospel, right? But they can't kick the devil in the teeth when he comes smiling in their faces?
See, it's always blaming someone or something else for your personal weaknesses. It's not me, it was BOTT. It's not me, it's the depressed sister who takes meds who got a handclap. It's not me, it's R. Kelly's silly song being sung. It's never me, it's a spirit. It's not me. Not me, not me, not me. Sounds like Adam's finger-pointing at God and Eve, to me.
Grow up and take some responsibility for your own current level of spirituality, already.

Brother, I’m going say something on behalf of Armpit, I know him personally. Ill be preaching for him on Sunday night.
He received a call from an evangelist the Sunday after BOTT about 1 in the morning. Both the man and his wife are sick, sick enough to call his PASTOR and ask him to pray for them. The evangelist says he believes its a spirit of Infirmity, they pray. The next day he gets a call form a Pastor from another state and asks him to pray, the Pastor tells him I just got back from BOTT and know I’m headed to the hospital, because I’m not sure what’s going on!
To some they may throw that off as coincidence, to others it doesn’t fit their methodology of how God has to work, and we wonder why we cant see the supernatural? The Bible tells us we have to come to him as a child, not a biblical scholar!
The two men do not know each other, and the one doesn’t know the other. But yet Armpit gets a call from both of them with the same elements, one day apart, and the common denominator is BOTT! Not only that, yet while at the BOTT conference a Pastors wife confesses that she has been on Depression medication.... She proclaims I prayed, fasted, had others pray for me and it didn’t work. She was encouraging others with the same problem to do as she did!
You ask, “why didn’t they pray?” Thats a great question, how can they pray against something they dont believe exists? Oh sure they of course believe in Satan, go to 90% of the Pentecostal/Apostolic church’s and its Satan this and Satan that. Satan is attacking them while “he” is attacking another saint half way across the world. How can Satan do that, if he is just one? He’s not God, God is omnipotent, not Satan!
The problem is we dont believe in the spirit realm! You can tell me you do, when you believe 90% of your problems is just physical ailments you dont believe in the spirit realm. It’s amazing to me, we quote the scripture “weapons of our WARFARE are not carnal, but are mighty through God pulling down of STRONGHOLDS” yet we dont live it. Ask someone to name the spirits the Bible calls out, and they’ll look at you like you have a third eye!
Do you believe a spirit can be released on what we say? The Bible say to speak life, death and life are in the power of the tongue. As you praise God you’ll feel God, you’ll say their is victory in Jesus, and you’ll feel the excitement, why because your speaking life! Now, what if I start talking about how Horror, fear etc your going to feels a presence why, because your speaking about it. When that Pastors wife proclaimed what she did, you dont have to believe it, but she also spoke a spirit into that place. I pray God would open our eyes to see beyond the natural, and if we would allow him to lead us into a place of the spirit we have not been.
It’s not the “not me”, Brother these souls, I’m talking about preachers as well they have no clue about the spirit realm. Do you know how to pray for deliverance fro someone? Do you understand what you’ll feel with certain spirits? Not every spirit is the same, call me a kook, I’ve been called worse! This is real, more real than you want to believe.
That song she sang is worldly. He’s not blaming the song he just used that to show what was going on at the conference. You may think nothing of it, “I believe I can fly” sounds good, use it to sing about the rapture. But you would have a problem if she sang Hells Bells from AC/DC, why??? Hells Bells was created from satanic worshippers, we cant have that right? While I believe I can fly was created by a child rapist....

Brother Nic, I understand your point here, but may I add my thoughts to this? I have been thinking long and hard about it…
First of all, we would all have a problem with AC/DC, so that is rather far fetched in my opinion.
Secondly, you wrote that he used the song to show what was going on at the conference… what was going on that was so out there that it must be discussed here, casting aspersions on a conference I am told was outstanding in Word and Spirit?
I don’t know Sister Mangun from Adam’s house cat, but from what I know of her I cannot imagine she would do something so blatantly 'worldly' as to sing I Believe I Can Fly for any other reason than she felt it right to do so. Bringing worldliness into the conference goes beyond the pale for her, again, as far as I can tell from my house.
The fact that the song was written by a supposed rapist… well, we sing a LOT of songs written by a host of folks with less than stellar characters. We sing Going Up Yonder; Hallelujah, Praise the Lamb; Thank You For Giving To the Lord, and more which were written by men with great sin attached to their lives and reputations. We have not stopped, as far as I know, to question their flaws or abominable sins.
I simply do not believe that singing that song ushered in a spiritual attack. I was in a church service one time, and the sister sang Wind Beneath My Wings, with gospel lyrics… it was wonderful. That song as even been sung at funerals…
This is not directed at you personally, but at us all… if we have concerns or questions about the song why not go to the source? Ask Sister Mickey Mangun where her heart and intentions were. I’m sure she will answer us…

When I mentioned “he mentioned that to show us what was going on in the conference.” I didn’t mean that song ushered in a spiritual attack. She may be ignorant of what that song means, and who it was sung by. Sis. Mangun signing that song is low on the pole for me.
I understand a lot of the songs we sign are not from Apostolics. Yet, the Bible says let everything that have breathe praise the Lord. And I know the example I gave is probably far fetched, I use that to illustrate that there times we look for the obvious, while they're are a lot of things that are not that obvious.

I will repeat, it's garbage to blame BOTT for two (out of 3K+) getting sick. Absolute garbage.
It's either bad seafood or other issues NOT having to do with BOTT which caused the illnesses.
My kids went to church Wednesday and within a day or two were sick with the flu. Should I blame the church for a "spirit of infirmity" and giving them the flu?
Absurd!
I agree with Votive. If you are so spiritually weak that some spirit can attach itself to you at an apostolic Minister's conference ... The conference is the lesser of the issue.

You want to believe that it was seafood, or natural issues thats fine.
You dont have to be “weak” to be afflicted. There is a difference between, affliction, oppression, and possession.
True story, a sinner in the church was being delivered from a spirit of Adultery. The man who was delivered said he saw the spirit leave his body walk around the Pastor and enter into him. He told this to the evangelist that was ministering deliverance....
2 years later the Pastor fell into adultery!
Was the Pastor weak? Was Job weak? It’s ignorant to say you have to be weak for a spirit to afflict you.
What is Spiritual Warfare? How often does it happen?

Have there been any updates? I'm interested in what happened to the man who was rushed to the hospital.
You know the flu is epidemic status around here. I have a close friend from Bible School whose whole family has been diagnosed with the same type B influenza virus my twins have been battling. My brother and his large family from Colorado just finally got over the flu in their household.
I find it more likely that these are suffering from a stomach virus or pre-existing condition than they caught some demonic spirit of infirmity while attending a minister's conference.

Either he made it up or that Pastor was dead, dry and empty.
"...he saw the spirit leave his body walk around the Pastor and enter into him."
I do not believe a spirit-filled individual can be possessed by a demonic spirit. I do believe a person can be afflicted, but I do not believe they can be possessed.

I’m not here to push my beliefs on any of you. When I see something I believe I’ll comment just like anyone of you. I’ll post something that I would like to discuss, and usually goes off into another subject, I’m guilty of that I confess.
The spirit realm is one area that you either believe in it or you don’t. I’m of the persuasion that you can’t believe in a area 50% and be considered as believing. That’s not a jab at anybody, that’s what’s great about the body there are many areas that I’m not skilled in and many of you are very well able to be in those areas. I believe in the spirit realm, I believe it’s involved in your life. I believe 90%-95% of what I go through is spiritual. I’m not saying every headache or bellyache is caused by a spirit, on the other hand I believe a spirit can use that against you. With that said, seeing what I’ve seen, and hearing what I’ve heard I don’t cast anything off as absurd. I’ve seen way too much to say that, and I will continue to ask God to lead me deeper into that realm. I respect all of you and your opinion and collectively together we’re one awesome bride.

That’s interesting. The story was from Bro. Beans book. When I got into church almost 20 years ago. The church I was part of was very small, so I spent a lot of time by myself. I was given Bro. Beans 2 books, it helped me a lot and allowed me to understand a lot of what I was going through. If you don’t have any, message me your address I could send you them.

Elder Bean’s teaching in the prayer series settled the “ring issue” for me. I know it was on the recordings but I don’t recall if Elder Carrier included it in the book or not. It did a lot more than that for me...but listening to that was when my decision was made.

It’s in the book. The entire book was awesome to read. I still preach about the example he used about the pilot seat. A preacher and Bro. Bean were awaken early in the morning to pray in the spirit of intercession, and they prayed for a couple hours. They left that same morning for another country, when they were landing the pilot cut the runway short about a couple miles and they were 5 feet from the Caribbean. In the book its said that they felt like a hand picked that plane up and they were able to land safely. Shortly after they landed, they took off again to reach their final destination, while in flight the pilot came to them passed all the other passengers, asked them if they would like to come into the cockpit. they both went in, and they saw all the controls, they got to hear the pilots talk to the tower, they saw the mountain peaks ahead, they saw if there were any storms or obstacles. The friend of Bro. Bean wasn’t very interested in that and went back to seat with the rest of the passengers. They allowed Bro. Bean to stay until they landed, what a blessing. He then went on to say God showed him that there is a place in the spirit realm of God that we can see what’s ahead, while others may just want to be a passenger, we can see the mountains that are coming, we can see the storms before they arrive. I preach about that, i tell my Jail ministry class about that.
When I read that, I told the Lord thats my desire to be in a place with him so intimate, so close. Just last week the Lord gave me a dream and when i awoke i knew what was coming that day, couple hours later, boom it happened. I told the Lord Thank you, Jesus for showing before it came. It makes my walk that much easier. I love this, just like all of you I can talk about this all day. We don't have to live like a son or daughter of God, we don't have to live like a servant or a friend, we can live like a wife with God. My wife knows me better then my kids, better than my friends, better than any servants (don't have any), I give my wife the checkbook, she knows my secrets, Praise God, I love this.

Remember Sister Barb, The prince of Persia withstood the angel 21 days from delivering the message to Daniel. How does a demon withstand an angel for 21 days?
Sister, the difference between Possession and Oppression is ownership. I don't believe a spirit can possess a saint that has the Holy Ghost. Yet, a spirit can oppress you, but if people don't understand a spirit and how it works what are they going to cast the blame on?
1 Corinthians 12:10
To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
One of the gifts for the church is discerning of Spirits. More than one!

I’ve read that portion and listened to that several times. A very powerful testimony. I preached a message recently about the God who dwells in eternity, and how our scope of view is so limited while we are in the flesh. Yet, if we reach beyond the flesh, into the Spirit, we can see things beyond the limitations of time! My how I want God to be able to trust me like that!
I felt a witness in your words sir. God bless you!

Let me see if I can unpack this, because this just isn't adding up.
A man feels the need to call his pastor and ask for prayer, even in the wee hours of the morning. Perhaps a little unusual, but if the situation seemed dire, it makes more sense why the call happened.
Here's what doesn't make sense, at least to me:
This is first about an evangelist and his wife, then about a pastor. A man who travels all over the place entering into all kinds of spiritual situations from church to church, with who knows how many sinners and demoniacs possibly coming to the meetings, so he can preach/teach and stir up some revival. If he's any good at what he does, and if he has a good head on his shoulders, he knows he can't go from church to church without being prayed up, full of the Holy Spirit, and ready for anything. And much the same can be, or at least should be, said about the pastor, even if he doesn't do much in the way of itinerant ministry from church to church.
Even if the first man is relatively new to evangelizing in this way, or if the second man is relatively new to pastoring, both of them have had to have served a decent amount of time in ministry, in the spiritual trenches, as it was, before they were ever commissioned to go forth with the Gospel. Right?
In 1 John 2:13-14, John wrote how he wrote to the young men because they had overcome the Wicked One, and then, because they are strong, and the Word of God lives in them, and that they have overcome the Evil One.
But, in 1 John 2:12, and then also briefly in v. 13, John mentions little children. He doesn't say anything about how strong they are, or whether or not the Word of God lives in them, and certainly nothing about how they have overcome the Wicked One/Evil One. Rather, he writes about how their sins are forgiven and they know the Father.
This passage is showing us levels of spiritual progression into maturity, finishing with a group called "fathers". I would not expect someone who ought to be categorized as a little child as someone who should be evangelizing or pastoring. Evangelists and pastors at the minimum should be a part of the "young men" group, wouldn't you say?
But, these two men go to a conference with several thousand Spirit-filled, Apostolic believers and because a couple of questionable elements over the three days occur, they get jumped by a spirit they can't do anything about without outside help? Are they little children? Or are they young men who have overcome the Wicked One/Evil One?
If they are children, they shouldn't be evangelizing and pastoring. If they are young men, or fathers, how is it they didn't have the discernment and power and authority in the Holy Spirit to do anything about their predicament?
Or is there a third option, here? That it's nothing of the above, but rather, there is no spirit of infirmity, rather, just some conditioned over-reactions?
To some they may throw that off as coincidence...
Or disregard it as nonsense?
...to others it doesn’t fit their methodology of how God has to work...
Because it doesn't properly align with the Holy Scriptures?
...and we wonder why we cant see the supernatural?
The main reason people can't see the supernatural is that they are constantly being blinded with pseudospiritual nonsense right out of the charismatic's playbook by their leaders, preachers, and teachers who don't know what they're talking about.
The Bible tells us we have to come to him as a child, not a biblical scholar!
Unless you're Jesus and at the age of 12 you are astounding and confounding rabbis in the temple with your Biblical understanding. Or you're Paul, Biblical scholar par excellence.
Yes, we must come to God as children, but we are not to stay there. We are to mature, and receive strong meat, and grow in grace and our knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Spirit of Truth leads us into all truth so that we can all become Biblical scholars. Our increased understanding and knowledge of God, His Son, and the Holy Scriptures are what moves someone through the stages of a child, a young man, and finally, a father, mentioned earlier, from 1 John 2.
There is, therefore, no reason to slam-dunk the idea of being Biblically literate up to and including at the scholarly level. And before you throw Acts 4:13, go read the Epistles by the Apostles and tell me just how unlearned and ignorant these men actually were. The idea of the Twelve being unlearned and ignorant was merely a perception made against them. It was far from the truth.
The two men do not know each other, and the one doesn’t know the other. But yet Armpit gets a call from both of them with the same elements, one day apart, and the common denominator is BOTT!
And? How many other common denominators were there that neither you, Armapeet, or even the folks in question, aren't aware of. But you see what you want, forgetting the need for any other facts or actual proof of anything.
Not only that, yet while at the BOTT conference a Pastors wife confesses that she has been on Depression medication.... She proclaims I prayed, fasted, had others pray for me and it didn’t work. She was encouraging others with the same problem to do as she did!
So what?! Even if she had gotten up, and started cursing and cussing and summoning every devil she could think of to call upon and began blaspheming the Holy Spirit, it doesn't mean jack to anyone else's spiritual condition, unless they are infirm and on the verge of apostasy themselves and willing to give the devil a place in their own hearts.
I mean, come on, already.
You're just ranting here. But think through for a moment what you wrote above at the end. Satan is not omnipotent. But neither are spirits of any kind, except the Holy Spirit. But you would have spirits running amok against the saints non-stop, all day every day, oppressing and afflicting, caving in their faith, overcoming them constantly. Why was the Son of God manifested? So He could contend with the works of the devil and come to a draw? He wins some and He loses some?
Your constant preaching of spirits behind every issue, lurking in every corner, is what is causing people to succumb so easily to spiritual afflictions. They become convinced that even as saints full of the Holy Spirit, they stand a good chance of getting their butts walloped by some unholy imp fiend, and they believe, and so, manifest no works of the devil destroying sonship of God.
The problem is we dont believe in the spirit realm! You can tell me you do, when you believe 90% of your problems is just physical ailments you dont believe in the spirit realm.
Again, you are just ranting here. You ought not to be telling people they don't believe in the spirit realm when the reality is, they simply deny your version of it as a bunch of super-spiritual hoo-doo hokum.
It’s amazing to me, we quote the scripture “weapons of our WARFARE are not carnal, but are mighty through God pulling down of STRONGHOLDS” yet we dont live it.
Speak for yourself, Brother.
But notice something, the weapons we use are not CARNAL. That is, of the flesh. Take a long look at any of the lists of sins mentioned in the Bible, like Galatians 5:19-21. They are all called works of the FLESH. Not, activities spirits undertake to make you fall. Jesus said it's from out of the abundance of the human heart these things manifest. Not out of the activity of myriads of uncontrollable spirits running roughshod over God's holy people.
Name a sin and you don't have to find a spirit to blame, just look at the flesh. We sin when WE are drawn away by our own lusts. Is there a spirit of lust? Yes, it's called the human spirit. Quit looking for a serpent to blame, Eve. The devil didn't make you do anything. Resist him and he shall flee (unless he was summoned at BOTT, I guess?).
Ask someone to name the spirits the Bible calls out, and they’ll look at you like you have a third eye!
Maybe because too much third eye is involved?
Do you believe a spirit can be released on what we say? The Bible say to speak life, death and life are in the power of the tongue.
Speak life, or having the power of life or death in the tongue has nothing to do with releasing spirits.
As you praise God you’ll feel God, you’ll say their is victory in Jesus, and you’ll feel the excitement, why because your speaking life!
That's not how it works or is what is meant by speaking life. And sometimes, maybe even many times, if not most times, you praise God whether you feel anything. You declare victory in Jesus regardless of any excitement you feel, because you KNOW it is true, not because you get a feeling.
Now, what if I start talking about how Horror, fear etc your going to feels a presence why, because your speaking about it.
Only if the audience to whom you speak has given you an unlicensed authority and live, move, and have their being in what you say. If they are walking in the light as He is in the light, and you start speaking a bunch of nonsense garbage, they aren't going to feel anything except a rebuke coming on.
When that Pastors wife proclaimed what she did, you dont have to believe it, but she also spoke a spirit into that place.
And the presence of Almighty God wasn't enough to do anything about it? Or maybe He was busy talking, or pursuing, or was in a journey? Maybe He was sleeping and needed to be woken up?

I pray God would open our eyes to see beyond the natural, and if we would allow him to lead us into a place of the spirit we have not been.
This is all well and good, but don't be surprised when He answers and you aren't prepared to see because you've been looking at this all wrong.
It’s not the “not me”, Brother these souls, I’m talking about preachers as well they have no clue about the spirit realm.
Anybody else on your hit-list?
Do you know how to pray for deliverance fro someone? Do you understand what you’ll feel with certain spirits? Not every spirit is the same, call me a kook, I’ve been called worse! This is real, more real than you want to believe.
Your ego is showing. Here's how:
Because you are ignorant of what you are saying when you speak of praying for deliverance for someone. First, there is no Scripture anywhere that tells us to pray for deliverance for someone. Neither Jesus or the Twelve or Paul ever prayed for someone to be delivered. They simply rebuked the devil and cast it out.
Secondly, the concept of deliverance is barely even used in the NT. And in the context it is used, it always refers to either the remission of your sins, being saved, or rescued.
But here you are praying for the remission of sins, being saved, or for the rescuing saints of the Highest. Guess these folks aren't all that saintly if they are in need of remission, salvation, and spiritual rescue when you pray for them.
I mean, if we are talking heathen sinners, sure, of course, people need these things. But remission of sins, salvation, and rescue is effected by repentance, baptism in the name of Jesus, and receiving the Holy Spirit. All of which is something the Lord Jesus works out on their behalf. And if they are demonized, you cast it out if they want to be free. If they don't, the demon stays and you move along until they repent.
That song she sang is worldly.
You walk through Walmart and you hear The Weekend sing "I can't feel my face when I'm with you, but I like it" and suddenly you're afflicted by a spirit of cocaine addiction? Or Walmart Radio plays Losing My Religion by REM and suddenly, you're afflicted by a spirit of apostasy?
I mean, just today, I heard Walmart Radio play Filter's Hey Man Nice Shot, a song celebrating R. Budd Dwyer blowing his brains out on live TV in 1987. Was I suddenly overcome by a spirit of suicide?
But sister sings a lame song and all hell breaks loose at BOTT. How do any of you guys who believe this stuff even get out of bed, with all the spirits that come around every time someone says something, does something, or, God-forbid, sings something stupid or unrighteous?
He’s not blaming the song he just used that to show what was going on at the conference.
You always find the devil you're looking for. Pessimism and/or cynicism grows on the spirit like a mold, especially when you're always ready to find the flaw, see the bad, and complain about the unseemly.
I also have a problem with people singing I Believe I Can Fly. I would have walked out the moment I heard it. But it's not because I was worried a spirit was going to pounce me, but because I think singing that song is a disaster and had and has no part in one's worship offering to God. Certainly not mine. Anyone else can do what they want because they gonna do what they gonna do with or without me being there.

I just don't understand why a standing ovation was given to a testimony of how God failed and man prevailed? I would expect that at the DNC, not a Pentecostal conference.

Probably felt a need to demonstrate some kind of love, support, and respect for the sister being brave enough to tell her story, and less to do with God failed but man prevailed, even if that's how it susses out in the end.
I would not have stood, personally, because not knowing her, and not knowing why she was depressed, or really anything about the situation, I would not have stood to show anything because maybe on the other side of the story is a whole lot of unrighteousness that no one is talking about. I wouldn't be accusing either, just not demonstrating anything one way or the other, unless more facts came forward. But then again, I don't get caught up in muh feelz.

Still wish I could’ve actually heard the whole thing from start to finish.
I’m just not getting the part about folks shouting their hair down over Prozac.

Great Job!
I don’t mean this as rude, I don’t think I’ve seen anyone take apart a post as you have. :thumbsup
Like I said Brother, I wasn’t the one called, I was just trying to tie loose ends. I apparently didn’t do a good job. I will say I’m sorry if you felt an ego coming from the post. You and I do not see anything closely related to the spirit realm, and that’s fine. When I mentioned about coming to God as a child, I don’t believe it was about spiritual maturity, but I believe it had everything to do with faith. Raw childlike faith to see what “mature adults” don’t believe can be. Believing God is their supplier and not the mindset “God won’t do anything for you, you can do for yourself.”
You and I are very different, I believe a spirit can be released by the power of the tongue, I’ve seen it, I felt it. You don’t and that’s fine. You don’t believe a demon can afflict or maybe oppress a super (I’m being facetious) spirited saint of God, when simply that is not true, the Bible calls this warfare and if you believe that his kingdom is an earthly kingdom then I could understand why you believe what you said. Warfare is where the enemy attacks you, yet if the saint doesn’t understand what spirit it is how will they fight? The Bible says “discerning of spirits” (more than one) why if we can just say be gone in Jesus name? Why discern? With the knowledge and wisdom we should have as mature saint we should know there is an attack, why do we have a gift of discerning of spirits? The old timers (I say that in respect) would say they would see traveling spirits go across the sky, imagine someone in here say they say that... oh I could imagine what would be said! The elders would come against a spirit of adultery and lust and the spirit would parade naked women in front of the eyes of the man that was coming against them!!!! I wonder how Verbel Bean would answer “that’s not in the Bible!” I have a mentor, who as an elderly man travels and preachers everywhere he goes. He is 90% self funding, he sleeps 2-3 hours a day, I asked him why, he said because Jesus has so much going on that I don’t want to miss any of it. That’s the childlike faith I’m talking about Votivesoul. And no, I have no hit list, I just post what I live and believe, just like yourself.

Someone let’s you get behind a pulpit and address the congregation!?
