Dont build your ministry trying to be like this preacher or that preacher.

Get in the Word and get alone with God.

Volume doesnt = annointing

Follow the Truth in the Word wherever it takes you.

God will put people in your life to help encourage and edify you...you dont have to always agree with them but respect goes a long way.

Put yourself on a path where you have a lot of contact with people...God loves them and if you will yield to Him He will use you to speak to those people.

When it comes to the hand of God moving in your life there are very few true
coincidences...can and will have some of the most random encounters that will open up so many doors to minister and be ministered to.

Pray to be able to see opportunity. Dont automatically assume that opportunity isnt there because you dont see it yet.

Be humble or be humbled.

Be honest with what you dont know.

The ministry of reconciliation is important to Him...and the goodness of God draws men to repentence...look for ways to embody that goodness...that right there will open more doors for ministry than anything.

The average person you meet couldnt care less about "churchisms". Drop the lingo and the filler and be real.

Being real means being honest with your faults and struggles...people need to hear what God has helped you with and IS helping you with.

Dont embellish or slant scripture out of context...lying is still a sin and you dont get a pass cause the end justifies the means.

The "annointing" is the Spirit of God resting upon you...you have your own annointing...dont chase anyone elses...it doesnt work that way.

Know what you believe and why you believe it.

Surround yourself with ministers of proven character...people that wont just tell you what you want to hear.

Anyways....take that for what its worth...or not lol Its only a religious forum with a bunch of crazy strangers. 😁

I was saved at the age of 17 on Monday night March 28, 1955.
Not too long after that there was this "feeling" sorta like a voice within me telling me that I was "called" to serve God.

The noun "minister" means "servant." The verb "to minister" means "to serve."

For over half a century I have "served God" or "ministered" in various ways. Some times it was preaching from a pulpit. Some times it was teaching publicly. Some times it was praying for someone personally one on one or some times not even near them physically but praying for them. Some times it was speaking an encouraging word. Some times it was giving them money to pay a doctor bill or to pay for a prescription. Some times it was bringing groceries to them. Some times it was buying them a meal. Some times it was taking them in my vehicle and letting them practice driving and parking and taking their test for a driver's license.

Ministry comes in many forms. I believe we serve God by serving people, and the people we serve are not always God's people.

I believe this elder has passed on. However, he left these words of wisdom behind. Maybe they will help.

If Jesus calls us to follow and we dont...can we really be right with Him? I get what you are saying...Im just wondering if our disobedience to His calling is detrimental to our relationship with Him.

Yes best advice is don’t ask advice on a forum with people that you have no idea who they are.

Every Christian is called to preach. That is to proclaim Christ. Do you have a burning desire to present every man perfect in Christ? To bring them to the full stature of Jesus?

If not you are not ready. Continue seeking God. Pulpit Preachers are a dime a dozen. Do you witness to those around you? Do any street ministry?

This is more exciting than to preach to other believers safe within the walls of a Church building.

Hi Jaydin,

I'm not a Preacher, I'm a woman after all.... "roll eyes", but,

I do have some family members who are. :)

I have no doubt that God truly lets a person know when He
calls them.

I'm sure you have prayed earnestly and have confided in your
Pastor.

Continue to pray and fast. I will help you pray.

May God use you mightily in these last days.

Those that aren't don't.

My Husband, Retired Pastor, always told our sons if you can get out of being a preacher, do so but if God calls you, obey Him. It definitely is not an easy life. They have seen their father's ministry and I guess God did not call them to preach. Both in church and support their church in finances and I think both are elders. Both successful in their job profession. He has blessed them both. Both have good families - all involved in church and "helps" ministry. LOL

Sure it’s simple.

But what fun is simple?

For some reason we feel compelled to take the simple, and make it complex. Then we can make it exclusive. Because, who wants to be a part of something that is open to whosoever will? How can we take pride in something that is available to everyone?

People called will know they are called. You know that you know.

And a way to tell is if their preaching causes people to get incredibly blessed and strongly impacted with the message. It's easy to tell when someone is just wanting to be nice and say the preaching was good, as opposed to the same person being tremendously affected and reaching out to God as a result.

Says the guy who has been sitting in a trailer since 1978, and does the lionshare of his "preaching" on line.

Coming to the internet and asking how do you know if your called to preach?

Is a great indicator you are not.

Oh, and Mike, obviously the asker of the question is asking about pulpit ministry. You always have to make it about Hippy Jesus. sandals, burlap bag vest, and tie dye shirt. :heeheehee

Just some advice on people who have experience

Know Him in whom you have believed (2 Timothy 1:12; also Jeremiah 9:24).

Be a vessel meet for the Master's use (2 Timothy 2:21).

Perfect holiness in the fear of God, cleansing yourself of all filthiness of flesh and spirit (2 Corinthians 7:1).

Preach the Gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15).

If you seek the approval of men instead of God or if you desire to please men, you will not be a servant of Christ (Galatians 1:10).

Remember that the creative force through which the Father made all things, that is to say, the Logos of God, is manifested through preaching (Titus 1:3 with John 1:1-3).

If you ever attempt to speak, let it only be as an oracle of God (1 Peter 4:11).

If you would manifest your sonship of God while you preach, you must be led by the Spirit of God as you preach (Romans 8:14).

I would think that instead of picturing yourself on the platform with a microphone in your hand,
picture yourself ministering to the needs of the church and the lost in your city.,
find ways to serve in your local church easing any burdens on the church leadership.

Talk to your pastor about how you feel, then be willing to do anything you are asked to do for any length of time you are asked to do it. Fall in love with ALL the work of God before you fall in love with the pulpit. Pray, study and win souls, but don’t do it for your ā€œministryā€.

Called to preach? Look out your window, there's your audience. Plenty of folks out there in your city. Go get 'em.

Pray, know the Word, and be sincere. God will have His way, though it may not be what you expect.

Good thing Jesus didn't tell that to the Apostles. It would of taken way longer than 3 1/2 years waiting for those dudes to measure up to Spic and Span.

Yes best advice is don’t ask advice on a forum with people that you have no idea who they are.

There is a lot of truth to this. We can offer advice as far as this forum will allow us. You need to confide into your Pastor, and leaders in the church, talk with them.

Proverbs 18:16
A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.

Whatever gift you have, God will use you in it, don’t be impatient allow the Holy Ghost to use you in His time, and Will. Allow the great men in your life to lead you as they follow Christ.

Just some advice on people who have experience

Be sure... be really sure of the calling. Some folks admire preachers, believe they can preach, and then almost self-destruct. Preaching/teaching does carry a heavy burden and a double responsibility. Be absolutely certain of:

The call
The beliefs
The backing and support of your leaders

Take it from someone who has learned the hard way. The pulpit is nothing to play with. Just saying.
