God instituted it and I am a believer in it. I wish they would happen a little quicker though so all the money isn’t wasted on them. Just curious if most are for it or against it?

In theory, I am for it.

In this country, a person is more likely to face terminal justice if they are a person of color or poor.

I would not want to serve on a jury where the death penalty would be an option.

I’m against it.

What’s your reasoning?

What’s your reasoning?

I’m against taking a mans/women’s life. If a man and or women commit a crime, yes they should be punished. In my opinion not by death, our law is mercy, love, forgiveness.

I remember the Kasey Anthony case, and I was in a church talking afterwards and I don’t remember how her case came up as a topic. One of the men started saying she should be killed, you do the crime you pay..... and when I heard that it felt wrong for an Apostolic to be saying that. Remember the worst of the worst can still be saved! Charles Manson before he died could’ve asked forgiveness and God would’ve forgave him. He could’ve received the Holy Ghost.

I agree with that.

So you agree with the death penalty as long as some one else throws the switch?

Yah what’s wrong with that? I love our military and thankful for it but don’t have 1 ounce of a desire to be a part of it. Just because I’m “ pro “ something doesn’t mean I want to be involved with it. In fact there are somethings in the Bible I’m for but don’t even agree with. But I know I’m wrong and the word is right so I’m for it.

You get jury duty, but we no longer have a draft. But when we did have a draft some folks weren't so quick to see their children go off to fight in a rice paddy. But like I said we have jury duty, and since you want to see people get what is coming to them. Then you should do the heavy lifting if you are ever chosen to send a teenager to fry.

Do your homework and you will see most of the time the Jude is the one that gives the sentence not the jury. God is the one that came up with this idea not me.

To really support the death penalty, you have to have pretty high faith in our judicial system.

On face value I’m not for it. I guess my view can change on that one day.

You can oppose it for the fact of not believing in the judicial system but I don’t believe you can oppose it with the word of God. Even Jesus never condemned it in his earthly ministry and would have plenty of chances to do so.

Jury nullification is established through the constitution as a safeguard for jurors of our peers to nullify unjust laws. Why are you against that?

Isnt that what salavation does for us? The law demands death but that death is nullified by the work of Christ?

Jesus never openly condemned slavery, either. But that is hardly an endorsement for it.

Paul told a slave to go back to his master, Philemon 1:12.

You see, this is why Jesus' mercy endureth forever. The LAW demanded death, but Jesus gives us life. Death penalty isn't foolproof, and definitely not perfect. They have injected, gassed, and electrocuted a lot of innocent people. Same thing with war. It isn't like our plastic green army men all in a row. In that plastic bag filled with those green soldiers there were never plastic CIVILIANS. Screaming women clutching babies, toddlers grabbing onto their mother's skirt. The elderly hobbling over as they try to escaping whizzing bullets. While I Yankee Doodle Dandy my way through life whistling Toby Keith - Made In America! I don't see, or even am I aware of, the different facets of my wanting to spread Democracy at the end of a bayonet.
Same goes for a 19 year old teenager who while raised in church didn't have a clue about the so called friends they had made. Who led them straight into the mouth of the beast. When all was said in done, they are now sitting on death row. The teenager didn't pull the trigger, didn't even know why they were heading to the certain place, all they know is now through a broken court system, they are facing execution. A frightened teenager who never had to face an interrogation made statements without lawyering up. Now faces the death penalty. Don't get me wrong, there are people who deserve judgement, but what about all those who didn't. Who were hanged, beheaded, faced a firing squad, poisoned, gassed, or electrocuted? I wouldn't want THEIR blood on my hands.

Under the law, an eye for and eye and life for a life still had to be witnessed by two or three witness before it was supposed to be put into effect. While the death penalty sounds good, it takes a lot to prove one did the crime.

How many innocent people died at the hands of lynch mobs, because someone said they did something they did not do.

I heard a judge just last week say that in America the founding fathers put together our judicial system the way they did because, they felt it was better that a person that was guilty go free, than one person that was not guilty should be sentenced. And they were not even considering the death penalty at the time.

Sadly our law system and prison system is totally broken down. Our judges are politicians so they are politicking behind the bench. In this country, the more money you have, the more you are able to go free.
