View Full Version : What Are You Doing To "Covid" While At Home
The pun the n the title is intentional. What are you doing while stuck at home during the Covid crisis? First a big shout out to my dear wife who is constantly finding ng things for me to do while we all are stuck at home.:foottap
My wife is spring cleaning. Kristin is taking an online course, and once a week, the youth are getting together on Thier phones via FaceTime I think it is? With the rest of the youth of the Church. I am trying to read some of my books, some for the second or third time.
I am researching something to do business wise as my position may not be there after the return of full employment in Society.
A good friend who is owner of a Christian bookstore may retire inbthw future.
My wife is encouraging me to organize some of my things.
I am looking to order some things from a place called Amazon, and eBay, ever hear of them?:hmmm
I went shopping at a store where they have the first hours for seniors. There was only myself and two others at the store at the time. However the things I needed were not there because someone thought the end of the world was coming and that they wanted enough bars of soap to last a hundred years!!!!:shifty
What are you doing?š¤

Unfortunately I am not working, so my days mainly consist of taking care of family.
I have elderly parents who are terrified to go out in public, so I run all of their errands. They watch too much mainstream news every day which seems to paralyze them with fear.
When not out running errands, I spend time walking around the lake, praying, reading the Word and surfing the web.

Sounds good! I know it is easy to let the news cycle paralyze one with fear.
It as if this silent enemy (Covid 19) is lurking around waiting to pounce on you.
It is another opportunity to trust God!

My daughter and I have been doing kitchen karaoke while experimenting with various recipes. Today we made the 2 ingredient pizza dough. Doing a lot of reading and cleaning out of closets. Also, missing my Grand-Darlings something fierce. One is 3 and the other is 10 months. Longest I've ever gone without seeing them

Other than over the phone staff meetings, life is unchanged for us out in the country.
Getting a haircut was the only real challenge. Our daughter cut it for me.
Iāve been in my basement chemistry lab experimenting injections with covid 19 infected rats, I mean bats, using things I got from under the kitchen sink, along with more deadly things like what I was able to obtain through McDonald's drive through...looking to find my early retirement when I come up with the cure for this mess.

Ah, there you go. I salute you sir, you deserve a medal.
So, does your mom still bring you dinners downstairs?š¤

She used to quietly set in on the top step just inside the door...until the rats got a hold of her. Now Iām stuck with finning for myself.

Do you have Skip The Dishes where you are?š¤
My wife says we don't have Skip The Dishes here, even though we do. She asks me to wash
The dishes, and I say Skip The Dishes.š

No, I am not afraid of this "covid thing"! Fear is the lack of faith and I strive to live by faith. The fear that people are gripped with boils down to fearing death.
As a follower of Jesus Christ, I am confident that He will keep me and if He decides that my days on earth are over, then I'll look forward to the resurrection.

Life has continued on here for us just the same. Thankful we live in a rural community and the grocery stores are fully stocked. I've got seeds started in my greenhouse, and planting season starts around the first of June. I've been busy making masks for the local hospital and nursing home. But it is sad to see many restaurants that have temporarily closed, and you wonder how all the little businesses are going to make out with the continued shutdowns.
I live in a town of 15k people.
No positive covid tests yet. Many negative.
BUT, we are on lockdown in that only ādeemed necessaryā businesses are allowed to work, and everyone else is suppose to be staying at home.
I have a small business w one employee and we are still working about 3-4 days a week.
No more than 10 people in every place in town. I donāt get that because in my opinion it should be based on the square footage of the building.
Drive throughs at restaurants only allowed.
Weāre gathering atleast once a week w different folks from our church, in our homes.
Under 10 at church bldg theyāre doing one video on Sunday, and pastor doing another on Wednesday for a bible study.
Taking food to elderly n visiting once a week.
Building my garden fencing to keep the deer out. Iāll shoot them instead, if my freezer gets too empty :)
Trying to be patient, yet understand where our Lord is taking us, or if he is rezeroing His church on things, or what...

The haircut has been our issue as well. My wife cut the kids hair, myself donāt have that much left so I can go a little bit longer. Hopefully my barber will open by then.

I began teleworking last Friday. Each week we rotate one day to be at the physical office. I love working from home. I didn't believe it was possible, due to small kids and a small apartment, but it's been good. I told my supervisor it's going to be hard going back full time to the office when this is over. The girls love that I'm able to take them outside during breaks and lunch.
A few friends have had issues with barbershops being closed. I'm follicly challenged so I haven't had to deal with that issue. I've been doing a close shave with the shears for over a decade now. Saves money and looks better than growing it out.
We have 5 year old twins and a 10 year old - all girls. They have been restless, though I have tried to get them out of the house on walks and have taken them to the church while I assist setting up or playing for the live streams. They roller skate, ride scooters or play on the small playground. I try to avoid taking them to stores, but sometimes it's unavoidable.
My 10 year old is doing school lessons online and is doing very well.
We video chat with my mom almost every evening and have connected with my brother and sisters and their kids from other states.

We have pretty much been staying put.
Although we do get outside. Got a garden spot tilled.
Gonna plant some potatoes, turnip greens, tomatoes,
and squash. We'll get most of our other vegetables from the
you-pick place in a few more weeks.
We've been having outdoor church with our church family.
Everyone stays in their vehicles.
Facetiming and calling our children and grandchildren.
Certainly praying more and reading God's Word more.
He is going to see us through this and we will have grown
a huge appreciation for all things we took for granted.
Prayers lifted for all of you here on AFF
God bless us all. :heart

Same here. Literally nothing has changed for me, except where others changes have forced me to. One notable exception being that I ran out of TP, and couldn't find any more. I had to resort to using Kleenexes (though to be fair, they work pretty well).

AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! I agree 100%.

I was literally thinking last week that I need to get my hair cut, and the very next day I find out they closed the barber shops. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!
The worst part is, I only need to cut my hair every 3-4 months, and now was the time I intended to do it. It's not too bad right now, but it's definitely getting shaggy.
