I have other CD's all over the house I haven't put on here yet. I will probably get them all ripped to the computer before too long now that I have Windows Media Player 11.
I am really enjoying it and I have been putting a lot of my music on the computer since downloading it.
I currently have 1,551 songs for a total 119 hours of music.
How much do you have?
(I'm not saying i have a lot... I'm just saying I'm nosey. :) )

Let's hope you save them as MP3 with NO DRM!

Most of them were ripped as WMA's with all DRM intact. I have had a hard to getting DRM laden files onto a mp3 player so I have purchased Tunebite for such occasions as this.
Tunebite has been worth every penny.

I have a couple Gig, I think... couldn't tell you how many songs though...
My car stereo reads mp3 files so I make a few mp3 cd's every now and then for the car.

I've been collecting mp3's since WAY before NAPSTER.
33.1 Gig in 14369 files
:)
Every CD we own goes straight to mp3 format as soon as we buy it then we never listen to the CD again. My car stereo has a USB port for memory sticks, so I just change the songs out every now and then.

I'm still in the 20th century. No music on my PC. Some audio clips from movies, though. E.g., when I shut down, little Anakin Skywalker's voice says "Will I ever see you again?" On startup, Darth Vader says "You should not have come back!"

Don't have much music, but 100 or so MP3s of preaching.

I have both preaching and singing downloaded here but not nearly as much as you guys do.
In regard to music, I have quite a variety, everything from preaching to worship to classical to some pop, some of the 40s classics (love those), to some pop and R&B, Celtic, Sarah Brightman, etc. .
My music taste is pretty eclectic.

Most of my stuff is ripped from my CD's, I haven't got to the whole library yet, but I will, I will.
I download a few things that I can't find around here...
Very little compared to the rest of you.
100 songs taking up 378.97 MB of space
Play time: 6 hours 52 minutes 3 seconds
out of curiosity I just checked my 2 computers
I have 2375 items, 8.77 GB on my iMac
and 750 items, 2.75 GB on my iBook
Just about all of those are songs and were purchased from iTunes.
Many were for my grandkids for CD's and for their iPods.

No sites needed, only nationality. In Canada it isn't against the Law, in the States, it is against the Law.
Most musical artists make their money on Tour.

You all know that's illegal right?:sshhhNo sir it is not...Canada or US. Anyone who has purchased a recording on a CD can upload it into their computer and transfer that file into a music player, whatever the format.
With iTunes you have a specific number of computers that are allowed access to a particular LEGALLY downloaded song/movie/tv show, to which you can connect your media player to said computers...

TWO SIMPLE RULES
There are two very simple rules about what you and your kids can do with software, music and movies you own. Remember these rules apply to a CD, an MP3, or a DVD that you ALREADY own a legal copy of.
Here they are:
RULE 1: You can legally make one backup copy of any digital media you already own, in case the original gets damaged. EXCEPT DVDs. If you make a copy of a DVD as a backup, you will be breaking the law.
RULE 2: You can transfer any of your legally owned media onto a different media, so that now you own two different formats of it (this is called "space shifting"), e.g., if you own a CD you can legally make an MP3 version of it; or if you legally own an MP3 you can burn it onto a CD; or you can transfer your legally owned floppy disks onto a CD, etc. As long as you own an original copy you are allowed to possess it in several different media formats. EXCEPT DVDs. If you make a copy of a DVD in any other format, you will be breaking the law.
-------------
Well the law must have changed a long time ago, according to this person. Is he a copywrite lawyer? First of all according to intellectual property right laws and the EULAs you get with your media, in particular software, you do NOT own the media. You do NOT own the music nor the software. The companies own it. You own merely a user license to use it and it's within the stipulations of that agreement that you have or don't have the right to make a backup copy or transfer it to another media player/source.
In fact there was a while there where Sony was putting root kits on their CDs to prevent just that and when you popped a CD into the tray it installed the root kit, whether you copied or not.
With CD music this may be true, however with software the rules are govern by the EULA and this person seems to be covering both music and software. Well that is good since I hate having to pop CDs in and out.
Do I have the right to make my own compilation CD for my car stereo?

A mixtape for the new millenium? He he.
That my friend is the big question that it seems to me that the record companies are losing...from the very beginning that has been an argument. Its for sure legal to reproduce your cd, but to make a mix??? Its been done forever....a cool move back in the 80's to give a girl one!

No, in the early 70's the CD was invented in Japan but could never be released.
Radio is now all MP3 and usually not live with the exception of morning shows or talk radio

His name was Ronzo, he wore a diamond
He was escorted to his chair, he saw Lola dancin' there
And when she finished, he called her over
But Ronzo went a bit too far, Tony sailed across the bar
And then the punches flew and chairs were smashed in two
There was blood and a single gun shot
But just who shot who
At the Copaaa...

My library size has changed drastically and continues to grow
I had 1500 or so when I started this thread. I have since signed up for URGE (on Windows Media Player 11) for $9.99 per month and I can download unlimited songs.
I currently have 3054 songs which total up to 235 hours of songs.
I am loving URGE. :)

Wow. Here I thought my collection was "huge". Now I see it is merely big.
(It's about 40 gigs, but 25 of those are the past three years of Rush's 24/7 Podcast downloads.)
