Good Evening.

I am a teacher in a 6-12:private school. Last August, a new female 7th grader began to confide in me about her broken home life. Being a male teacher, I was very hesitant about counseling her. But after hearing details, the administrative leadership gave it their blessing. After 6 months, a bond has grown between this student and myself. She is being raised by her paternal great-grandmother and step great grandfather who are both very sick. I have also bonded with them. Long story short, I believevGod wants me to take custody of this child someday. She would be my 3rd daughter behind my 19 and 15 year old biological girls. My oldest daughter is very supportive. But my wife and youngest daughter are skeptical. Prayers are appreciated.

I’m sorry. I thought you asked for prayer. Are you also wanting:
Comments?
Advice?
Opinions?

Please clarify.

I have already prayed.

It is told that Christians during the Roman empire used to pick up babies from the trash thrown away by prostitutes and used to take care of them as their own. They felt the duty to respond to the need of abandoned little ones. You know what Jesus said about kids.

I think it is very nice of you to take custodian of the child if no one else in her family can. I do think your wife needs to be 100% on board, though.

Have her spend time with your family to see what the group dynamics are, and if everyone is comfortable being together.

Listen to your wife.

My red flag is your wife’s skepticism. Her input is first and foremost. I’m truly sorry for this young’s girls dilemma. But, you only have one wife. If she has a problem with this, then you need to work that out in Jesus name. If she isn’t on board, then this could turn into an issue where you’ll really be fasting and praying. I hope it all works out to your first family’s benefit. Again, sorry to hear about this young girl. I’ll be praying for her.

You and your wife are in this together. She needs to be on board with you and if she doesn't feel comfortable taking in another child, then you don't need to take on this responsibility This is extra work on her and really the whole family.
Maybe you could include the young girl in SOME of your family activities occasionally but not adopt her or bring her into your home permanently. I would be upset if my husband wanted to adopt another child if I did not want to do it. JMO

This is something that your wife would need to be onboard with 100% and not talked or guilted into it. So what ended up happening?

Run like a striped ape! This is screaming out trouble for you and your marriage.

Sorry, seen it too many times.

Bro, you asked for comments, and then left? Did you ever read what was posted?
Hope it all worked out for you and your family.
