View Full Version : Kenneth Phillips Threatens To Choke CC1 From Pulpit
Tonight from the pulpit and in front of about a thousand people Kenneth Phillips threatened to choke CC1 !!!!
We drove into Austin this afternoon on our vacation swing through Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. I had to do a critical report for work so after checking into the hotel about 4 pm I only had time to that report then head to church.
This is the first visit back to our home church, Promiseland, for my wife in a few years. I get to come on business every few months but it has been awhile since I have got to come to church.
Halfway through the sermon Pastor Phillips noticed my wife first in the back and stopped and called out "Mrs. CC1 is that you?" to which she nodded and waved back. Then he asked "Is that Mr. CC1 beside you?" to which I nodded yes and waved.
I almost fell off my seat laughing when he then said matter of factly " CC1, see me after service, I want to choke you!".
This is the first time I have ever been threatened with bodily harm from the pulpit of any church, must less a large one and in the middle of a sermon.
As I suspected he just wanted to tell me I need to move back to Austin to help him with the TV ministry as they are putting in all brand new equipment.
It was a good service with some interesting things, one of which I will post a thread about before too long.

Ah ha!
A Terroristic Threat is a crime in the state of Texas.
Oh well, you probably needed it anyway. :D

Bro. Phillips is a lover of people!!!! That in itself has the potential to build a church! :D

Promiseland and all of the Promiseland Churches are in a summer Sunday School visitor contest and KP proudly announced that Randy Phillips's Promiseland West had 700 people in church last Sunday! Not bad for a church just a couple of years old.

See if they would like to bless an upstart church with some of their older stuff...
If I were him, I would have fulfilled my prophecy spoken from behind the pulpit... ;)

Is he going back on TV because I understand that he hasn't been on for quite sometime.
Or are you talking about the Acts29tv that he is one....I believe that is an internet tv only.
Please clear that up for me.

They were on the Insp. network at one time, however I can't get that network to verify this.
I think they are on TV locally in Austin. CC1 should be able to clarify this.

When I first read the title of this thread, I wondered how long are KP's arms? I wondered how far away was CC1. Was he on the front row or the back? To choke him from the Pulpit, extraordinarily long arms would have been needed, unless of course, KP called CC1 to the pulpit to inflict the choking treatment.
j/k, j/k, j/k :D
Why am I not surprised that someone who REALLY knows you would say that???? :D:killinme

We have to go back through Jax, Ms. as we have two of our dogs being boarded by relatives there. That turns the return trip to Nashville into a 16 hour one instead of a 13 hour one but it was worth it for the dogs to be with folks they know rather than in a little kennel cage for a week.
Because of that and that my son has to be at work Monday morning we are probably going to do the following. Leave Austin Saturday afternoon and drive to Longview where we will spend the night with relatives and then Sunday morning drive on to JAX, MS. (whatever is the shortest route, I am guessing I20 from about Shreveport) pick up the dogs, boiled peanuts, and then drive on home to TN arriving late Sunday night.

I don't know if it is still on but for many years KP has had a program on the local FOX stations. I think it came on about 7:30 am Sunday morning.
They also used the cameras to tape "The Awakening", Randy Phillips praise and worship program that aired for several years on TBN and other religous networks. They are still taping them but I don't know who carries the program or if it is just for DVD, etc.
The new equipment is to replace the aging production package I put together way back in the early 90's. That four camera setup has served them well but it was definitely time to upgrade!

Whew.. I had to rest a few seconds before replying because just reading that schedule wears me out. :)
Well... it sounds like you have more on your plate than anybody really needs at this point so I won't attempt to add more to you already very long day. :)
As you pass by Exit 49 yell howdy to LaGirl as you pass by...
As you pass by Exit 69 then yell howdy at us. :)
Some time when you are making a trip down I-20 let us know and we will have to get together and visit a little while.
Maybe have a nice tall glass of iced tea or something. :)

So did you have the meeting, or are you not submissive to the Pastor?

LOL!!! You are right it is going to be crazy. I have not made my son drive yet on the trip so I can get a lot of driving out of him Saturday and Sunday!!
I would love to grab some tea with you folks sometime when I am passsing through. My son is moving to Austin it seems next months so I am sure mama and I will be driving down some in addition to the flying there on business I do. Maybe we can do it on one of those trips.

He was my Pastor for 16+ years so of course I went down after church. He hugged my neck and expressed how much he wished I was there and we reminisced about old times.

Met up with CC1 and his wife today for lunch.
All I can say is... CC1's gotta have some serious cashola stuffed in a mattress somewhere. ;)
As always it was good to see my friend from Nashville, and it was a treat to meet his lovely wife and finally put a face to the name.
I learn to appreciate CC1 more and more every time i get to visit with him.
