View Full Version : Does your Mommy know you are on AFF?
I know anonymity is vital for many on this forum ... for obvious and understandable reasons ...
among them privacy, the ability to speak freely w/o repercussion, personal choice, etc.
but I'll ask anyway ....
Does your Mommy know you are on AFF?
Seriously, do your family members ... mom, dad, spouse, kids, brothers and/or sisters...know you participate on this forum? How about your close friends?
What would they say about it? What would they say about the content? What would they say about your attitude?
Or even the time, effort and often the verbal jousting you engage in?
Does your pastor know and approve of your participation here? Has he visited the site? What does he think?
Pastor, does your flock know about your membership here? What would they say about your posting style?
Do you want them to know about us? Or do you think the level of discussion and polarity may not be healthy for them?
Do you think your immature saints would be somehow confused or tainted if they participated here?
Does your District Superintendent know? What would he say?
C'mon ... the scripture says ... Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men ..
so WHAT SAY YE??

My pastor knows. My children know. Saints in my church know.
What do they say? Not much. This isn't my whole life.
I don't think born again saints should be here until they are rooted and established in the word. There are too many confusing voices.

Yeah, my parents, brother and sister know I post on here. They would say, that's me. Though online it's harder to gauge emotions; and they'd say that even in disagreements I keep a smile.
JTullock knows me offline and we've our disagreements. *grin* We've been pretty tough with each other at times, but during and after it, we're still friends and I value his thoughts and opinions. (not sure if he values mine or not, but that's another story. :lol)
Does your pastor know and approve of your participation here? Has he visited the site? What does he think?
Not sure if he knows or has visited. Pretty sure he's got more important things to do than police my internet activities.
Does your District Superintendent know? What would he say?
Same as the above, except I'm not accountable to him, so I don't really care if he knows or what he'd say. Don't get me wrong, he's a good man, but since I'm not a licensed minister or holding office under him, I'm not too worried about his opinion.

Better question...
"Does my mommy care if I'm on AFF?"
LOL! the first night I was in my first house, I called my mom. The conversation went like this.
Me "Mom, Guess what I am doing?"
Mom "Oh Lord this cant be good, bubba what are you doing?!?"
Me "I am drinking milk right out of the Jug!"
Mom "BUBBA! I taught you better!"
Me "Yea but mom, ITS MY HOUSE! HAHAHAHAHAHA!"

I've not discussed it with my pastor. He uses the internet a lot and is probably on a pastors' forum.

A friend of mine (not a close friend) came to greet me and give me a hug at campmeeting when we were home and she called me "Felicity". I said, "Oh! So you read AFF??!!! I was shocked! LOL! She said yes and that she reads most of what I write and said she liked what I have to say.
So there you go. You never know who might be reading. :)

My pastor knows, and has met somebody that hubby and I met from FCF, and my pastor isn't worried.
Another pastor in my district knows I'm out here, reads my posts, and he had a great time taking hubby and I by surprise a couple years ago when, at District Conference, he greeted us, shook our hands, and said, "Hallowed by thy name", with the biggest grin!

People know I am on a forum but they do not know where or what the name of it is. My mother is Catholic, my dad is not religious, my sister is a liberal feminazi vegetarian, my brother is a homeless blues guitarist. The pastor of the church I attend I never talk to.
So, nobody cares. ;)
(My husband and kids know I am on here and they wonder why I want to be in a group that talks about, as they put it, "spiritual wierdness". ;))

Do you want them to know about us? Or do you think the level of discussion and polarity may not be healthy for them? Depends - some are mature to handle different opinions, some are not
Do you think your immature saints would be somehow confused or tainted if they participated here? Yes, I do believe that they would. Not that they necessarily would just have an opinion different than mine, but that there is some incredible diversity... I believe that some would lose much of the growth that they have had.
Does your District Superintendent know? What would he say? Don't know... I can ask him next time I see him. I am certainly not hiding anything :D

Inside joke?
Somewhat. When I first joined the original FaithChildForum, I went by the name "hallowed wife". It was an email addy made up for me by my dear husband. He later joined FCF as "Hallowed Husband". I later left that name behind and simply posted under my own name. Our pastor friend, who would lurk but only posted 2 or 3 times, was on that board under a name we didn't recognize. Thus the funny surprise at District Conference when we were greeted with, "Hallowed by thy name."
Oh, and to answer the original question that started the thread:
Yes, my mommy and my dad both know that I am out here. Neither one of them have much use for internet forums.

Big Momma Price knows, and wonders, "Why in the world do you have so many forums?" She did not know I don't own but one forum on the web. She knows, but doesn't care.

Trust me. He is nothing like Sister Alicea.
She is nice, kind, compassionate, charming, quiet, sophisticated, intelligent, mature, and very modest. She dresses decently, and is a very wonderful woman.
Even the best parents can raise the opposite of what they are.

We would be surprised at who reads the forum.. I've been greeted out in the district as "foreverblessed". For some reason, I am always surprised when someone stops me to say they have read my postings.
My father is deceased and mom has alzheimers... haven't answered to either of them in a long time anyway. My siblings know about the forum and some have even posted... my kids beg me to get off the forum once I get on...usually cause I get caught up in reading.
I talk to my pastor once in a blue moon, and I am not sure he would care whether I post here or not... although I have mentioned the forum to him before. I told him I met StMark online the forum since they know each other.

My family knows about the forum and I have mentioned the forum to my pastor. I think he may read stuff on here sometimes, because there will be a thread on here about a topic, and he will mention that topic in a sermon. This Sunday, he dealt with the "Seed of the Serpent doctrine" without calling it that. This is not the first time this has happened!!!
