Today is the dreaded Friday 13th. Are there any superstitious among us? Ladders, mirrors, blackcats, salt, umbrellas, etc? What say ye?

It's been Friday the 13th here today...

The power had been out here at work (the nuthouse, literally) at about 5 this morning and the servers were down for a while.

One of my coworkers went to pick up her large Arby's cup of tea and dropped it right down her front and on the floor. It was a sight to see. :D

Among other things.....

My son was born on a Friday the 13th, albeit in December. He thinks it's cool.

I believe one of my aunts was as well. In fact, today is her birthday.

Is this tradition of man, or is there more to it?

A Friday occurring on the 13th day of any month is considered to be a day of bad luck in English, German, Polish and Portuguese-speaking cultures around the globe. Similar superstitions exist in some other traditions. In Greece or Spain, for example, Tuesday the 13th takes the same role. The fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskavedekatriaphobia rizza (a word that is derived from the concatenation of the Greek words Παρασκευή, δεκατρείς, and φοβία, meaning Friday, thirteen, and phobia respectively; alternative spellings include paraskevodekatriaphobia or paraskevidekatriaphobia) or friggatriskaidekaphobia, and is a specialized form of triskaidekaphobia, a phobia (fear) of the number thirteen.

We're planning on going camping tonight.... There is this great romantic abandoned camp up here at Lake Quarts......
I told my wife the odds of a similar tragedy occurring this weekend that happened three (and six, and ten) years ago is at least 10 to 1 against.
