Ha ha ha...that reminds me of a story.........a couple of years ago, we were getting ready for a dinner and some ladies were having a hard time serving devilled eggs.... I used to just LOVE coffee. My normal routine was to head to the coffee shop in my town, get a triple Amaretto espresso and read my Bible. That was all I would have all day. (like I needed anything else)

On my last trip to India, I really fell in love with chai tea. I have stopped drinking coffee alltogether and now my drug/drink of choice is chai! I have tried many different brands and types and I like Oregon, Tazo and Celestial Seasonings the best, so far.

Chai rocks. Tazo's Chai is REALLY good.

I used to drink 4 or 5 cups of coffee a day just to stay awake at work. Then I found out I suffer from sleep apnea and now have a CPAP machine that helps me actually breathe when I sleep...

Since I'm actually awake and able to function like a normal human being (relatively speaking of course), if I have more than one cup of coffee a day now, it makes me wired.

Looking back, even when I was thin, I had it. I'd wake up unable to breathe and couldn't figure out what the reason was... now I know what it was... The weight simply compounds the problem.

I've tried "Chai" at my daughter's insistence. She's really into that and "bubble teas" as well.

I love the "spicy" part of Chai but not crazy about the sweetness. Not sure what it is exactly ..... if they use condensed milk or what. I don't mind that in iced coffee but in hot tea ....... just didn't care for it. :nah

The Pastor Stated

I just weaned off of coffee, after three days of terrible withdrawal, I am caffeine free. Anything that can effect my body that negatively I can live without. I had started having irritated bladder, and that has cleared up, so I feel much better. I tried decaf this morning, one cup only, but it is not the same, so I may just forget it.

I now sleep better, and am much more alert and full of energy to run our business.

Since it is now 1:23 AM, I am off to get some of that sleep....O yeah! Good night.

I purposefully began a coffee habit a year and a half ago... I have no other addictions. It keeps me from craving snacks in the mornings. I do believe it is a drug (no better/worse than nicotine) but I believe in self-medication. The whole reason coffee has come to be popular over the centuries is because of its properties as a stimulant.

Every morning, I have 2 shots of Italian Roast espresso, with half a cup of steamed/foamed skim milk and a shot of sugar-free caramel flavoring...

I don't seem to have any negative effects with this amount of coffee, only positive ones. It motivates me to not snack and also to ride my bike 10 miles every morning.

Just finished a 12 mile ride in 1:13 with my brother... we are riding mountain bikes on concrete paths averaging 9-10 miles an hour.

Both of our bikes are 26" Specialized Hard Rock Sports (mountain bikes). These are at the low end of the good quality bikes and we have been really happy with them. We are trying to bicycle to the grocery store and to the restaurants when we go out to eat too, so I have a basket on my wife's bike and my brother and I both have Toppeak racks with interchangable bags, baskets, etc. depending on what we are doing.

How fast do you ride on the road bike? I've been curious to know what a normal pace is on a road bike... I am assuming at least 15 mph?

I average around 17 miles an hour. In Louisiana that is basically a consistent pace. Occasionally I will sprint at 20+ mph. Now when I ride in TN or other more mountainous states I usually average around 14 or 15 mph. Those hills will kill your average going up and don't do much to improve your average going down the other side. :)

There is a group that meets every Saturday morning and rides from Moss Bluff to DeQuincy. Round trip is about 40 miles and we average about 17 there and back because it is pretty flat.

When we are on slight downhills we get up to 14-15 but our average is 9-10. We are using the regular mountain bike tires and have not bothered to switch them over to the smooth road tires. We also can't go much faster since there are walkers on the same trails that would get upset if we blow by them too fast. :) (especially on the curves, since the trails wind among the trees)

I use a Garmin Forerunner 201 instead of a bike computer and it is nice to be able to go back and look at the logs, including satellite images showing your exact path. We can also compare previous weeks and months to see our improvements. I've actually blocked out an hour on my work calendar each morning for my bike ride to make sure I do it.

My study of the habit, indicates that if keep to a cup or two in the morning followed by exercise the caffeine actually helps in weight loss and performance. But beyond that it has too many negatives.

Try some Starbucks Sumatra decaff or their Espresso decaff. 3 tablespoons in a one cup coffee maker - other than the kick you won't be able to tell the difference.

Actually, I had Starbucks Sumatra decaf this morning and I enjoyed it, however I think I need to use more coffee. Did you say 3 tbsp to one cup? That ought to have a kick, thanks for the headsup.

I had a brother at one church say this when asked if he wanted a cup of coffee, "No thanks. I have the Holy Ghost."

??? ??? ???

Amen !and that goes for the swine and soda also!!!!!Sounds like REAL HOLINESS!!!! It is no wonder trusting God and home birth is mocked in so many "Apostolic " Churches today. People eat all kinds of unhealthy things, get fat, get cancer go to the Dr. and also expect The Almighty to heal them when they won't even abide by the instructions. Lev. 11.

And once again people wonder why they are overweight and sick.If they are not doped up on pills( drugs) then it is the mountain dew. Try getting off the swine and refined foods like white flour and sugar and see if you don't feel better.I have children that have never been to the Dr. and were born at home, this used to be taught and and I'm a young man.
Blessings to all!
