On the way home last night from our vacation my wife, son, and myself were talking about many things (12 hours of driving time!).
We started discussing a young Black man that has been part of our church for several years now.
This young man was the worst of the worst. He was not just bad he was angry and bad. That combination resulted in everybody at his High School (including teachers) being afraid of him. He got in many fights and eventually was expelled.
Someone invited him to Christ Church and he was reached by the word of God. A predominately white upscale church is the last place you would expect an angry black teenager to be open to finding God but that is what happened.
This young man is about 20 or 21 years old now and has been active in both missions and working with young people. He has done missions work in Uganda and right now is on some kind of two year missions project he is doing before completing college.
This young man has been in our home and I would have never dreamed his background just three or four years ago. He radiates the love of God and is one of the most loving, pleasant people I have ever been around. He always hugs my wife's neck at church when he sees her and speaks to us.
When my son first told me this guy's background a year or so ago I remember doing a doubletake and having to make sure we were talking about the right friend of his.
Sometimes I get discouraged with Satan controlling so many young people and the lack of God consciousness. Testimonies like this one remind me of the parable of the sower where we have the promise that the word of God WILL find fertile ground amongst all of the rocky ground.
