This is by far the best version of the song I've seen on YT.

Wow...that moved me too...

It also made me think of that song that says, "I need You Jesus, to come to my rescue...where else could I go....this world has nothing for me..."

THank you...that was beautiful...

I have no idea what was going on!!!!

Jest joking!

Looks like a lot of dancing to me, and a great chance for those young men to get thier hands on a young lady. Sort of like coed tackle football.

The message was great but I would not let my daughter act in a skit where she was going to be pawed like that.

Then you refuse to admit the fact that it was a skit about real life.......and the fact that the world is trying to "paw" all over your kids and mine.

We had an altar service a few weeks ago and this song was sung for probably a half hour as people were just weeping before the Lord. I had never heard it before that, but now I love it.

The video did have an awesome messge! It could be cleaned up a bit to be truly Apostolic and done at Youth Congress but it did have a great message.

Yeah ...well theres a lot of things that are real life...say teenage premarital sex, but that doesn't mean that I need to let my teenage daughter reenact it.

Sorry if y'all are offended by my "negative" reaction, but that young lady was absolutely man handled by those guys and if you dont have a problem with that well more power to you, but I would absolutely refuse for that to be done to my daughter.

Although I don't consider my stand to be very popular on this forum even though the word Apostolic is in its title, my convictions are very real to me and I firmly believe they are based on scripture. I do not believe in ladies wearing pants, Hey, did you know the women could not wear pants in congress until the 1990's? I do not agree with all the male/female touching. There is just some things I would change if I were to do the drama in my church.
It is funny but as I was typing that I heard your reply in my head and knew that someone would ask the question just the way you did. Just to let you know there are a few Apostolic Conservatives around. Convictions for everything are being watered down. The statement, It just isn't necessary to abide by all these rules, is a common one these days. I would rather abide by them and find out I didn't need to than to not abide by them and find out I should have.

I think if you were going to do this drama in a UPC church setting, you would definitely have to change some things. But that's ok....you could change the outfits and physical contact, and get the same message across. The song is very powerful, and the effect of Jesus holding back the forces of evil is very real!

I watched this and I could relate. I wasn't brought up in a Oneness home or even a home where we went to church regularly...The world in the 60s and early 70s could be a scary place. I'd reach out and try to find HIM. I'd about given up but when HE fought my battles and rescued me, I found safety and most definitely I found love.

HE RESCUED ME

On a stormy sea of sin I was sinking
Never to rise again
The wind and the waves round me crashing
Had battered and torn me with within

But He rescued me Jesus rescued me
From the cold dark waters of sin’s troubled sea
Oh, He rescued me new life I now can see
Jesus reached out in love and He rescued me

I could feel death’s arm around me
As I struggled for my life
I could see his angels wing
To claim me for his prize
Then out of desperation
I almost lost my mind
Somehow I cried to Jesus
And He saved me just in time

Oh, He rescued me, Jesus rescued me
From the cold dark waters of sin’s troubled sea
Oh, He rescued me new life I now can see
Jesus reached out in love and He rescued me

Jesus reached out in love
Oh He reached out in love
Yes He reached out in love
And He rescued me

That is exactly all I was trying to say in my first post. I did think the message was very moving and appreciated what it was trying to portray. All I was saying is that I would change a few things and that could be true no matter who was doing it.

I was brought up in a very strict yet loving home. There was never a question of whether we were going to church on church nights, if church was open then we were there. And, there were many nights when church wasn't going on that we were there as well. Even though, I was expected to be at church and staying home was never an option, I never remember not wanting to go. My parents just lived it as though it was the most enjoyable place to be. Even in my teens when I was struggling with how I wanted to live the rest of my life, I don't ever remember wanting to stay away from church.
I graduated from a public high school in 1979, that was a few days ago. This may surprise young people today, but I used to go into the doors of the school thru marijuana smoke, many of my classmates got drunk regularly, others got pregnant, and so on. It was going on then too. So, even though I was brought up in a christian home I too can relate to the powerful pull this world has on the youth of this day. I don't know why it is that so many PK's end up not in church. It is a concern and burden I have carried for awhile. If anyone should embrace this wonderful truth you would think it would be those who have had a life long education of it. Yet, if it were not for the Grace of God, there go I. And, yes youth have a very hard time and things are much more open than ever...BUT The power of God is the greatest thing we've got going. It is all the power we need. And this drama portrayed that part very well.
My brothers and I used to sing the song He Rescued Me as a trio. You brought back many cherished memories.

Though I can completely relate to the sentiments and comments of others, I feel that life is as gritty and raw just as in the drama. There would be nothing wrong with sanitizing the appearance to suit other Apostolic Christians (conservatives), but after watching this presentation, it seems that the edge of the story could be comprised.

It wasn't too many years ago that I would have been immediately turned off by witnessing dancing and this style of drama. I would have to say that those ideas first came to mind and then I felt the power of God and there could be no arguing about what the Lord was doing that evening.

Sherri, where was this production held? It appeared to be a large audience and the venue seemed large too. The kids did a remarkable job...please let them know that there efforts have continued to be a blessing to many people.

I could stomach the girl changing into a skirt or dress. But I'm pretty sure if done in a traditional UPC church, they'd get rid of the dancing, beer bottle and the wall keeping her away from Jesus.

If that happened, it would lose its effectiveness.

Honestly, I don't know where it was held or even who these kids are. Someone just sent it to me and I wanted to share it. I would say it's some kind of huge youth conference like Teen Mania or something.

Boooorrrrrrring!

Sorry, but the mime'ing is terrible on this. The guy playing Jesus barely gets into . . . and I don't think he ever breaks a smile, though it's hard to tell from the camera angle and distance. He just looks bored.
