We had Black History Night tonight at our church. Some people from the church wanted to put it on, and we just let them go for it. It was so awesome! There were skits, dance, songs, gospel jazz, hilarious parts and very sobering parts. I didn't have to do anything except show up in my African garb.

This one guy from Nigeria came up near the end in rags and chains from his neck to his feet. He prayed in his native tongue a prayer to God and it was interpreted and read by another guy in the back. It made me weep! It was the prayer of a newly captured slave who was being shipped to America. He had been a pastor in his homeland, doing his best to serve God and then was ripped away from his family and church and sent to America on a slave ship. He was angry at God at the start, and then part way through repented and asked for God's will to be done. But it was so dramatic and gut wrenching; I don't think there was a dry eye in the place.

Later, we had dinner in the back with a gospel jazz band and singers. I just got home; it was amazing!!
