John 4:24 states...

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

I have always interpreted the 'truth' in this verse to mean the Truth of the Apostolic Doctrine.

However, as the spirit John is speaking about is our own spirit, is it possible that the 'truth' here is also connected with us and not doctrine?!

Could 'truth' in this passage mean attitude, motive, honesty?!

In other words, is this about the heart of man?!

When I worship, what is my motive...my attitude...am I being real and honest in my praise?!

What thinkest thou?!

I think that is an excellent thought!

We certainly should come before Him with all honesty/truth. I believe that is what the Publican came with and Jesus stated that he went home JUSTIFIED!

Truth is important BOTH ways! Thanks!!

Yes sir, I agree, but the verse doesn't read, "the truth..."

It reads, "in truth..."
