View Full Version : Wordly Celebrities You Have Met
Have any of you met any worldy celebreties, like actors, sports stars, etc.? I have met Barbara Eden, Henry Winkler, Richard Prior, Shirley Jones, Shaun Cassidy, and Pam Grier. With the exception of Henry Winkler, who I met at a movie theatre, I met everyone while working at the Los Angeles Theatre Center, back in my 20s. Oh! I almost forgot! I met Pat Benatar too.

I've met the members of the rock group "Heart" twice. This was back in my teens/early twenties while out of church. I met Tristian Rogers (General Hospital) when I was a teen. Also, Bobby Hebert who used to be the Quarterback for the Michigan Panthers (a team that no longer exists) - he was a neighbor of mine at the time.
I think that's all. Nothing exciting.

I was actually good friends with someone rather high up in the Star Trek franchise (The Next Generation and Voyager). I've also talked quite a few times to Walter Koenig and Peter Jurasik as well as Bruce Boxleitner (all of Babylon 5 fame).
Also briefly talked to Alton Brown and Michael J Nelson.

Bill Clinton, Tiger Woods, the Smothers Brothers, Vickie Lawrence, Micheal Feinstein, Lauren Hutton.
Is Lauren Hutton as classy in person as she comes across on the TV?

Really? I would have guessed the opposite. Shirley Jones is downright mean in person. I could not believe the way she talks! Barbara Eden was a very nice lady and Richard Prior was very nice, but he was very nervous. He did not like being a celebrity. Shaun Cassidy was very nice and so was Henry Winkler. I had heard he doesn't like people calling him the Fonz, so I made sure to call him by his name when I met him. Pat Benatar was very nice too. She was one hot lookin lady, even though she did wear a lot of makeup. I don't remember too much about Pam Grier.

I met Ralph Waite, Elijah Wood, David Carradine, Geannie Francis, Kirstie Alley, Patrick Swayze, Phylicia Rashad & her husband, Jean Simmons, Bruce Dern, Wayne Newton, and quite a few more during the 80's when I worked at a hotel in a small southern town in which quite a few movies are made. Most were guests at the hotel. The nicest of them all were Wayne Newton and Bruce Dern and Geannie Francis.

Chuck Norris spoke at our church on a Wednesday night a year or so ago. His autobiography is cowritten by Ken Abraham who is a church member.
Getting Ronald Reagan's autograph (I was the only one out of 7,000 people that got it) has to be the highlight of my experiences meeting famous people. He smiled and waved at me. I got goosebumps cause it was just three days before the 1980 election and I was a huge supporter of his and had been for years.

We shall meet child of God. We shall meet
We shall meet here or earth's unsettled sand
or we'll meet yonder on heaven's golden strand.
Not a shadow or tear to dim your lovely eye
nor a sad farewell to fade your bright smile.
We shall meet child of God. We shall meet.
Where together we shall sing the redemption song
such song angles cannot sing...amid the ransomed throng
Hope yearns for New Jerusalem shining so fair
There we shall meet child of God...there.
We shall meet child of God. We shall meet.

Good ol Sheriff J.W. Pepper of the Louisiana state POE-leece. :)
Oh yes, I also got to ask Dr Edward Teller a question when he came to our college many years back. The guy is such a genius that he understood the answer far more then I even understood the question.
And if you can count connections and paraphernalia, my dad owned a full sized van that was used in the movie The Giant Spider Invasion which was filmed in Central Wisconsin. He bought it from the studio. (Yes, it was about a giant spider and starred Alan Hale Jr ("I"ll save you skipppperrrrrr!") as the sheriff.

I have met quiet a few. When I was a teenager there was a family in our church who owned a limo service here in Dallas, I was their nanny and so I got to tag along to many fun things. The biggest thing they did and this was before I was even in my teens but they chauffered(I know I didnt spell that right) for the entire cast of Dallas, I met everyone in the cast and have since been invited back to all the reunions. I also was able to meet Farrah Faucet and Ryan Oneil. Then my former boss' co also did all the Cattle Barrons Balls and I met several people there also actually so many I cant remember. But I have met George Bush Sr and George W and their wives.
When I was married to my ex he was one of the hired bodyguards for the Dallas Cowboys and we hung out with them all the time. Troy Aikman and Emmet Smith era.
My dad works for Ross Perot and I have met him several times. I have met Mary Kay Ash several times also.
My grandmother who we just moved here from a little town in Oklahoma which is now a little better known, Checotah. Went to church with Carrie Underwood since she was a little baby and I sat with her quiet a few times in church services and we went to dinner and they came to dinner a few times... wayyyy before AI.

Diane Sawyer
Reba McIntyre (talked to my son)
Carmen (woohoo!) - at the time, it was exciting!
David Cassidy (not nearly as HOT as I remembered him when I was 15)
Lynn Scheer (sp.) - CNN reporter (?)
Zachary Ty Brien - played the oldest son on Tool Time
Morgan Freeman
Steve Harvey
Most of these I've seen on airplanes or in airports.
