Anyone remember the words to the song "He's My Lord And My God"?
I know some of the words but my feeble brain blanking out on some of it. Here is what I remember.
1.
Thomas the doubter said I won't believe
Until those nail prints I see
??????????????
???????????????
And Thomas fell to his knees
Cho.
He's my Lord and my God
He's not just a stranger to me
When I looked past the veil
It was easy to see
He's my Lord and my God
2.
Skeptics today bring confusion to all
???????????????
???????????????
???????????????
Help Anyone???

Yeah, I did a search for the lyrics before I posted the thread and i didn't come up with anything either. I think it was sung by David and Darcy Abbott. They are UPC, but I am not positive that it was them. Hopefully someone remembers. Thanks for looking for me though.

i can't tell you how many times I've sung it myself but can't for the life of me think of the missing words. I asked my husband who helps me out from time to time to remember old songs and he said, those verses don't even go with that song. Well, I think they do so we'll see. lol

An elderly lady at our little country church used to sing this song and she'd "get happy" as we used to call it. ......We'd never heard of "Shockamoo". Sometimes she'd even do this: :hanky
PURPLE ROBE
CHORUS :
PURPLE ROBE MY SAVIOR WORE
OH THE SHAME FOR ME HE BORE
AS HE STOOD ALONE FORSAKEN ON THAT DAY
AND THEY PLACED UPON HIS HEAD
PIERCING THORNS OF BLOOD STAIN RED
HIS RAIMENT WAS A SCARLET PURPLE ROBE
VERSE 1:
'TIS A STORY SO UNKIND
IN THE HOLY BOOK WE FIND
AND IT TELLS HOW
JESUS STOOD ALONE ONE DAY
FALSE ACCUSED AND THERE CONDEMNED
YET THEY FOUND NO FAULT IN HIM
THE MAN WHO WORE
THE SCARLET PURPLE ROBE
VERSE 2:
IN A COMMON JUDGMENT HALL
HE WAS MOCKED AND SCORNED BY ALL
AND THE TEARS OF SORROW
FELL UPON HIS CHEEKS
SOLDIERS OF THE WICKED BAND
SMOTE HIM WITH THEIR EVIL HAND
THE MAN WHO WORE
THE SCARLET PURPLE ROBE
VERSE 3:
WORDS OF TRUTH THAT DAY DID RING
FROM THE LIPS OF PILOT CAME
IN THIS MAN I FIND
NO REASON HE SHOULD DIE
BUT THE MULTITUDE THEN CRIED
LET HIM BE CRUCIFIED
THE MAN WHO WORE
THE SCARLET PURPLE ROBE

Thanks for posting the words, Sweet Pea got a little ahead of ya but I still appreciate it.

1969. . . Hm-m-m-m. This must have been one that he wrote before they married. They had an album "Getting Emotional" that I listened to in order to confirm my memory of the words. It states "all songs written by David and Darcy Abbott" and they recorded it around the 1975 - 1977 time frame. I didn't find a date on the album but I'm thinking it came out either just before or just after their oldest son was born.
I listened to the whole album.... and to echo what SoCali said.... it was definitely a "blast from the past"!!! But I did enjoy it. They wrote some great songs! :thumbsup

Are they the ones that wrote "I'm So Glad I've Got The Holy Ghost"? I remember him singing it at General Conference one time.

There is a song that he sang that had that line in it, but I don't think that is the name of it. I'll do some checking around and see if I can find out what song it is.

I think these are the lyrics to the chorus but I don't know if it had verses.
I'm so glad I got the Holy Ghost
I'm so glad I got the Holy Ghost
Jesus came into my heart
Gave me a brand new start
I'm so glad I got the Holy Ghost
Wow, can't believe I remembered the whole thing. At least I think that was all the chorus.
