Just curious. I'm going to a church event tonight that is outside and want my 4 month old's legs covered to lessen the chance of mosquito bites. I'm not interested in the theology aspect, just do my best not to create problems despite my personal views. :)

You could always leave your kid with a baby sitter and opt for this toddler robot

Actually, you just reminded me that I've seen girls in our church in pajama pants. Shouldn't be a problem then. Thanks. :)

it depends on what matters most...someone else's feelings or your baby doll's protection from flies...

Not at all! When I first started seeing this, I thought it was terrible (I was not taught this way)...but it seems like it's quite acceptable in most areas of UPC and I now see no harm in it whatsoever.

I agree...with the nasty West Nile virus running around, it would be awful not to. Kinda like the guy that died from not having a tetnus shot. Sad.

I let my daughter wear pants until she was walking. One of the ladies came up to me and said, "I was praying you'd take those things off of her."

I slapped her and sat down in my pew.

Technically, you only need a Tetnus shot if you have a deep puncture wound that could close before it heals. Otherwise, it isn't necessary. I haven't had one since I was 14 and don't plan on getting one.

It was a reference to a thread started here not too long ago...about the man that died from stepping on a nail. He was of the order of folks that don't go to doctors. A tetnus shot would have saved his life.

go ahead and put the baby in the pants. Then rub her clothing down good with a sheet of Bounce so the mosquitoes won't bite her through the fabric. (that's supposed to work - seriously!)

If anyone would be offended by a baby for any reason, they need to find themself an altar somewhere and get their attitude straightened out. I'd say it would be shame on them, not shame on you!

Our pastors little 1 yr old daughter was looking like a little princess a couple weeks ago walking about in her pink silk pant suit with matching top.

Offended...no Prag , not at all.

Then I am not offended by teens or older women wearing ladies pants either.

The only thing that offends me is when we twist the scriptures to bolster up our sad old doctrine that a women can not wear slacks. ;)

Well, back in my day with the UC's, no age was too young to enforce the dress code.

Not to debate anybody I'm not offended at pants on a baby girl.

I'm not offended by pants on a baby girl, or on a pre-teen girl, or on a teen age girl, or on an adult woman, or on a middle aged woman, or even on an old woman.

In my opinion, it is none of my business how another person dresses or is dressed. That is between him/her and the Lord Jesus.

I think you should do what your personal views say to do for the benefit of your baby.

I think it is silly when parents have a deeper desire to show everyone else they are enforcing standards, their kids aren't given the chance to be normal kids.

I get so sick and tired of seeing little kids running around in skirts doing a flip and summersault and exposing their dignity when their little skirt flips up over their head, just so their parents can feel justified.

I understand your sentiments.

The nice thing is there is really no need to choose. Our girls wear skirts petty much all the time, and are very active in soccer, teeball and other sports.

There are quite a variety of skorts or culottes available.

Our girls wear skirts or skorts/culottes most of the time. When they were little, they wore bloomers under their skirts...so even if their skirts flipped up, nothing was shown except cute ruffles and gingham! Honestly, no one should be offended at seeing a baby's butt even if it does get flashed!

As for being "offended"...who cares what a baby wears? LOL!!! They can walk around in a diaper and nothing else and they're just as cute as a button.

Our girls wore little knit pajama sets and rompers (with pants) when they were little. When they started crawling we switched to onesies, because pants on the legs hinders their movement. (For Jeffrey, too, actually)

Bare feet and bare legs are best for babies inside. Outside...if its hot, go bare and use mosquito repellent. We use Burt's Bees Herbal Insect Repellent (http://www.burtsbees.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10751&storeId=10101&productId=10211&langId=-1&categoryId=&showSubCategory=yes). It smells good, its made from environmentally friendly (and kid/baby friendly) ingredients, and it works pretty good. (not quite as good as OFF, but it's a good trade off to not spray on skin-numbing chemicals.)

Brett Prince

In the days when my girls were small, I prefered that they were skirts or dresses--but leggings were so very helpful!!!

Offended? Hardly. Prefer differently. Sure--but not because I'm sending them to hell--just simply because it makes a statement and I think little baby girls look gorgeous in pretty little skirts and dresses!

When my girls were really little, had there short hair, etc., I was so proud of them, and I didn't want anybody to mistake them for a boy. So, there were all kind of skirt/dress outfits with thick leggings that were just as good as a pair of pants--they just had extra cloth instead of just the leggings.

So, if you are worried about offending someone--they have those outfits--and if somebody is really going to get offended over a baby girl in a skirt/dress with leggings--I would think you have done far more than enough to attempt to be conciliatory.
