I love this skirt. I've always loved scarf belts!!!! I usually purchase in the tall section.
It's called the Hayworth skirt and I'm sure it's named after Rita Hayworth who wore gorgeous, lovely clothing!!!!

I don't normally like a crinkle/broomstick skirt, but if it's in silk I can like it and only in the brown here. Don't care for any other color unless maybe a sage green.

Fat women cannot wear those skirts!
I checked all the sizes. I think they go to an 18.
I bought a brown linen and a navy skirt today. Went through a whole lot that I didn't like at all. That's why I'm posting pictures. I need to go to bed. What am I doing? :killinme

An 18 isn't a big size, however, even if they went to size 48, bigger women don't look good in those styles of skirts. My mom wears broomstick skirts and I hate them, because she looks like she's wearing a tent!
Maybe this is why they only go to an 18? LOL!

That's true. I was hoping others would post a style that works for them.
You can always find a copy of an expensive brand somewhere.

I really like Coldwater Creek. Our six adult children keep me

They go together and buy one per occasion. I have very smart
adult children! My husband of almost 49 yrs. keeps me in Donna

There are NEEDS they cannot possibly supply! But I know a GOD

I don't have any skirts other than jeanskirts. That's all I wore as a BDW. So it's difficult for me to get out of that mentality and believe that I might look good in a nice dress skirt.
I bought a nice, petite-looking shirt from WalMart the other day and tried it on when I got home.
Well, it's obvious that I'm not petite, in spite of people telling me that I'm getting thinner and thinner.
Liars!! LOL!

ROFL!!!! H1, don't give up. Rule #1: Don't shop for clothes at Wal-Mart. You're better off saving your money and splurging on a NICE skirt from Macy's, Coldwater Creek, JJill, Steinmart or Dillards than to spend the same amount on 10 cheaply tailored..things. :D
Now listen to me, I haven't seen you in awhile, but just off the top of my head, you need to go with something just below the knees, straight (not pencil, e.g., tapered), and make sure it fits the hips and falls straight (doesn't hug). I have a problem finding skirts that fit both my hips and my waist--so I usually have to buy straight skirts a size up, and nip in the waist. And skip the elastic waists. :) Buy something that fits, and if it doesn't fit exactly, tailor it or have it tailored.
I like what Stacy off of WNTW says--fit the biggest part of you first, and then have the rest tailored to fit. That's a very good rule of thumb. And try on several different sizes in the same skirt. You're also really tall, so you can get away with really long skirts. I like ultra-long skirts, but they swallow me whole. I wear them anyway...sometimes, and I FEEL comfortable, but DON'T look my best. :D
1 good quality black, gray or navy skirt will last me several years. 1 Wal-Mart skirt will be in the Goodwill box within 6 months.
Would you just fly down here and let me take you shopping? I will have you trying on the entire store. :happydance

I didn't care for the skirts shown on page 5 but liked some of the ones on page 6. I don't like ankle length though. I'm fairly long legged and 5'6" so I can wear a longer skirt as far as proportion and all goes, but don't like the feel of them dragging around my ankles.
I bought a few last summer that I had shortened for that reason.

I like a denim skirt if it doesn't have a zipper and pockets in the front. Don't know if my husband would let me wear that one you pictured. I had one on the other day and he said, "You don't think that skirt is too tight?" Hahahahahaha!

I'm not big on the "fluted" skirt. I do like the suede outfit, regardless. Love the blouse in the bottom picture.

IDK looks rather similar to skirts you posted earlier..I think this look is elegant with boots. Everyone has different taste, but it's hard to go wrong with Ralph Lauren jmho--:)

Thanks for the links. I'm aware of Roamans, Midnight Velvet, Seventh Avenue and Ashro. My opinion on these is that if they don't carry leather shoes, the quality of their clothing is in question. Have you ordered from these companies in the past and if you have, what is your opinion of the quality of the materials? TIA!

Dear Sisters
I have been saved for about a year now and have not been out of a skirt since. I strongly believe in the scriptures of Deuteronomy 22:5, and 1 Timothy as well as all of Proverbs 31. Knowing how hard it was to find a skirt that was considered to be modest apparel. I took all of the jeans I owned and converted them into skirts. Since then my 14 year old daughter and I have been making skirts in all different sizes for other woman in the church. It has been a great growth experience for us not only in faith but in fellowship together. We have posted all of the skirts that we have made...check them out on Etsy.com this is an awesome site for homemade things....Anything!!! Check it out. You will find us under key words Long... Denim... Skirts........Mack77

I found two very nice A-line skirts on sale at JC Penny recently. One was charcoal grey, which I didn't have. Very hard to find nice skirts and especially at JC Penny. I paid $20 each. That's a nice price for a skirt on sale - a well made skirt, that is.

You sound like my wife.... something you didn't have! It's easier to discuss what she doesn't have (my wife) than what she has. If I should outlive her I'm going to put in a shoe/dress shop and be able to live for awhile on the proceeds. BUT... she always looks beautiful! Does that get me out of the dog house, now?
Oh! I forgot to ask. Are we guys allowed to post on this thread?

Sure, it helps you get out of the dog house. Although, you must know that we never listen when you guys say things like, you are going to open a shoe/dress shop after we die. :D
I'm going to sell his boat and all of his fishing tackle - IF - I outlive him. :D

Okay!!! I guess we all have our weaknesses. Mine is the Apple Store. Computers, iphone, ipod, and have now ordered me an ipad.
The wife asks that so unnecessary question, "Why do you need an ipad." Because Apple made one!
My kids give me gift cards for The Apple Store. When my wife asks me where and why I bought another gadget, I just simply say, "I got it with a gift card!" She never says anything about the gift card purchases.
So now I go to the Apple Store and buy myself gift cards. When she asks, "Where did you get THAT?" I simply say, "I got it with a gift card!" It works, praise the Lord!

My husband grew up living close to water and is an outdoorsman. Ever since we have been married - 23 years - we have lived close to water. That's how he gets his relaxation - his boat.

Another nice source for girls and women (mostly) casual skirts is Kosher Casual, www.koshercasual.com . Most of the skirts are just below the knee, but some are long to the floor as well.
