Eph 1:13 In whom ye also [trusted], after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise,
Eph 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

EARNEST
1) an earnest

a) money which in purchases is given as a pledge or downpayment that the full amount will subsequently be paid

Can one have a hope of heaven without having the Holy Spirit of Promise?

Can one have a hope of heaven without having the Holy Spirit of Promise?

Romans 8 says we have the firstfruits of the Spirit waiting for the redemption of the body. The only guarantee of being in the rapture is the HGB!

This is simply a matter of when the new birth takes place...and we already know the differing views. :beatdeadhorse

It's a seal.

Now... the root of the question here isn't what you allude to, Matt. The root is "when does the Holy Ghost seal a believer?".

No actually, the root of my question was just what I asked. Can one be saved, i.e. ready for heaven, without the Holy Spirit of Promise?

Act 2:38 is about receiving the promise of the Spirit, which is the earnest of our inheritance. My question is, can you be saved without this gift?

It sealed these believers in Acts 19!

No... sorry. I disagree and I believe you're missing the point of your own question.

In my opinion, the root is when does the promise come? Upon belief? Or after the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

Well, since I was in my mind (I think) when I made this thread, I can say clearly that my question was more that some have placed salvation at repentance, and the promise of the Holy Ghost is where the earnest of the inheritance is given. So again my question is, Can one be saved without the Promised gift?

No... but since you don't think you're missing the point... I'll ask the next question... "when does the Holy Ghost come as the promise?"

When one receives the holy ghost?? There ain't but one Spirit to receive, so when you get it, you get it.

Would you prefer I say that the Holy Ghost comes to all that repent, are baptized in Jesus name, and that when it comes, they will speak with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance?

Again, you were trying to push it where I was not going. I simply wondered if some believed that you could be saved without the Promised Gift of the Holy Ghost, as some believe you are saved at repentance.

Bro. Ron,

When you take fruit and prepare it for making perserves, there is a

process of washing the fruit, peeling, cutting, cooking, etc. Sugar is

added, etc. The point I am making is when the process of preparing

the preserves or jelly is finished, it is then stored in jars and a sealing

process is completed by putting the jars in a pressure cooker and is

pressurized and when the heating process is complete, the jars will be

sealed, preserving the contents. They are sealed until the time comes

to be used by the Maker!!:bliss :bliss :bliss :bliss :bliss

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of

the power may be of God, and not of us. Just some thoughts!

Blessings,
