Tonight, a ladies trio is singing, The More I seek You

Verse:
E B C#m
The more I seek You
A
The more I find You

E B C#m
The more I find You
A
The more I love You

Chorus:
E B
I wanna sit at Your feet
C#m
Drink from the cup in Your hand
A
Lay back against You and breathe
B
Feel Your heartbeat

E B
This love is so deep
C#m
it's more than I can stand
B A
I melt in Your peace
B E
It's overwhelming.

this is a beautiful love song, to God, of course and in my opinion, needs to be introduced to the audience. Otherwise, it might not go over well. Some brief introduction to get folks in the right frame of mind. Now when I hear the song, I bawl b/c I can almost feel the arms of God holding me close and feeling his deep, everlasting love.

Now - with said, does anyone have a suggestion for a scripture reference I can use before we sing to get folks in the same frame of mind?

thanks

Oh, come ON! You can't get a man to at least sing BASS for the song?

Perhaps a reference to John the Beloved:

John 13:21 - 26 (KJV)
21 When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.
22 Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake.
23 Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.
24 Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake.
25 He then lying on Jesus’ breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?
26 Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.

Peter must have felt that the closeness of John to Jesus gave him access to ask anything. Oh to be that close to the Master!!!!

Well, you go by who's the oldest - if the song is older than the person you are introducing it to, then you say the name of the song first.......oh wait, somehow I don't think that's what you meant.

Or.....

Song of Solomon 8:5 - 7 (KJV)
5 Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved? I raised thee up under the apple tree: there thy mother brought thee forth: there she brought thee forth that bare thee.
6 Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.
7 Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned.

Oh that we would feel the Love of the Lord this strongly and be in Love with Him this much!!!

something that amazes me about the Holy Ghost experience, is that we can be just that close to Him at any time, you know? The disciples walked with God and were physically in his presence, but we have Him INSIDE us and when we seek Him, when we pray and reach out to Him, He's just "there"....it absolutely blows my mind. It's not complicated, we dont have to be perfect to come to God, he takes us as we are and wraps us in His arms and covers us with that "peace"

at least thats how I feel about it...now I just need some kind of scripture to back it up LOL

We did this song Thursday night in our Savannah campus. Why does it need an introduction? We loved it, and it was the first time any of us had heard it.

My sentiments exactly! Some songs don't need any introduction. Just sing. :)

Psalm 53:2 "God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God."

Psalm 40:16 "Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified."

At least DON'T say, "pray for me as I TRY to sing"

I think a simple "I bawl everytime I hear this song- I LOVE HIM so MUCH!" would be a great intro....

I agree with RevDWW. This is about as good of an introduction as you need.

Well, it went well last night - we have one of those sweet, moving services prior to us singing - and it was the perfect lead in for this song.

I dont want to say anything about my church, but lets just say that sometimes, new things take a smidge of adjusting, and you get that "deer in the headlights" stare when you sing something "out of the box"

Thankfully the spirit was moving in just this way and the song was perfect. We hit all our marks and the harmony was really tight. I was very, very moving.

I did however give a brief intro (not the "pray for me Renda" ROFL) but the spirt moving and the song spoke for itself.

Thanks Becky Love you too!! :blush
