Our son Raul Jr and his wife are in the states with their baby daughter. (2 years old) She has been crying for several days with unbearable pain in her arm. They took her to the emergency room today and had x rays etc the doctor has her scheduled for a cat scan in the morning. They said it looked like a tumor or something. Just at the desk they had to give them 200 dollars that was his last money.
They are in Memphis Tn with no money, no insurance and have no idea what to do. I told Raul Jr to try to talk to social services in the morning. My daughter in law speaks little English. They are desperate.
I would not tell this on a public board but I have written here so long I just feel like I am talking to family. Please pray...I told Raul Jr to come back to Brazil but he begin to cry because they need to do deputation as they are so far in debt. He just built that campground and several churches counting on the fact they could be in the states and now this has come up and they do not know what to do or where to turn. Raul Jr is the type to suffer and go hungry in silence.
By morning ( Bro. Alvear and I)have to try to come with some answer…we don´t know what to do…Please help us pray…

I tried to set on up and my friend was going to try to deposit but they never contacted me. However any money sent to my home address if I know it is coming the bank will hold my check...little bank and many years banking has got me lots of favors with them...

I hope someone more in the know than I am can post about this, but there are programs in place where he's at that will allow him to get the help she needs without him spending a dime for it.

Another question....does he have American citizenship? This doesn't much matter, but there is a little more red tape if he isn't, but all the same, he can apply for help that will completely pay the costs involved.

Please call one of your local contacts in that area and see what they could do? As a Pastor, if I had a relationship with them as a missionary and they were in my area I would be more than willing to see them through this, but from a distance not much or little that I can do.

Have them call St. Jude's Hospital. They are a research hospital for children, however, I would think they would either help them or at least give them some direction for help.

I am trying to call them right now but they are not answering the phone so they may be on the phone with someone. I found out he is with Brother Adams. A young pastor in Memphis so I will try to let the pastor know Raul Jr´s real situation maybe they can help him some. Raul Jr would never tell anyone his needs...that is the Alvear in him! ha.... I would!

I just got in contact with them. They have her at the motel and will take her to Methodist hospital for a MRI in the morning. Brother Adams now knows his plight and is going to help them get it where they can pay it or whatever. We don´t know what will take place tomorrow but I will let you wonderful folks know.
Maybe some do not appreciate this forum but with tears in my eyes I thank the Lord for each one of you all! Please keep praying.
It is difficult not belonging to an organization but for our work to be a national work that is the route we took many years ago. Today we have many precious national preachers that are taking the gospel on their own to many places. Our people will never know the cost we have paid until they realize they have a beautiful work that no American can sell out from under them...some even now are beginning to realize their blessing.

I'm not positive of this, but I believe that they would also be citizens if Raul is considered to be one because you are one.

He can marry a Brazilian woman (and I think the laws changed on this to prevent people from becoming American by marriage) and have a baby and that baby would also be American because he is American.

I think that's how it goes anyway.

Keep us informed. I'd hate to give money to docs when he might be able to get the help for free though. Make sure his options are used up before he goes that route. He won't have to pay for it that day.

Dearest Sister,

The Old Testament speaks of the "Angel of His Presence". Today, since

Pentecost, His Presence is carried within the bosoms of His people. This

"Treasure (His Spirit or Presence) in earthen vessels is whereever God's

people are! Someone (this dear Bro. Adams for instance) and Raul,Jr.and

his wife have His Presence within their bosoms. So God is very near. He will

not leave your son and wife comfortless He is not only WITH them, He is IN

them. There are three of them gathered together in His Name! He is in the

midst of them.

Mother, do not worry. God has everything in control. You

need not worry or fret as He said to cast it all upon Him, for He careth

for you. May the Prince of Peace speak peace to your son and wife's

heart, and to Raul Jr's Mom and Dad, in Jesus Name!

Jesus did say to ask and you have asked for prayer and help. Leave it

in God's Hands now, in Jesus Name!!

When we were in Germany our third child was born and we had to have him naturalized to become an American citizen. We also made sure he didn't have dual citizenship. I think you have to file the proper papers to become an American citizen referring to children.

His daughter cannot be an American citizen because he never lived in the states. I went with him to talk to the authorities. If he came and lived in the states she would get a green card.
They should be at the hospital right now with her. Raul Jr cancelled his preaching schedule and will probably have to return to Brazil. At least that is the plans at the moment. They are unsettled what to do because he owes so much on the campground and recent churches they have built. We are just waiting to see what they find out.
We are all praying and God is in control. I will keep you all informed.

if your son needs someone to help with language interpretation (Portuguese, correct?) please PM me. I have a friend who pastors in Miami, but grew up the son of missionaries to Chile. I don't believe he could come there to interpret, but he might be willing to help out over the phone for them. With cell phones, they might be able to do it without even any long-distance costs.

In the meantime, be assured that I am praying here in Ohio.

The doctors decided not to do tests. I do not know why. The baby is NOT in the hospital but is in pain. At this moment my son and family are headed toward Oklahoma. Please continue to pray. I really wish they'd went to St. Jude's. I think that was their best bet.

I do too...I am uneasy about this decision but there is not much I can do so far away. My son is only bold in the pulpit but is more of a loner in some ways...lots of friends but no close friends.

He said the doctors finally determined from the tests that there was only some infection irritating a nerve...very painful but not threatening. He was rejoicing over the goodness of God.

Bro Alvear will be with some very good men of God over the next few days and I know all of them will be willing to help should there be any further complications.

The devil knew what awaited him at this service tonight and did his best to stop it...but God prevailed!!!!

Thank everyone so much. I did not know what they decided as I called last night but he was just getting of church and Michelli was at the motel he just said he would call me back but he had left Julia sleeping. We were so worried as the doctor here has mentioned several times she needs to see a bone doctor.
