What did Paul mean by that?

7But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
8Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

9And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

10That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

11If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

I think Paul is saying that what he lost ,in Judaism he obtained in Christ.
The things he lost in his old life as a follower of the law he counted as dung so he could obtain fellowship with The Lord Jesus Christ.

But the grammar make it sound like he is doing something to win a prize and that prize is Jesus...works?

The prize could be being in heaven with The Lord at one's final resurrection?

Paul states in Philippians 1:21, For me to Live is Christ, and to die is gain.

2nd Timothy 4:7 Paul faught a good fight and finished the course, I have keep the faith.

His prize a Crown of Righteousness and Eternity with Christ.

He fought the fight and gains Eternity with Christ.

This is to Win Christ...

Everything else was dung....

why can't the prize also just be KNOWING HIM ... in the power of His resurrection and in the fellowship of His suffering???
